So today is my birthday! Not a big one but still has been really crappy! No presents from my hubby just a card. No cards from anyone else either. Feeling really sad & down about it. What's your crappiest birthday?

My 21st was spent at my best friends funeral who had died of cancer at 20.

Hoppinggreen · 15/02/2021 16:33

Spent it by the bedside of my best friend who was in a coma following a car accident

My 40th. Last year. Just after they announced lockdown. Did fuck all for it. I’m waiting until all this is over and then I’m going to celebrate belatedly in style.

MrsMagoo99 · 15/02/2021 16:36

@ShutupAlex & @hoppinggreen I'm really sorry for your losses! Sending you the biggest & warmest of hugs 🤗 🤗 🤗 🤗

I was once admitted to hospital on my birthday! From what I remember I'd had a nice day until that point though.

Happy birthday x

KEVINChristmas · 15/02/2021 16:37

My dad died on my birthday four years ago. That was a bit shit.

huggzy · 15/02/2021 16:37

I should add that I usually feel really down and sad on my birthday, I don't really know why.

Dyinghouseplant · 15/02/2021 16:37

Happy birthday!!!! 🥳
My birthday a couple of months ago. Was the first day of a lockdown for my area and I was on my own for the day. Would love a day to myself usually but I felt miserable that day.

Thank you
She did actually survive but was never the same
She had been out dropping off a few invites for my 18th party when her car skidded on ice.

MrsMagoo99 · 15/02/2021 16:39

@RUOKHun I'm sorry your 40th was in lockdown, I hope this lockdown is soon over so you can celebrate! Sending you the biggest & warmest of hugs 🤗 🤗 🤗 🤗

This year we were moving and DH and I had a massive row. My 13th was spent driving hundreds of miles to watch my brother on a rugby tour in the pouring rain, 16th was spent camping with my family which I hated, I sulked the whole time😂 My 22nd, I was a single parent living in an area where I knew no one and spent it crying, no one even called to say happy birthday.

Thinking about it I've had many crap birthdays but also many good ones since I met my DH.

GoLightlyontheEarth · 15/02/2021 16:40

My 12th. I was on holiday in Greece with my parents and siblings who are much younger. I was sent to bed with them at 7 pm and thrown an orange as my parents went out on their own as a birthday present.

MrsMagoo99 · 15/02/2021 16:41

@hoppinggreen I'm really sorry your friend had life changing injuries! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

CaraDuneRedux · 15/02/2021 16:44

The one I spent in bad pain on an IV drip in hospital, nil by mouth, following a gall bladder attack which led to a severe infection.

I think it will remain my bench mark for crap birthdays.

MrsMagoo99 · 15/02/2021 16:45

@KEVINChristmas I'm really sorry for you loss, sending you the biggest & warmest of hugs 🤗 🤗 🤗 🤗

Admitted to hospital with pneumonia on my 40th.

harknesswitch · 15/02/2021 16:47

My 18th birthday. I was living with my abusive, now ex. He spoilt every single day that was important to me. I had the day off work and we'd planned to do something nice, he'd fallen out with me over something trivial the day before so wouldn't talk to me on the day, he went to work rather than spend the day with me, I was in bits as per normal, opened all my cards and pressies on my own, I went to go out and dropped my car keys down a drain so had to wait in the cold (car was locked), he wouldn't come and help me, so I had to call the AA out, they charged me an arm and a leg to get them out, he sulked even more when he realised how much it had cost so we didn't do anything that evening either, I had beans on toast for tea. Thankfully he's an ex now and even 30 years later I hope his knob falls off and he's unhappy.

But happy birthday op Thanks I hope you have a better 2nd half of your birthday

WingBingo · 15/02/2021 16:48

Just last week actually. I woke up with a massive headache and vomited a lot.

I had to work (wfh) and not one person mentioned it all day on the many video calls.

We had a Chinese for dinner but still felt poorly so I hardly touched it. Went to bed at 9.

Bells3032 · 15/02/2021 16:48

There's a number of crappy ones...I ended up having to have surgery as a i tore a hole in my ear canal and it was the only date the doctor could do.

Also had my 16th when my parents were away and my sister got hit by a car the night before (thankfully no major damage done), all my friends were away and i'd had a vomiting bug for weeks.

Or my 22nd when my now ex decided to turn up late to my birthday and then when i asked why he did that he said he wasn't really interested in anything serious.

WingBingo · 15/02/2021 16:49

Happy birthday @MrsMagoo99 Flowers

gamerchick · 15/02/2021 16:49

@Fembot123

When I was 9 my mum forgot my birthday.
Same here at a different age. Spent the whole day with my family and not one of them had remembered. It's a weird feeling. Flowers

Happy birthday OP Cake. Pencil in something just for you and make sure you return the favour for your husbands.

noirchatsdeux · 15/02/2021 16:50

The ones from 10 to 13...we were living in Bangladesh (this was late 70s to early 80s) so had no school, friends, television, shops etc. Life was pretty stressful and boring. To top it all my mother called me a bitch on my 11th birthday - probably because I'd dared to be upset about it all.
