We have pancakes all year but like to do it differently on pancake day

I've recently purchased a pancake maker so that can be on the table with all the dishes of toppings in bowls.

Have ordered some pancake shaped moulds too for the kids

Toppings I have so far

Nutella
Syrup
Lemon
Sugar
Strawberry sauce
Choc sauce
Marshamallows.
Choc chips ( the 3 year olds request?)
Jam (the 3 Yr olds request too)

Unsure whether to get maple Syrup I'm the only one that eats that so likely to go to waste as its not too of my list.

Yes the kids are on a sugar high on pancake day but hey ho. Haha (ill prob regret that come Tuesday)

Lemon & sugar.
or
Chocolate spread, raspberries (or fruit compote ds makes from frozen red berries) and cream.

My favourite are my dm’s pancakes which were very thin and more like crepes really with lemon juice and sugar - yum!

FoxInSocks2 · 08/02/2021 21:39

I love melted milk and white chocolate with strawberries and cream. I've tried savoury ones but they aren't as good. Choc chips in the pancakes is great too.

Cheeeeeese :) cheese crepes for the kids, I might do a pancake bake thing for me and dh. Did a spinach and ricotta one the other day and it was lush.
For sweet, classic lemon and sugar. Strawberry and Nutella.
Dutch babies for breakfast 😄

mathanxiety · 08/02/2021 21:43

I'll be making crepes and serving them with sugar and lemon juice.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 08/02/2021 21:44

Sugar and lemon juice.

Every day and (at least) twice on Tuesday.

IsitSummeryet21 · 08/02/2021 21:45

Tbf I do a mix of a thinner crepe and thicker pancakes. I prefer the thinner too.

Lemon and sugar!

CanIGoHomeNowPlease · 08/02/2021 21:46

We are fans of the thin pancake with freshly squeezed orange juice and sugar

fitflopqueen · 08/02/2021 21:49

Classic very thin ones with sugar and lemon juice here. Son has already said when is pancake day? he is 23!

Ladybird69 · 08/02/2021 21:49

Sugar included in the pancake mix, drop mixture the size of a lg cookie into frying pan then fried in butter. No topping needed. Just delicious.

HexWitch · 08/02/2021 21:50

Very thin pancakes for us with golden syrup

Labobo · 08/02/2021 21:50

maple syrup or golden syrup
freshly squeezed lemon and sugar
homemade Chantilly (double cream whipped with a teaspoon each of vanilla essence and icing sugar) and fresh strawberries or raspberries
banana and cinnamon

nocoolnamesleft · 08/02/2021 21:50

Savoury course: ham and cheese
Sweet course: half of them sugar and lemon juice, half nutella and banana

YouBoggleMyMind · 08/02/2021 21:51

Lime juice and sugar 😋

Thunderpunt · 08/02/2021 21:52

Oh my god, we've gone a week early! I thought it was tomorrow so have made a huge jug of batter for tomorrow Grin

SaigonSaigon · 08/02/2021 21:52

Might attempt, for the first year ever, the chicken and bacon findus crispy pancakes-style of my childhood and dreams...

Followed by pudding pancakes of lemon and sugar for me & maple syrup for the kids

Ohdoleavemealone · 08/02/2021 21:53

I'm making American pancakes just because I have mastered them to be honest. I'm going to add blueberries to mine.
Kids will have Nutella and maybe banana.
If we have them in the evening we might have ice cream on them.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 08/02/2021 21:54

Just a practise go then thunder

No harm done Grin

Ace1185 · 08/02/2021 21:56

My ds doesn't like homemade ones so it's shop bought for us with butter and jam or chocolate spread 😋

Galliano · 08/02/2021 21:58

I always have sugar and vinegar...highly recommend

SpinningBob · 08/02/2021 22:00

We have them every Friday night hereGrin I also wanted to do something different for pancake day so am interested in all the answers! We don’t put sugar in the mixture so can have them sweet or savoury. Adults here tend to like various versions of cheese/ham combo,or crispy bacon and maple syrup. Last week was chicken Mayo with sweet corn and made them more crepe like. Sweet toppings are usually Nutella/jam/lemon curd/honey. I like a big dollop of Greek yoghurt with blueberries and a drizzle of maple syrup or honey for my sweet ones. I may be slightly over invested in this thread!

Draculahhh · 08/02/2021 22:00

We have what I call pancake cannelloni, bolognese sauce in a pancake smothered in cheese sauce. Sounds minging, but it is delicious and very filling.

Sidewalksue · 08/02/2021 22:00

Nutella/fruit and squirty cream!
DD has syrup.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 08/02/2021 22:01

Stew! I love stew on top of pancakes with the crispy edge poking out from underneath the gravy. I sometimes wonder if it's a strange thing only our family does though because I've never heard of anyone else doing this.

Other that that, I just like a bit of sugar or a small drizzle of honey.
