Another one heartily sick of cooking. With fussy kids and fussy husband so it's the same four or five meals over and over and bloody over and none of them have any vegetables in! Arghh. Made myself a veggie stir fry the other day and told DH to sort out him and the DCs.

We have far too much beige oven crap but I just can't face trying harder. Plus whenever I'm in the kitchen I either have to listen to (and run out to intervene in) WW3 starting in another room or deal with the youngest one trying to crawl up my leg because she wants a cuddle / wants to "help". So anything that requires time, prep, or concentration is out.

I see that the Torygraph are reporting all school kids back on march 8th. Given that Boris seems to like to brief the press first and see how it is received this is giving my a small degree of optimism. Of course the teaching unions are already saying no. Ffs. So glad I'm not paying money to be in the shit show of the NEU anymore. Most teachers are only in a union because of the legal protection if we get falsely accused by a kid anyway.
@wanderings I love seeing stuff like that. The local teenagers near me have been climbing into the locked skateboard area of our park. I approve.
I was at our local having a coffee and a walk with a friend, there's a separate play park with swings etc and a purpose built skate park. A couple of PCSO's came round, told the ONE person in the skate park that he had to leave as the council had said skate parks must be shut. One person on his own! My friend and I sat on a bench so we could watch. I was hoping they'd say something to us when they walked past us, as obvs we're killing grannies sat on a bench- nope not a word! They've laid big metal poles on the skate ramps now. But the swings, slides, roundabout etc are left alone, what's the reasoning behind that?

Curlygirl06 · 14/02/2021 11:16

Local park! Not the local (illegal lock in perhaps?) Lol

NeedWineNow · 14/02/2021 11:33

I’m so excited - we are going out, in the car, to the farm shop and then on to Boots as I urgently need a couple of things! I’ve got one of my smart bags and scarves out

Is this what life has become - getting excited with a trip that I wouldn’t have even thought about before.

TheOrchidKiller · 14/02/2021 11:41

@smallandimperfectlyformed
Hope you feel better today. Do you know what vaccine you had? Only curious as I also threw up a couple of days after my first dose & felt awful (I had AZ). If it's any consolation I had no problems after the second dose.
It could, of course, have just been a coincidence (my GP thought so).

Noticed the adult outdoor gym equipment in our park had lost its hazard tape the other day & was being well used by primary school aged children, because the playground area was busy. Good for them!

TheOrchidKiller · 14/02/2021 11:42

Enjoy your trip out, NeedWineNow! How exciting!

smallandimperfectlyformed · 14/02/2021 11:48

theorchidkiller I had the Oxford one, as did my niece. My mum had the Pfizer one and she was unwell the day after but not as bad as I was. Now just feeling a bit blah but so much better than yesterday! I really do hope that the schools reopen on 8th March, all of my girls teachers have said they want to be back in the school- the year 6 one said considering that they were never allowed PPE etc she thought loads of them were probably immune to it anyway! My children like so many others aren't really responding to me as a teacher and it's just made the house a bit of a war zone sadly. Happy Valentines Day to everyone, lots of love to all of you!

LadyCounterblast · 14/02/2021 12:16

I go in fits and starts with cooking. Sometimes I feel like it, sometimes I don't. During the week I can generally dredge up the enthusiasm but at weekends I just want to lie back and be fed prepared items by a well-wisher.

Some enterprising lad (who used to be in events catering) has set up a delivery-only butty shop somewhere round here so we sometimes order from him for lunch. He does a corking BLT.

The park here is always busy, because it's between two towns, but until about a week ago the children's play area had been chained off. Well now it seems to have been unchained. There were loads of parents and kids in there yesterday. It was lovely to see all the kids having a ball on the slides and swings, parents standing around with their takeaway Prets and Neros and Starbuckses. It looked like a small slice of normal.

Enjoy your trip out NeedWineNow!

Aztectrousers · 14/02/2021 12:25

smallandimperfectlyformed we had the Pfizer jab at work (nhs) and side effects ranged from nothing at all to people being ill in bed for days. Sounds like you are over the worst now and on the mend.
Feeling very down today and on the verge of tears. Anything can set me off.Fed up with cooking and going for aimless walks. Any positives and a way out of all this crap is immediately shot down by the press etc with some bad news. So I’ve had enough. And Facebook can fuck off with all the valentines shite as well!

justasking111 · 14/02/2021 12:29

Friend has been invited to take the DCs to her relatives farm today for a run around to see the animals, etc. they will love it. If the police call up there will be somewhat awkward coz one of the farming family living there are in the police force. Grin

justasking111 · 14/02/2021 12:31

OH got tea and hot cross buns in bed this morning and a card. He replied I thought we weren`t doing valentines. mmmm... he did eventually rise, popped out for wine and a bunch of rather nice spring flowers.

