It's more bonkers than usual on 'that' board. I dip into it now and then when I feel particularly masochistic!

DWPmisery1972 · 16/02/2021 19:01

Thank you everyone for the gentle kick up the bum - I’m now having a health assessment tomorrow morning (ecg, bloods, height/weight etc) at my GP tomorrow and the dr said he would even like to meet me as he has spoken to me but hasn’t met me in person. Then I’m being referred to the community health team to treat me. And I ate today! Things are going ok. You guys have been so awesome keeping me positive through this.

My sick note has been extended for my coccyx but my work hasn’t paid me ssp so I’m panicking a bit about that but hey I’ve got loads of shit to deal with... whatever.

BogRollBOGOF · 16/02/2021 19:06

That's good news DWP.

justasking111 · 16/02/2021 19:09

So glad you are seeing a gp in person and that things are moving forward for you @DWPmisery1972

Iheartmysmart · 16/02/2021 19:09

Good news @DWPmisery1972 Flowers

TabbyStar · 16/02/2021 19:49

They've left marathon runners off the list. Everyone knows that Long Civid lurves marathon runners

Grin I've got an acquaintance who's had long covid who was a runner. She's had covid twice apparently.

Also hello. I'm still reading but I don't seem to have much to say as everything's so boring.

Taswama · 16/02/2021 20:08

Well done @DWPmisery1972 and Happy birthday @flower11 .

My mum told me today that my dad's best friend has terminal cancer and felt the need to say - "It's not Covid, but.." . I said there were definitely worse things than Covid.

Also, Women's Hour did a special on how mums are coping with working and home schooling with an interview with a woman who wanted to remain anonymous but felt very close to breaking point and ignored by her work. Had me close to tears. The woman from the Fawcett society was great and said something about others hardships don't lessen what you are going through, i.e. don't feel guilty because you are struggling even though you are not a key worker / single parent / CEV.

Gratefulrunner · 16/02/2021 20:08

I am a runner, sometimes a marathon runner. Not had covid, short or long!

Gratefulrunner · 16/02/2021 20:11

All this talk of there being more patients in icu than last year/first wave ... isn’t that partly because the treatment is now better therefore people surviving, albeit it involves a longer hospital stay ?

LadyCounterblast · 16/02/2021 20:26

Evening all, and happy birthday @flower11 Wine Cake

Worldgonecrazy · 16/02/2021 20:32

@flower11. happy birthday. Hope you get to celebrate properly soon.

Also if you are ill you will be admitted this year. During the peak, last year, hospitals didn't have so many wards that would admit Covid - if you were young you were expected to sweat it our at home unless you were practically dying.

I am pretty sure some were just left home to die as well.

God I just can't shake my bad mood today. I hate my house, I hate this life I am just hacked off with everything and honestly If I died of covid tomorrow it would feel like a relief.

I can't do another year of this existence.

Told Ds it was school hols yest, and he was like "but not proper holidays because we can't....." And then reeled off everything we can't do. The poor kid last went to a beach in 2019.

We literally went nowhere last year and this year's looking the same.

Fuck this. Fuck it all.

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 16/02/2021 21:01

[flowers][cake]@trustthegenegenie. Sorry it's a shit one today. In many ways half term throws up how little there is to do - it's bleak. Keep going.

Bollss · 16/02/2021 21:05

It is really really bleak. I think the house thing has just made it all worse. Dp bless him is being all positive and let's do this let's do that, we can do it in 6 months, the house will probably still be for sale and God I love him but I just want to curl up and die.

I just want to go to a beach. At this point I don't care if it's abroad. Just somewhere I don't live. In a house that isn't mine. It just looking more and more unlikely by the day.

Sorry, I'm just ranting now but I feel like I might explode.

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 16/02/2021 21:11

@trustthegenegenie rant away. You will get to a beach. It will be weeks as opposed to months and when you are there you have to take photos and post them here. We will all share your victory.

AcornAutumn · 16/02/2021 21:15

Hugs for everyone who wants them

Happy birthday flower. It's my birthday this week but I'm ignoring it. I only know one person who would come round and I'd have to tidy up. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Plus I'm desperately trying to lose weight.

I've noticed something and wondered if others have noticed it. I feel like I've lost the ability to string a sentence together, as per last year.

But I wasn't on MN at the start of lockdown so no way to compare. But I see evidence on the boards that people can't communicate. Constant "oh sorry I said this but meant that". So it's not limited to me?

Bollss · 16/02/2021 21:17

I really hope you're right. I will do! Grin

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 16/02/2021 21:20

@trustthegenegenie I know it. Looking forward to those pics.

ISaySteadyOn · 16/02/2021 22:15

Happy Birthday, @flower11! I hope it was as good as it could be.

justasking111 · 16/02/2021 22:18

I want to go out for a quiet lunch with the dogs on Anglesey, good walk, nice pub lunch enjoy the beaches. Not bothered about going on holiday at all any more.

I do not want to be afraid the police are going to pounce on me because I went out in my car and returned from the supermarket using the scenic route.

BogRollBOGOF · 16/02/2021 22:40

I keep wondering if I'm losing the ability to type... but that's probably largely connected to smashing my phone screen last May and not getting round to sorting it between my procrastinating ways and the general awkwardness of the world.

In a bout of motivation, I've taken down a Christmas tree and sorted out the outdoor lights today Grin
With Christmas not feeling like Christmas, and the term not feeling like a term, it's really not bothered me leaving them up.

flower11 · 16/02/2021 22:57

Our Christmas tree is still dumped in the front garden!
Thanks for all the birthday wishes, the weather has been good and the children have got along today so pretty good. Had pancakes and went for a walk on the beach ( sorry GeneGenie) hope you get to go soon. For any lurkers beach is walking distance from house. Had pizza and cake and lots of wine this evening.
Tomorrow it's supposed to rain again so more screens and baking to entertain the dc.

Dwp glad you are seeing the gp and hope it all goes well. And good wishes to all those who are struggling.

MercyBooth · 16/02/2021 23:17

fucked off with ppl pushing double masking. Some doctors have absolutely no fucking idea about the way some of us have to live

Again...what are you watching?! (Hypothetical).

Being very low news is sooooo nice. I recommend it.
