My CEV relative caught covid in the hospital a couple of weeks ago. I was kind of expecting it to finish her off but it hasn't thankfully. She's still in but only because she can't go home in case she passes it on.

bakingcupcakes · 14/02/2021 22:41

@LivinLaVidaLoki

Exactly *@ISaySteadyOn* It should be "stay home, protect yourself from the NHS,"
I love this! Grin
GADDay · 14/02/2021 22:42

Asking a dumb question.

What is an AD?

DWPmisery1972 · 14/02/2021 23:17

Hey everyone hope you had a good weekend. I get my bubble back tomorrow and I could cry tears of Joy! But I have to have my eating disorder assessment first in the morning. Get that over with and then I get to see my love, I miss him so much. And he vacuums and I fucking hate vacuuming. Grin

Re beige food we’re the same here; one of mine will eat a whole bag of apples or raw carrots if I let him and the other one will eat broccoli until he’s stuffed but I’ve got a freezer full of ‘easy food’ because exhaustion/fed up/coccyx injury etc. I can’t stand and cook a fuckin roast dinner or some fancy shite in my state anyway.

My arse is hurting! Nothing new there.

How are you all? My kids also watch Ryan btw

DWPmisery1972 · 14/02/2021 23:18

Also thank you to whoever recommended Imodium, my stomach has calmed down so much thank fuck

NannyGythaOgg · 14/02/2021 23:25

@GADDay

Here's the copy and paste from a previous thread...

Definition of AD
^AD stands for anti dementor.
There are creatures in Harry Potter called dementors, who suck all hope and happiness from you and eventually take your soul. Way back at the start of the pandemic thread after thread was posted on by posters like this and anyone who'd dare question anything or disagree with anything (like putting cheese in your coffee) was bullied off these threads. And so any actual discussion disappeared and it became an echo chamber of misery.

We are the antidote to that. We follow the rules, but not the "roolz" and we question and discuss with respect to each other. It's all very civil.^

And throw in random stuff like animal pictures and double entendres for a bit of a cheer up wink

@NannyGythaOgg thank you very much.

Totally get it.

BogRollBOGOF · 15/02/2021 00:30

In random news, we flocked off for a walk, found that it was covered in a sheet of ice, so stuck with a flatter route to avoid being a "Covidiot" mountain rescue statistic. That extra bit of daylight is making a difference compared to the start of the year.

Hopefully DS2 should be seeing neighbour in the park tomorrow, he sounded keen when I told him. I need to sort DS1 and bestie too.
DS2's finger has been sore; I was worried that it was an infection from an ingrowing nail... it turns out he's been chewing the skin off, then the scabby bit as it tried to heal. He's a bail biter anyway, and I don't know if moving on to skin is a stress reaction. He said he likes the taste Hmm

Introduced DS1 to the delights of the Hitchhiker's Guide tonight. He's already captivated by Mr Prosser's Ghengis Khan ancestry from his interest in the Mongolian Empire from his love of playing Age of Empires. Being a gamer is not all bad Wink

DWPmisery1972 · 15/02/2021 02:10

@BogRollBOGOF I’m so glad everything is thawing; I’ve been so worried about falling over on the slippery pavements!!

Furries · 15/02/2021 04:00
@Furries Yes. You have nailed it. Our cat was PTS in October 2016 She was 15 and a half. A tabby/tortoiseshell cross. It was so hard. Had to be done in the early hours, 12.20 am on 23rd October. My fur baby. Still miss her so much.
@MercyBooth - am so sorry, it’s really hard when they go. Pretty much everyone I know who has lost a pet remembers not only the date, but also the time.

I had to unexpectedly say goodbye to my boy at 3pm five days before the first lockdown. So that’s two shit anniversaries coming up which I’m not relishing. The only silver lining is that it was before lockdown, so I could be with him at the end.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but it’s kind of comforting to know that someone still misses them after 4+ years. I’ve spent the last 11months wondering if I’m a bit nuts re how hard it hit me.

110APiccadilly · 15/02/2021 06:48

We've had the most amazing set of icicles locally on a bit of rock face, so at least that's been something new to see on our walks! Desperate to be allowed to travel, even if only locally, for walks now though - I've done the three walks you can do with a pram from our house so many times.

bakingcupcakes · 15/02/2021 07:23

@DWPmisery1972 Good luck today. I'm sure it'll go ok.

@110APiccadilly Can you not travel somewhere local for walks? I've travelled locally to walk in different places. I don't leave the county other than for work though. I thought that was 'allowed'.