Tonights dinner, steak, mushrooms, tomatoes, vegetables and chips. His favourite meal and easy to make.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 14/02/2021 12:37

For the first time I can remember, people are actually standing up against the daffodil club regarding school staying closed over there.
The tide truly is changing.....

CruCru · 14/02/2021 12:40

I saw the Sunday Times today and got very excited. Then I went over to the Coronavirus topic. I mustn’t do that again.

110APiccadilly · 14/02/2021 12:47

Found out my dad has managed to accidentally decline his vaccine! Not too worried about it as I'm sure he'll be able to tell them he made a mistake, so I've decided to find it funny instead. I mean, how do you even do that?

chocolatesweets · 14/02/2021 13:24

Hi everyone - I love hearing the tide is turning posts.
I feel my brain is so slow and I'm worried if I'm sick or something but it might have something to do with kids being here constantly and nowhere to take them. Also started a part time job so juggling that. I'm so tired.
I don't know if it's also the fact that for a year I've been angry about it all. I was trying to change everyone's opinion and lately I've hit a brick wall. I've accepted lockdown and I've been depressed for a bit. I'm just knackered now. Normal I suppose?

ISaySteadyOn · 14/02/2021 13:37

Completely.

TheOrchidKiller · 14/02/2021 13:38

@chocolatesweets
Trying to post this link, not sure it will work if you click on it. Try putting "blurt it out coping foggy brain days" into a search engine if it doesn't.

www.blurtitout.org/2021/02/11/coping-foggy-brain-days/

I signed up to The Blurt Foundation (mental health charity) a few years ago & they helped me get through a bad patch. They send me weekly emails with useful stuff to look at (for free).

The brain fog link came yesterday. I can identify with it. It's hardly surprising you feel so tired, given what you've got going on.

justasking111 · 14/02/2021 13:46

Well the Amanda Holdman thread has been removed, I was looking earlier, rational posts supporting a welfare check on elderly parents. God knows what happened afterwards. But rationally who would not drive many, many, tiring miles to check up on them, put your head down for the night, then face the same journey back home. I feel a bit sorry for neighbours son, neighbour has led everyone a bit of a dance, but her son who is retired, unwell, gets in the car and drives up from England every time things go wrong.

chocolatesweets · 14/02/2021 14:10

Definitely brain fog! Scary! Stressful. I can't believe someone has the power to dictate how I can make myself happy in daily life. I don't care if I catch covid.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 14/02/2021 14:15

I now feel almost back to normal and thank you for the reassurance about the second dose theorchidkiller as that did worry me. Aztectrousers I know how that can feel, I hope you feel better soon. The doom spreading is awful, it does feel like whenever there is good news someone will be along to say we aren't ready yet but eventually we will have life back like it was.

NeedWineNow · 14/02/2021 14:50

We're back and it was lovely. Got some nice bits in the farm shop and then went on to our local shopping area. Went in Boots and Superdrug which were quiet. It was really nice to potter around and get my skincare and other bits. While we were out I got a text to say that our Argos order was ready to collect in our big Sainsbury's,, so off we wen. No restrictions about only one person in, plenty of room and no aisles blocked off. I even bought a new shower curtain - rock and roll!

Happily installed now in front of a Discovery of Witches with a coffee whilst DH does his regular Sunday lunchtime pint and chat Zoom meeting with his mates.

starfish88 · 14/02/2021 15:01

Wow @LivinLaVidaLoki and @TrustTheGeneGenie you're fighting the good fight over there. I think I'm getting a sympathy headache for you. It's funny that you're accused of not being real when I wondered about all the agreement. Anyone missing a few pairs of socks?

Anyway, I'm still trying to be positive but my mood swings wildly through the day. I tried to do the #makingmemories stuff today and made Valentines cupcakes with nearly 2 year old DS. Then spent the rest of the day scrubbing cupcake mix off all the furniture.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 14/02/2021 15:04

Oh have we been accused of that @starfish88 I haven't seen it in between the rest of the abuse.

Note how not one of them, not one have answered my question:

Given that almost 15 million of the most vulnerable have now been vaccinated and the seasonality of covid, why does everyone seem to think we are in the same situation as we were in September and October last year, that letting children go back will put us right back where we started?

SirSamuelVimes · 14/02/2021 15:05

I feel your pain, @starfish88. Whenever I try to do anything creative with DD I end up with about twenty minutes of me setting up, five minutes of self directed activity from DD, and forty minutes minimum clear up. Not worth it!

starfish88 · 14/02/2021 15:15

@LivinLaVidaLoki not you specifically but anyone who has a different opinion is clearly a bot for the government.
