How often have you been leaving the house?

Not a TAAT but inspired by another one!

How often have you been going out of the house over the past few weeks? And what's your situation wrt schooling / kids / work etc?

I work pt and have young kids (youngest is a baby, eldest mid-primary) and we go out every day otherwise I'd LOSE IT. Having thought about this, I realise that with the ice, DH isn't getting out for his usual morning cycles and so has spent all day every day Mon - Fri in the house for the last 2 weeks.

I have been off the premises about three times since Christmas. Nothing to do with fear of the virus, just too busy WFH.

Only on MN have I seen ppl who never go out even if not shielding,

You aren't likely to see them if they never go out, are you?

@itsgettingwierd unfortunately none of my friends live locally. Most have young families as well so a bit busy these days. I have anxiety in general and don't deal with sickness /illness since my dad passed away. So COVID has just made it all a bit worse unfortunately.

Every day because I have to go to work (I’m a teacher). This week is half term and I can’t believe how relieved I feel to have a week where I can stay safe in the house.

Work out of home, so life hasn’t actually changed much Mon-Fri. Take DS to nursery, go to work, pick him up, come home. We usually go out to the park and to the corner shop (two different trips) on my days off. Haven’t been any further than nursery (1 mile away) since start of lockdown though.

DH WFH, so he goes out for a daily run or walk and that’s it.

Every day. Since lockdown began. So nothing has changed apart from not going to the shops.

Kids are teens, im still office based. The desks are spaced out but that's what they had to do but social distancing is impossible because of the nature of the work hence why we cannot work from home. There are 4-6 of us in at any given time.

I go for walks with my friend. Did through lockdown. I work in the same room as her, desk next to her so its silly not to be able to go for a walk with her.

About 4 times a week, I walk into town with the kids, go to a playground & then the supermarket, so usually out of the house for 2-3 hours each time. That's enough for me - I have "2 under 2" so getting out of the house is a PITA.

On 4 or 5 days a week. I don't go out on weekends now at all.

I go out every day with the kids.
Even if it’s just a walk round the block.
Most days though we go to a park or on scooters / bikes.
Kids need fresh air every day.
We are up , washed , dressed every day , complete home school then out.

Normally I’d be out every day as I’m a TA and still working however we’ve been at home the last 2.5 weeks as first DS1 got Covid then I did. I’m almost scared to go out now even though I still feel absolutely shattered so wouldn’t be able to go very far anyway.

I go to work about 3 days a week, I do 1 trip to the supermarket before work on a Wednesday (very quiet), 1 trip to the butchers/corner shop (again early and lucky to see 1-2 others), and 1 trip to another shop to get milk (I'd have it delivered but nobody delivering milk round here). I don't go out for walks or take the dog for a walk (far too many people out and about) . Dog plays ball in the garden and indoors with a balloon for exercise. We might get a takeaway from the pub - landlandy is there nobody else, all timed unless you're unlucky with next people being early. I go once a week with shopping and do personal care/cleaning for my friend's mum (as she cancelled her cleaner and home helps at the start of the pandemic).

I see about 4 out of 6 people at work, plus a few shopping and that's it, my weekly contact even socially distanced is less than 10-15.

WFH and live by myself. I try to get out every day for a walk, but due to work pressures &/or shit weather it tends to be about 3 days in the week and once at weekends. And then walking to the shops usually twice a week (sometimes combined with a walk) and maybe a drive to a supermarket/DIY shop/petfood place once a fortnight. I had a few days of hard work when I didn't go out at all and felt really weird as a result, so that encouraged me to keep going, but I'm finding it increasingly dull to walk round the same bloody streets. I've also found that if I miss a day or two I'm more freaked by encountering people, which I know is irrational, so that encourages me to keep going.

I go out every day - yesterday I went for a walk in the lovely fresh air and sunshine, then went out again to the shops, then went out again for a walk with my DP when he got back from work.

I work outside the home 4 days a week and walk there, so go out then, plus a walk, plus any shopping that I need. I try to get 10000 steps a day, for my health.

I don't think it's healthy to sit indoors all day, every day. It might be 'safe' Hmm but it reduces your Immune system (remember that? The system that actually fights off diseases? The one that you NEED in tip-top shape to be 'safe' from illnesses?) and it has a hugely damaging effect on your Mental health as well as your Physical health.

Get outside. It's the best thing you can do for your health. The gov advice to stay indoors is crap. And hugely damaging.

Every day. I just can't imagine staying in the house all day, it would drive me crazy!

I meet a friend for a walk most days (different friends on different days) and sometimes make my teenagers come on a walk with me, although they prefer to walk / cycle with their own friends.

I WFH (part-time) with 3 older kids at home. DH goes out to work, usually cycling. I get out every day for a long walk, or I would go mad! One of my dcs goes out running every day but the other two are a mixed bag, but tend to do exercise in the house most days via Zoom or Youtube.

I don't understand how people can stay in for days at a time (if they don't have to)!!

I go for a run three times a week. I also go for a walk about five times a week to the supermarket.

On the days I don't do that I will go for a short cycle, or if it's really cold and I can't be arsed I ride up and down my street which is a big steep hill for half an hour to get some fresh air.

Again, some of us aren't staying in because we are scared of going out. Personally I have no desire to walk the same mile loop around my house dragging a 2 and 4 year old along who don't even want to leave the house anymore. Especially when it takes 30 minutes to dress them in appropriately warm and dry clothing following a month of storms and snow.

I'm really surprised at how many people are nipping to the shops or take away cafe.
I'm not anxious or 'going mad' inside - yes I'd rather be out in normal circumstances but have no desire to walk the same loop several times a week, children are all happy and busy at home

Working days- drop and collect kids from different childcare places and go to work.

No working days- drop one of at school and collect, take others out in morning and then again in the afternoon, may go out exercising on my own if I get a chance.
