I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

Just enjoyed a cup of cocoa

Nydj · 21/02/2021 22:28

In keeping with this thread, I have just spent a few minutes making seedling pot for sweet peas from old toilet roll tubes. These are fancier than previous years attempts as they have the folded bases like the one to the left of the photo

Those are very impressive Nydj, you must have been collecting them for some time.

How well does the cardboard hold up when you water the seedlings?

Lovely towels @MissConductUS. I replaced ours at Christmas and bought the next size up by accident. I'm only 5'0 so now I drag the towel after me like a train when I wrap myself in it after a shower. And I managed to get this rather marvellous photo of DS2 after bath one day.

DH did an order with Land's End a couple of weeks ago and surprised me with one of their cashmere jumpers. I wore it last week and felt fabulous all day.

Hope your heating is a swift fix @soddingkitten. How is Sodding feeling about his radiator bed being less warm than usual?

MissConductUS · 21/02/2021 23:44

That is an adorable picture of DS2, Eggy and I love that shade of blue. The link I posted is opening up the page to white towels for some reason. The ones I ordered are the Light Lake Blue. I'll post a picture of them in the bathroom when they arrive. I have some sweaters from LE too and they're lovely.

I'm only about four inches taller than you. I still like the bigger bath sheets and DH does too.

I like LE as well, I’ve spent the winter in their brushed cotton pintuck plaid tunics. They’re very forgiving.

Miffed I think, as he’s been draped over one or other of us all day. I just put him to bed in the kitchen and it is bloody freezing in there. 🙁 Stepping out of the living room (convection heater toasty) into the hall just now must have been a 10c differential. I’m considering going straight to bed in my clothes.

Welcome, @Thighdentitycrisis, and thanks for sharing your hot beverage news. I may have to go to Starbucks this week for one now that you've mentioned it.

I planted banana seeds with my son.

mathanxiety · 22/02/2021 04:37

Spent a few happy hours today compiling an 80s playlist on Spotify.

Also did two loads of laundry and made lasagna.

I'm going to look into Subarus, @MissConductUS. DD1 bought herself one last year and raves about it. I had a Legacy wagon years ago when I just had three DCs and loved it even though exH insisted on getting a stick.

Gilead · 22/02/2021 06:06

I’m off for my second cataract operation this week.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 22/02/2021 06:11

Gilead All the best!!!

Thighdentitycrisis · 22/02/2021 06:26

@MissConductUS
Thanks for the welcome! I find Cocoa is one of the smaller pleasures in lockdown life

soddingkitten · 22/02/2021 08:08

I forgot to turn my weekday alarm on last night and overslept. I was woken by DS2 singing on the landing.

Everyone, Sodding included, survived without the heating on. There was enough hot water for me to have a quick shower.

Spudlet · 22/02/2021 08:41

I have a parcel arriving today between the hours of 10.02am and 2.02pm. I find this level of precision timing quite alarming, tbh.

It is a pair of socks. Just the one pair.

Sunbird24 · 22/02/2021 08:45

I think I have confirmed I have a paprika intolerance. Thank you Pipers Chorizo flavoured crisps

Nydj · 22/02/2021 09:29

Glad all survived the night without heating at the sodding household and hope the plumber arrives to fix it soon.

All the best for the second cataract @Gilead.

@MissConductUS, sadly, since the return of DS from uni, it doesn’t really take very long at all to collect the toilet roll tubes. They are surprisingly robust and stand up well to watering when filled with compost and seedling.

Another fan of lands end here - waiting to see if they are going to sell their mixed materials tops this summer which I have lived in since summer 2019 and need replacing.

Nydj · 22/02/2021 09:30

That photo of your DS is just so adorable, @EggyPegg!

Gilead · 22/02/2021 11:39

Thank you!

Squirrel26 · 22/02/2021 11:46

I ordered a new water bottle and a plain navy blue T-shirt last night. What a day THAT will be when they arrive.

My thoughts are beginning to take the form of a Duolingo lesson. ‘Many men climb ladders.’ ‘Men are in the corridor, not in the office.’

Justmuddlingalong · 22/02/2021 11:51

We currently have sunshine and a lovely breeze. Watching the bedlinen blowing on the line is strangely calming and normal. I'm going to have a cuppa out in the garden.
DP's vaccine no1 appointment came through today, so all in all, Monday's shaping up not too badly, so far.

MissConductUS · 22/02/2021 13:51

Welcome, @Forfolkssake, and thanks for sharing your horticultural news. Are you going to grow them in a greenhouse?

OP posts:
EggyPegg · 22/02/2021 13:59

Welcome @Forfolkssake. We saw banana trees at the Eden Project years ago and couldn't believe the size of the leaves.

I listened to my Coffee Break French podcast on the way to work this morning. Lesson 6. It's been about talking about members of your family, but today they decided to teach us numbers in french through the power of song. I've known my numbers in French since I was 8, so I skipped to the end of the lesson.

I couldn't get on with Duolingo. People rave about it but I found it jumped from basic to advanced within a day. What's the secret?

Spudlet · 22/02/2021 15:17

My new socks arrived between the hours of 10.02 and 2.02. They feel like a significant upgrade from my Aldi running socks. I may well become spoiled by them.

EggyPegg · 22/02/2021 15:47

@Spudlet, decent socks are underrated. I was given some bamboo ones for Christmas one year and I was immediately converted. I'm slowly replacing all my old pairs with bamboo ones. Fortunately DS1 now wears the same size socks as me, so I've handed them down to him. He's currently wearing the Hufflepuff pair of my Primark HP set.
I'm currently sat at a skate park with the DC and I'm wearing some equestrian socks. It's like my feet are having a hug.

It feels like spring is in the air though. It's nice to be here in a hoodie rather than my massive coat (which is next to me just in case).
