Time for a new game of Mornington Crescent

It's time to begin a new game and I better not make the mistake of playing the closed stations rule in zone 1 again, which led to the win by @WalkingInTheAir13. To have a winner after only three and a half months is quite rare this century.

So I shall begin outside zone 1 for once, starting at Tooting Broadway, the first game I have ever joined to start south of the river.

And onwards to Covent Garden

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 29/03/2021 17:36

Brondenburg variant always makes me nervous. Especially around stations with lifts... which is why I’m doing a surface slide to Hammersmith. The Circle and H&C branch.

00100001 · 29/03/2021 17:41

Golly gosh it's getting quite tight here. However I do have options.

A side lateral to High Street Kensington

Alcides · 29/03/2021 18:09

Brandenburg Variant rules out a sideways flip but I believe a sideways roll is permitted on Mondays.

Euston Square

Alcides · 29/03/2021 18:10

Apologies- Brondenburg. That invalidates the move. Back we go to

High Street Kensington

DuckonaBike · 29/03/2021 19:10

Holland Park

00100001 · 30/03/2021 18:03

Bank

CuthbertDibbleandGrubb · 30/03/2021 18:24

The Waterloo and City line comes to my rescue, though of course technically the closed line rule. Followed by a trip to Clapham Junction and the London Overground rule taking us to Willesden Junction.

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 30/03/2021 19:53

How refreshing. I think a move to Cutty Sark is exactly what’s required just now.

00100001 · 30/03/2021 19:59

Ah, superb! This means the DLR is now in play!

Time to use the Regents Rule, and a swift move to King George V

Alcides · 30/03/2021 20:10

Impressive!

Bit of a frantic day getting the under under gardener free from the puma trap in the haha.

Regents Park

DuckonaBike · 30/03/2021 20:21

Hmm ... tricky. I’ll try an angular move to Lancaster Gate

CuthbertDibbleandGrubb · 30/03/2021 21:48

And I will try to find if there is anywhere for some food in Notting Hill Gate.

Alcides · 30/03/2021 22:07

Russell Square

dohdohdoh · 30/03/2021 22:23

With the tea cakes collected it's off to Uxbridge

DuckonaBike · 31/03/2021 12:03

There’s everything to play for! Down we go to Ealing Common

00100001 · 31/03/2021 15:15

Ah, doesn't calling at Ealing Common on a Wednesday bring the tram lines into play, whilst simultaneously bringing stations beginning with a E out if play?

In which case Waddon Marsh

CuthbertDibbleandGrubb · 31/03/2021 17:52

The tram rule. I'd better play it and move to Addiscombe.

againandagainoncemore · 31/03/2021 18:08

Now we're on the last day of the 3rd month i can see we will be ok to play the Gregorian Saint rules. Therefore it's a swift shuttle to Cannon Street.

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 31/03/2021 18:49

I’m just going to remind everyone that tomorrow is both Maundy Thursday and April Fool’s Day, so we’ll be facing both the usual Easter conventions AND the spaghetti tree trap for the unwary. I recommend extreme caution around stations with names related to the Church or nature. Good luck and more than ever, MIND THE GAP.

That said, Muswell Hill.

00100001 · 31/03/2021 19:20

Canning Town

we're limited to stations that are in more than one line. Because it's perfectly acceptable to play Monmouth Rules

Alcides · 31/03/2021 19:27

Charing Cross

Not as controversial as it looks - Sunday was a full moon.

00100001 · 31/03/2021 19:32

Hmm, but you are in danger of breaking the Alliteration Rule, which we all know can't usually be played in the evening, so presumably you have found an exemption?

Alcides · 31/03/2021 19:59

An excellent point @Binary - but as it is Holy Week I believe the move is valid under the Second Vatican protocol?

00100001 · 31/03/2021 20:08

Ah, of course! Silly me, I should have remembered as it was used in the quarter finals in the 2016 East Easterly Division knock out rounds.

I shall move to Sloane Square
