There is no better sandwich than a BLT - change my mind

Proper smoky bacon fried in the cut off rind

Crispy lettuce (not iceburg)

Ripe tomato (beef at this time of the year)

Sourdough lightly toasted, one side spread with mayo the other with salty butter.

I can't think of another sandwich which even comes close

A BLT can easily be improved by removing the L&T, and adding a 🍳.

I live in the US so my choice of the best sandwich is a beef brisket sandwich. The beef is seasoned with only the most essential of spices over low temperature charcoal and mesquite wood for 12 hours + that imparts the most wonderful flavor to the meat. It doesn't need bbq because the meat is so flavorful and served on a bun with onions, pickles and jalapeños...true perfection!

But, a bacon sandwich really is a state of the art sandwich.

Vom to sourdough, so overrated, ubiquitous and unsuitable for a sandwich. Gives me jaw ache.
Now a nice fresh half baguette, proper butter and crushed walkers roast chicken crisps, with a big fuck off cup of tea. Drooling

My favourite sandwich at a pub that's now changed hands used to be a CBLT, warm chargrilled chicken breast, thick cut local crispy back bacon, slices of perfectly ripe tomato and lettuce with homemade Mayo. All on homemade fresh, still warm ciabatta rolls spread liberally with real salted butter.

Delicious! Since they stopped serving I found a new place that did an equally gorgeous but definitely more calorific sandwich.

Thick cut white bread, thick slices of fresh roast pork, apple sauce, stuffing, cheese & spring onion. Buttered on the outside then griddled till everything melted and served with a wedge of salty crackling.

Haven't had it for a year since WFH, god I miss that sandwich!

I lived abroad and I really missed M&S prawn Mayo sandwich. So that gets my vote.

Nope the best sandwich in the world is the Katz’s deli pastrami Reuben. Nothing else will ever come close.

The ONLY lettuce for a BLT is shredded iceberg. Not the outer leaves, the paler heart... Also consider switching your mayo for Caesar dressing 😉 Apart from that, you're correct - the BLT IS the best sandwich

Commander Vimes in the discworld novels is very clear on the ratios of B, L and T in a BLT and let's just say the L and T dont feature heavily

Another favourite sounds a bit wanky but is DIVINE. It’s a crusty roll with fresh mozzarella, salami, chorizo, tomato and rocket. Tasty as hell!

White farmhouse loaf, hand cut thin, thick sliced ham, butter, Coleman’s mustard.

Or (and please imagine yourself in a church for this one) - plastic white bread, strong-ish grated cheddar, sliced tomato, scraping of mayonnaise on both side, salt and pepper, cut into triangles, served with a pile of crisps on a paper plate

Back to the white farmhouse, but medium cut this time, two slices of well cooked smoked back bacon side by side, and a third slice of streaky smoked back bacon laid diagonally, bit of warm butter, BROWN sauce.

My favourite would be pastrami, thinly sliced gurkin, mayonnaise and a grind of pepper. On some hand made whole grain bread, with crusty crusts.

The tastiest I had was really quite simple. Two types of hard cheese with different types of raw onion layered between a large french white. It was cut so precisely at an angle as if someone had quarried a block of the stuff straight from the side of a Swiss mountain and cut it with a God's knife.
