I do find it interesting that those previous threads have always been full of fawning and daffodils, but this one is kicking off.

TheOrchidKiller · 14/02/2021 15:56

I feel your pain, @starfish88. Whenever I try to do anything creative with DD I end up with about twenty minutes of me setting up, five minutes of self directed activity from DD, and forty minutes minimum clear up. Not worth it!
Oh yes, remember doing that! That's what nursery was for!

After spending another hour disguising a cat worming pill as cheese/tuna/stinky cat food/butter/every other human food the cat tries to steal but isn't allowed, I have backed down & ordered a spot-on treatment.

At one point I realised I was crouching on the floor holding out a teaspoon of suspicious tuna juice at the cat, expecting him to open wide. Stopped myself saying, "here comes the aeroplane," just in time. I blame lockdown on the loss of rational behaviour.

ISaySteadyOn · 14/02/2021 16:20

Lockdown doesn't help but it is also likely to be this xkcd.com/231/

TheOrchidKiller · 14/02/2021 16:46

Ha ha, that's very good, and also explains the momentary idea that popped into my head to perhaps give the cat a smartie with the tablet because a smartie-chaser always worked with my small children & medicine. (Before anyone sets the animal welfare people on me, I DID NOT GIVE THE CAT A SMARTIE! But you can see my reasoning??)

Iheartmysmart · 14/02/2021 16:58

I think this may be you Orchid.

My parents sat praising Boris last night. Called him the best Prime Minister we have ever had. Although hes part of the reason they havent seen their son (DB) for months and DM cries about it to me on the phone. I reminded them that if this had been dealt with properly last year we wouldnt be in lockdown now. They said "Boris is going all over the country" No other PM has done that Confused We are supposed to be staying at home. Confused and hes making a nuisance of himself in labs. Why do so many swallow the media spin.

MercyBooth · 14/02/2021 17:09

And that he refused to come back from holiday last Feb when it all kicked off.

MercyBooth · 14/02/2021 17:16

@Furries Yes. You have nailed it. Our cat was PTS in October 2016 She was 15 and a half. A tabby/tortoiseshell cross. It was so hard. Had to be done in the early hours, 12.20 am on 23rd October. My fur baby. Still miss her so much.

Taswama · 14/02/2021 17:19

What's the daffodil club?

LivinLaVidaLoki · 14/02/2021 17:35

@Taswama it's a group of posters whose only response regarding opening schools was to call you selfish and post a daffodil.

DS just asked "what exactly does it mean protect the NHS" tbh, can't think of an answer that isn't "don't get sick cos they ain't got room for you"

Taswama · 14/02/2021 17:42

Thanks Livin . I was wondering if it was related to Wales somehow and they had U-turned on reopening schools there next week and I'd missed it!

ISaySteadyOn · 14/02/2021 18:32

I don't know, given the rate of nosocomial infection that even SAGE admits to, you're probably safer from Covid if you're not using the NHS.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 14/02/2021 18:37

Exactly @ISaySteadyOn
It should be "stay home, protect yourself from the NHS,"

SirSamuelVimes · 14/02/2021 19:01

Genius!!

Yep. Hospital was where late FIL caught Covid. Then they discharged him into the care of CV MIL who caught it from him (but is fine thank god). But no, make it all about take out coffees and joggers, by all means you lying government twats.
LivinLaVidaLoki · 14/02/2021 19:24

@Mrsfrumble Thanks
I'm giving up on that thread over there. I hate giving up as they then feel vindicated but honestly I gave it my best.

MercyBooth · 14/02/2021 20:02

Speaking of Government policies.

Firm paid millions for disability assessments broke Covid rules with Christmas party
EXCLUSIVE: Around 15 members of staff - who are mainly doctors, nurses and physios - can be seen pictured enjoying themselves at the Christmas party in mid-December

110APiccadilly · 14/02/2021 20:06

The daffodils were so absolutely childish.

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 14/02/2021 20:19

@LivinLaVidaLoki

For the first time I can remember, people are actually standing up against the daffodil club regarding school staying closed over there. The tide truly is changing.....
I have been over there this afternoon and eve. People are indeed standing up, but that is just pushing others into an ever increasing frenzy of vitriol. Some of it is so bonkers that it is almost funny. Only not. Vaccinate teachers? Yep, no prob. Ah, but the vaccine is not 100% effective and some kids are CEV. Close schools forever. We cannot keep your children safe. Join our union.

The only difference is that this time more posters are prepared to stand up to them. Good.

Worldgonecrazy · 14/02/2021 20:26

Interesting. I have always presumed it’s those repetitive ‘stay the fuck at home’ and ‘if everyone followed the roolz we will be out of this quicker’ to be the paid Government bots.

ISaySteadyOn · 14/02/2021 20:29

Me too.

NoisyBrain · 14/02/2021 20:44

My Aunt caught covid in hospital, having gone in for a broken wrist. She was then prematurely discharged and had to be readmitted a few days later and put on oxygen for a few days. She's thankfully now recovered, but it strengthened my antipathy towards the constant media guilt trip about people breaking the rules.

justasking111 · 14/02/2021 21:03

My elderly neighbour is still home because the paramedics admitted covid was rife in our hospital, she would probably catch it and in her state of health the outlook was not good. OH went for a pre op assessment in November, MRSA test was on the list of checks. Because that is also rife along with C diff. in our hospitals. They really want burning down.

All the little hospitals we had around here, Abergele for quinsy and other ent issues. Colwyn Bay for TB. Another in Colwyn Bay for having a baby. One in St. Asaph for babies. Some of these were isolation hospitals. So instead of building blooming great hospitals, why not have individual buildings for different types of patients. It seemed to work a lot better then. And give nurses back changing rooms and wash their uniforms for them.

It does seem to make more sense from an infection control point of view. Massive hospitals with hundreds of staff, hundreds upon hundreds of patients - it must be almost impossible to stop cross contamination.
ISaySteadyOn · 14/02/2021 21:58

Also, they are at absolutely boiling temperatures. Can anyone explain why to me?
