I'm a sceptic too!

I get really annoyed by any suggestion that I might be a Covid denier. Some, or maybe even a lot, of the official guidance I consider to be quite sensible. It's the ROOLZ that people scream at you about that drive me up the wall, and those restrictions that appear to have been brought in on the back of public pressure rather than scientific advice.

I'm probably more on the cautious side than most of you here but I love that there is room for so many different opinions in these threads!

DWPmisery1972 · 17/02/2021 11:26

Interesting... my mum always said I was a bit of a rebel... Grin

Thank you for the birthday wishes, it's today

My gift to myself is putting the phone on silent, I just want to pretend it isn't happening.

Those saying they are losing mobility, sorry but that sounds quite serious. I find it hard to go out in shit weather but much as I hate shops, I go to them now. I would go mad in the flat.

MaudesMum · 17/02/2021 11:45

Another sceptic here - and actually a pretty accurate summary about how I'm feeling. I suspect my friends/family wouldn't think of me as such, as they mainly tend to be more compliant than me, and I tend therefore to keep quiet so they don't think of me as a Covid-denier. Which is bonkers.

LadyCounterblast · 17/02/2021 11:52

@starfish88 Oh that sounds lovely... I love a seal. Right, I'm off to research holidays now. Fingers crossed we can travel again soon.

@TabbyStar Yes, well deduced! I've read the first few, some years back, and I'm revisiting them now on audiobook. Totally absorbing.

@BogRollBOGOF I love the Lake District too, Eden Valley as well.

Blobby10 · 17/02/2021 11:58

@AcornAutumn Happy Birthday!! hope you manage to get some enjoyment or at the very least do something a little bit different today FlowersWine

justasking111 · 17/02/2021 12:09

Happy birthday. For OH cooked his favourite meal, candles on the table.

justasking111 · 17/02/2021 12:11

[quote TabbyStar]I just did this lockdown personality quiz, it was quite entertaining and I came out as a sceptic (no surprise there!)

You don't have to give any identifying information

Blimey, I came out as Rebel. That has surprised me. Shock

TabbyStar · 17/02/2021 12:40

@justasking111 I've got access to The Times but I don't know which article it is, this is the leading one today www.thetimes.co.uk/article/e95b98b0-70a0-11eb-811f-f64a7b4cb430?shareToken=cabfc5741a05b791af6d37c73e4ced74

@LadyCounterblast I like those too, there's a new one, I used to reserve them at the library but can't do that now so waiting for the price to go down. I thought the last but one that I read had gone off the boil a bit but the one after that was better again.

bakingcupcakes · 17/02/2021 12:44

It's ok nightsky - you can join me and dwp over in the rebel corner! Someone else is with us too but i can't go back and look without losing my post. Grin I was surprised I was a rebel but I think I fit the description quite well.

bakingcupcakes · 17/02/2021 12:45

worldgonecrazy is a rebel too. I knew there was someone else!

Bollss · 17/02/2021 12:47

Checking in. Being to the second park that's had all he equipment removed. And for a bonus, this one was covered in dog shit.

Get your children outside they say, keep them healthy they say. But then remove everything you might use to aid that. Wankers.

I'm about to write a very lengthy formal complaint to the council.

flower11 · 17/02/2021 13:01

Thought I'd join in . I got sceptic too.

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 17/02/2021 13:01

Well, I am on a 63 bus outside Blackfriars on my way home from a supremely exciting solo trip into Central London to see the optician. Eyes have been tested, as have contacts and new glasses ordered. It has been lovely. Just chatting to the staff, who helped me choose new frames etc has been so refreshing. A walk through the City, a coffee in Paternoster sq and then bus home. Most excitement I have had in fucking weeks.

AcornAutumn · 17/02/2021 13:11

When the weather improves, I'm going to have a wander round the City.

justasking111 · 17/02/2021 13:33

I got skeptic.

Dang when OH wakes up must nudge him about the opticians. He did ten miles on bike today so is tired.

Wow, that’s unbelievably shitty. I’m in a playground with my DCs, watching the young men using the outdoor gym equipment. God knows how they got in as it’s surrounded by those movable metal fencing panels that are about 6 feet tall, and have been padlocked together and swathed in red and white tape, but good for them! They’ll be less of a strain on the NHS if they do catch it than the couch potatoes refusing to leave their homes.

Gratefulrunner · 17/02/2021 13:41

I am a stoic according to the quiz. Seems about right!

BogRollBOGOF · 17/02/2021 13:47

At one of the parks a short drive away there's a newish outdoor gym about 2 years old. Static equipment like bars.

Lots of men all over it, bringing out their kettlebells and TRXs. Much healthier than slobbing on the sofa with netflix and a welcome distraction from the locked up sports courts. I just don't see any justifcation for shutting it down. People are sensibly spaced and being healthy, it's such a low risk and massively outweighed by the benefits.

Sounds like my kind of view Wink

I too am a skeptic, I'm happy with that.

DH and I like the Lake District so much we went there for our honeymoon! Though as well as the walking and the tranquility (and trying to find places from Swallows and Amazons) I am rather fond of the Coniston Power Boat Records Week.

wanderings · 17/02/2021 14:59
