This Government is so repugnant

I can see what they're doing.

Send the kids back to school. Everyone will say "How come I can't see my friend/family/drive to the coast etc as it's a much lower risk than my children catching it at school."

So they will all break the rules and the Government will say "Well, we told you not to."

Cue everyone blaming everyone else for the next wave (which WILL come).

Divide and conquer, that's their plan. They remain blameless and continue to bang on about how great they are until people actually believe it.

I'm so sick of them pandering to the whims of the newspapers and to their back-benchers. They've let thousands and thousands of people die by their laissez-faire attitude. And thousands more will die still.

I hate them with every bone in my body.

Can you tell us how you know this for a fact?

Meredithgrey1 · 22/02/2021 17:16

I wonder if actually they’re hoping that now they’ve given an idea of an end date, people will wait.
Before, you had people thinking “there’s no end in sight, fuck it, I give up”
Maybe now they’re going for “I just need to hold on until (whatever date the thing they’re looking forward to is) and then I can enjoy it” People might be more willing to avoid seeing family now if they know they might be allowed to in a few weeks.

CherryRoulade · 22/02/2021 17:18

Yes, its a plan out of lockdown to suit the Tory Cronies, I am afraid.

So cross that our daughter is restricted to a wedding of 15, no music, no reception to speak of but two days later 10,000 can meet for a sporting event.

Babymamaroon · 22/02/2021 17:56

So you're saying that those who break the rules should not be held to account?

The only accountable party is the Govt?

Don't agree with you there I'm afraid. They're opening the schools for the sake of our children's education. That's the right thing to do IMO.

52andblue · 22/02/2021 17:56

Agreed, OP.

Sirzy · 22/02/2021 17:58

So how do you suggest they do it then?

I am no fan of this government but this is a clear sensible route out and people need to take responsibility for their actions to help ensure dates don’t need to be pushed back

TheFairyCaravan · 22/02/2021 18:03

I can’t have DS2 and DDIL here to do Christmas until May 17th. There both nurses but haven’t had a Christmas with either side of their families yet. We’ve not seen them since October. They live too far away for us to visit in a park or for a picnic. It’s shit and I’m so sad.

peak2021 · 22/02/2021 18:06

OP, why has it taken you so long? I realised Mr Johnson was the worst Prime Minister ever about mid-March last year.

megletsecond · 22/02/2021 18:08

Yanbu.

MellowBird85 · 22/02/2021 18:08

What? I think you’re a bit paranoid OP.

Kids being in school is a priority for obvious reasons. What would you have them do, open pubs first? Hmm

Changedusernamehahaha · 22/02/2021 18:09

Not many can see through this OP. They’re very clever at covering themselves.

Rivergreen · 22/02/2021 18:09

Seriously?! I'm no Tory, but there is some impressive levels of self-absorbed batshittery on display on this thread!

Changedusernamehahaha · 22/02/2021 18:09

Ppl on this thread totally proving your point Grin

MyDcAreMarvel · 22/02/2021 18:12

@Sirzy I am no fan of this government but this is a clear sensible route out nightclubs and festivals in June is a “sensible route out”!

PersonaNonGarter · 22/02/2021 18:12

OP, you are being ridiculous. They are sending pupils back because young people have had too much to bear. They need to go back to school.

You just hate the government and are dressing up the facts to suit your drama/anxiety. Fine. But it isn’t insight.

SqeakyHindge · 22/02/2021 18:12

The gov have done this from day 1.

It’s been a game of pass parcel of blame, the government been ones who in charge of music

Spot on.
OhToBeASeahorse · 22/02/2021 18:15

So it's the governments fault if people break the rules? How did you get there?

ProfessorInkling · 22/02/2021 18:17

Apparently there’s a vaccine now 🤷‍♀️

BeakyWinder · 22/02/2021 18:20
**@Sirzy* I am no fan of this government but this is a clear sensible route out* nightclubs and festivals in June is a “sensible route out”!
Won't most adults be vaccinated by then?

MyDcAreMarvel · 22/02/2021 18:24

@BeakyWinder yes but the elderly and the ECV groups who are most at risk are also the groups where there is no evidence on how effective the vaccines are. That why people still need to shield even after having had both vaccines.

Exactly this.

I hate this government too but getting kids back to school as the first thing they do is exactly the right thing.

I also hate this government with a passion. However, if everyone breaks the rules would govt not be entirely justified in saying it's the public's own fault?!

What would you have done now instead? Stay locked down for another few months?

BeakyWinder · 22/02/2021 18:29

Are the elderly usually found in nightclubs? 🤣

If we use the "yes but what about.." logic we will be in lockdown forever.

TeacupDrama · 22/02/2021 18:35

I think bar a few minor changes regarding dates and timing the Scottish map tomorrow will be broadly the same, the differences between Scotland and England are very small currently the main jist is the same the rest is minor tinkering at the edges
