I can't think of another sandwich which even comes close

The best sandwich I can’t get anymore is the Schwartz’s medium sandwich. See picture - you have to have it if you ever go to Montreal, with chips, pickle on the side, and a cherry coke is the classic combo!

I love most sandwiches though to be fair.

Club sandwich for me , I'm going to have to make myself one today now as my mouth is watering thinking about it.

I had almost exactly what you're describing for lunch, but with avocado instead of lettuce. It was amazing.

Cold sliced hardboiled egg with lots of salt on buttered soft white bread

Sausage butty with brown sauce. Preferably made by someone else, for breakfast, when you were assuming it was just going to be regular old toast.

And at lunchtime - homemade egg mayo (with mustard in) on sourdough toast, with cucumber

DH's favourite is sliced white, a little butter, banana and Branston pickle 🤮

Sourdough, crispy bacon, Brie and Cranberry for me please. Mug of tea on the side makes lunch perfection

I can see this is a thread for those with discerning tastes. I’ll add anyway:

Now given it’s a bit flat, lacking any protein, devoid of any colour, poor nutritional content and bad receptacle for a nice sauce - but don’t let that put you off. What it lacks in, well most things, it makes up for in delicious crunchiness. You want nice white bread, butter and salt & vinegar. This is a “I really can’t be arsed day” recipe.

BLT needs chicken and cheese, then it becomes legendary.

I would also argue that a tiger baguette heavily buttered with Parma ham, Spanish salami and garlic and herb Boursin is superior. Heart attack inducing but delicious!

White bloomer, salted butter, hot roast pork, stuffing, apple sauce, English mustard, crackling.

A small baguette so small small bag if you will 😂. Spread it with Philly and then scrunch up Smoky Bacon crisps on top of the Philly. Scrumptious!

Don't be insane - bacon should not be sullied with fresh tomato gubbins! It should be served crispy on white bread (or any other carrier or eaten straight from the pan if necessary 😃) and complemented with ketchup.

If there is no bacon in your fridge/freezer/neighbours house/snowstorm/meteor attack then a close 2nd would be

White farmhouse bread
Fish fingers (crispy)
Mushy peas
Ketchup

Sounds yummy, I like a wholemeal bread with it though.

I like a cheese and pickle sarnie or a cheese and ham baguette. Or a tuna, sweetcorn and Mayo.

I lived abroad and I really missed M&S prawn Mayo sandwich. So that gets my vote.

A million years ago, a sandwich shop near where I worked did a mix of turkey, crispy crumbled up bacon and Swiss cheese in mayonnaise. It was lovely. I used to have it on granary bread with black pepper.

Totally. I always have a sarnie at lunch. I know people who think it's dull but ooh...lovely bread...lovely fillings.

Bacon, avocado and Philadelphia soft cheese. Heaven in a sandwich.

Christmas sandwiches are the best. Turkey, stuffing, butter and cranberry sauce on granary bread.

Or just a Christmas night plain turkey with a bit of salt, or ham on thickly buttered white bread with a cup of tea
