I don’t think I’ll ever hear of a baby Gary.

I know two adult Gary’s and both are in their 50’s now

I know a little Tracy and an older teenage one! I've always liked the name.

Wearethechampionsmyfriend · 12/02/2021 19:56

I would have said Elsie, but I have an 11yr old Elsie in my class.

Someone upthread said they knew a little Humphrey, inspired by Death in Paradise? Kris Marshall’s character was called Humphrey.

Now they have a Neville. Will there be some baby Nevilles?

Putting in a vote for Horace to return! My dear Dad, Horace has just died, aged 98. He was the most extraordinarily wonderful man (bought himself a new Audi for his 95th and drove my Mum in it to the S of France!) and I can’t help thinking it’s a name that’s been overlooked. I realise this is not what the OP has asked! X

HideTanner · 12/02/2021 20:10

Horace sounds like he was a most suave and excellent chap, @MrsPumpkinPie. I'm sorry for you loss. Flowers

Michelle, Stephanie, Lindsay, Leanne (all really popular when I was at school but just can’t see it now!)

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 12/02/2021 20:21

I know a child Wendy, though I have to say I think it's an awful name.

HarrysWife · 12/02/2021 20:23

My DCousin recently named her baby Edna. It really makes me (secretly) laugh and I dont know why. Her other girls are Elsie & Eve so old fashioned but Edna just hits differently.

On "The Chase" tinight was a contestant , mid 30s called Donny

Maybe Donald but wants to shrug that off ?
Or his parents were Osmond fans ?

But I don;t think I've seen a Real Life Donny

DH and I both appear on here. We have a 10 year old Lucy for the person who said they didn't know of many little Lucy's.

I would say Fredrick is pretty trendy. Same for Enid.

My vote would be Derek.

Names do come back into fashion, though. When I was a child, Emma and Sophie were seen as the sort of names that your great-aunts might have; then they became very popular names for children. Since then, Amelia, Lily, Grace, Ruby, Arthur and Archie have all regained popularity.

I would guess that Fanny might not return to popularity, at least in the UK; and while there may be plenty of future Richards, they probably won't use the nickname Dick.

Karen probably won't be back for a while due to the current associations - a pity, as I like the name. Dennis has been out of fashion for a while, and I suspect that 'Dennis the Menace' is partly responsible. I suspect that Nigel, Jeremy and Donald will probably not be back till their political associations have been forgotten: if you call a child Nigel in the UK, half the population may be prejudiced against him, and if you call him Jeremy the other half of the population may be prejudiced against him. I would add Boris to the controversial list (not to mention that there's Boris the spider); but it was never a common name in Britain.

I would never have thought George would’ve made a comeback but here we are 😬

Not sure george has ever been that much out if favour , maybe not top ten but often used . I know several all of different ages

Beulah
Jamie

I know several children called Jamie, and a 20-year-old Beulah.

Ann and Mary aren't all that common these days, but there are plenty of Annas and Marias. And while not many young boys are called Alfred or Frederick, I've met several called by what used to be the abbreviations for these: Alfie and Freddie.

I would have said that Dorcas would not be the name of anyone under 80; but I have met a Dorcas who would be about 25 now.