I'm busy filling our half term with stuff. It's quite hard as everything's shut but I'm doing my best. We're going out for breakfast and a walk today. We met DS's school friend (from his class) in the woods yesterday. It was bitterly cold but they had a great time. I'm planning a different walk with a mcdonalds tagged on later in the week. And a meet up with another school friend. DS is under strict instructions to say nothing about socialising outdoors with other children. I keep wondering how we've come to this. However, it's looking like it's going to be one of the cheapest half terms in living memory!

110APiccadilly · 15/02/2021 07:26

@bakingcupcakes I'm Welsh, we're still not allowed to travel for exercise. (Our glorious leaders tend to look at the English rules and ask how they can make them even more restrictive. Though tbf infants are supposed to be going back to school after half term.)

smallandimperfectlyformed · 15/02/2021 07:32

My dad died in 2000, not long after I turned 18. My family dog died in 1997. Obviously it was devastating that my dad died but I remember me, my mum and my younger brother chatting about them both in about 2007. We laughed at the memories but all of us ended up saying 'oh Rover(not his real name)' with a slightly wistful smile on our faces. The memories our pets give us are less complicated than the relationships we have with people- my dad (whilst I believe him to have been a basically good man) was a troubled, complex soul and made some poor life decisions. Our dogs bad decisions were eating the uncooked spaghetti my mum dropped and occasionally doing a whoopsie on the living room floor! So I don't think anyone who is mourning a pet for however long is wrong or should feel guilty for it. As long as you are not insensitive enough to tell someone who is grieving for their human you know what it's like as you are missing your pet then you're fine!

bakingcupcakes · 15/02/2021 07:36

@110APiccadilly How completely ignorant of me! Totally forgot that all the nations have different 'rules'! Grin I used to live in Wales so still have friends there but they're by the coast so easy access to a variety of walks. And most of them are still at work/have older children so I think the restrictions are less noticeable than they would be on mat leave. I bet you're bored out of your mind doing the same routes over and over. I agree that the leaders seem to be having some kind of competition with their rules. It disturbs me that this has divided the nations more than they were already.

110APiccadilly · 15/02/2021 07:52

To be fair, we've got nice walks from the house, it's just that a lot of them aren't doable with a pram, and in fact a number involve very steep bits/ scrambling that I'm not happy to do with a sling either (I have a tendency to be clumsy at the best of times, would like to avoid falling over with a baby strapped to me!)

The other thing about no travel for exercise is that I can't really take advantage of being allowed to meet someone for walks, which we've just been told we can do, as most of my friends don't live in the same tiny village as me.

Bollss · 15/02/2021 08:44

Morning all.

Dyed my hair red. Got the week off for half term.

Obviously got fuck all to do so we are going to flock to asda to get a chocolate orange for the cake were going to make later.

Got the plasterer coming to look at the final (!) Job this aft. Carpet fitter tomorrow and am hopefully awaiting a phone call today 're borrowing more on the mortgage. Wish me all the luck. I'll need it!

LivinLaVidaLoki · 15/02/2021 08:45

@TooManyPlatesInMotion and don't forget they've to stay shut until the buildings have either been demolished and rebuilt bigger or been extended significantly to enable social distancing. I mean that'll take no time right?
It's fucking bonkers.

I've been dying to ask if those asking for rotas in and out of school will be prepared to work through some of the holidays to make sure children get all the time they need I'm school. Particularly in exam years.

But I've been abused enough over there and I'll openly admit I'd only be asking for my own entertainment.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 15/02/2021 08:46

Good luck @TrustTheGeneGenie x

Bollss · 15/02/2021 08:47

Thanks @LivinLaVidaLoki And thanks for your support "over there" yesterday. I'm genuinely beginning to think some of them have lost the plot!

I don't understand all the frothing from some of the teachers over in the other place. If they think schools will never be safe and kids won't suffer at all from online teaching then why don't we get rid of schools, replace online teaching with central specialised teachers that will do it all remotely and just have a few that will work individually 1-1 through any issues?

I bet they would soon start screaming about how that wouldn't work, not in the best interests of themselves as we wouldn't need as many teachers the children.

Meinelieblingskatze · 15/02/2021 08:57

@NannyGythaOgg tbf the whole dementor thing is pretty much done and dusted isn't it ? People were naturally a bit hysterical at the start, what with the media coverage and ambiguous messages off the government. Things were bad in hospitals, it was unremittingly distressing for many of the staff who worked in covid areas. I think now, almost a year on, people are alot less emotional. I caught it beginning of november and am only just going back to work tomorrow, probably at some point in a covid area. I'm not massively looking forward to it Hmm

Bollss · 15/02/2021 09:01

I wouldn't say it was done and dusted at all, personally.
