There is no better sandwich than a BLT - change my mind

Proper smoky bacon fried in the cut off rind

Crispy lettuce (not iceburg)

Ripe tomato (beef at this time of the year)

Sourdough lightly toasted, one side spread with mayo the other with salty butter.

I can't think of another sandwich which even comes close

I love all kinds of sandwiches but nothing beats medium white bread, lashings of salty butter, processed-to-the-hilt (not naice) ham and a thin layer of English mustard.

Poached salmon, watercress, squeeze of lemon, good mayonnaise, salt and pepper on crusty white thick sliced bread and butter. Perfection.

Philidelphia and walkers cheese and onion on white bread

BabyMoonPie · 23/02/2021 14:20

My nomination: brie and apple sauce on 2 slices of a crusty white bloomer

Anyone watched Julie and Julia where she cooks her way through 300 recipes or whatever in a year and blogs about it.

Do you reckon you could survive on sandwiches alone for a whole year (just dinner)? We’re talking open, toasted, different breads, all the fillings mentioned here etc.

That sounds delicious.

Salmon, avocado, lemon mayonnaise, lots of pepper with seeded granary bread is my fave.

oldperson1 · 27/02/2021 16:21

Another vote for M&S prawn Mayo

BearEastie · 27/02/2021 16:27

Nah everyone knows it's melted dairymilk with wotsits on crappy white bread and the crusts cut off

DipSwimSwoosh · 27/02/2021 16:39

Chicken tikka, lettuce and mayo.

florascotia2 · 27/02/2021 16:39

Hummus with grated carrot, alfalfa sprouts, rocket, very finely chopped raw red pepper and a sprinkling of lemon juice, all on seeded brown bread. You can replace red pepper with a few chopped olives and it's also good.

Egg mayo (ideally home-made) plus watercress and/or cress plus rocket and lots of black pepper on granary bread. Non-vegetarians could add a few little chopped up anchovy fillets from a tin.

Also non-veg: hot-smoked salmon, avocado, lettuce or (better) watercresss, lots of lemon juice. Plus very finely-chopped bulb fennel if you like the taste. On any sort of brown bread. It's also good on oatcakes.

Strong cheddar plus home-made mustardy coleslaw on very thinly sliced wholemeal.

Ploughman's with cheese, tomato and pickle.

On whole grain bread, and absolutely no Mayo or butter

sueelleker · 27/02/2021 16:45

B&T for me, with cream cheese spread on the bread.

praecantator · 27/02/2021 17:12

Good baguette, horseradish creme, rocket, thinly sliced rare roast beef and ripe tomatoes, heaven.

Toasted sourdough spread with creme fraiche, prosciutto, really, really ripe tomatoes.

Cold roast pork or beef or chicken or ham, thickly sliced, salted butter on rye bread

Lobster mixed with good mayonnaise, rocket on a brioche bun.

Homemade egg mayonnaise on lightly toasted sourdough with Hamisha sour pickles.

I could go on Grin

.

I've read the book, but not seen the film.
