We have pancakes all year but like to do it differently on pancake day

I've recently purchased a pancake maker so that can be on the table with all the dishes of toppings in bowls.

Have ordered some pancake shaped moulds too for the kids

Toppings I have so far

Nutella
Syrup
Lemon
Sugar
Strawberry sauce
Choc sauce
Marshamallows.
Choc chips ( the 3 year olds request?)
Jam (the 3 Yr olds request too)

Unsure whether to get maple Syrup I'm the only one that eats that so likely to go to waste as its not too of my list.

Yes the kids are on a sugar high on pancake day but hey ho. Haha (ill prob regret that come Tuesday)

I just like good old lemon and sugar but I am trying to lose my lockdown weight so no pancakes for me this year Sad.

Disfordarkchocolate · 09/02/2021 19:37

Butter and sugar on pancakes.

Maple syrup of fluffy American pancakes, with strawberries if possible.

Chocadoddledoo · 09/02/2021 20:41

Sugar and vinegar.

You can't beat lemon and sugar.

I remember they gave us pancakes with cheese and baked beans at school though.

Norwayreally · 14/02/2021 23:05

Boring lemon and sugar. DC like syrup or Nutella.

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 14/02/2021 23:17

Lotus spread! It's amazing!

BeBesideTheSea · 14/02/2021 23:24

I will be having leftover tikka masala wrapped in crepe for main course, followed by vanilla sugar and fresh lemon juice.

Dominicains · 14/02/2021 23:27

I’m going to try and make Gözleme (Turkish pancakes with yoghurt in the batter) as DS ate them nearly every day of our two week holiday last summer. He liked the feta, spinach, mushroom and walnut filling, and then banana nutella for pudding. I doubt they will be anything like the amazing wood fired dustbin lid cooked ones from the street stall but I will try. Failing that, normal pancakes with golden syrup.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 14/02/2021 23:36

We have lemon and sugar, Nutella and lotus spread lined up

sonnysunshine · 14/02/2021 23:42

I like doing a savory course (cheese & bacon, mushroom and herbs, spinach and ricotta)
Followed by sweet (lemon & sugar, banana and chocolate, maple syrup and berries)

sonnysunshine · 14/02/2021 23:43

@Dominicains nicking the feta, spinach etc one all my favourites!

CandyCaneLane0 · 14/02/2021 23:44

Raspberry ripple ice cream

katy1213 · 14/02/2021 23:56

Crêpes Suzette. Except it'll probably end up being lemon and sugar because it's easier.

@galianno - that sounds interesting. Wine vinegar or a fruit vinegar?

GaryUnicorn · 15/02/2021 00:35

Biscoff spread and apple sauce on the same pancake

safariboot · 15/02/2021 00:37

Sugar and lemon, the classic.

Once a year here. Crepes made to a French cookbook recipe, though I never manage to make them quite as thin as a real crepe should be.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 15/02/2021 07:03

Lemon juice and caster sugar.
Gdcs only ever want Nutella. I have to buy a small jar for them, otherwise I end up eating all the rest with a spoon. 🐷

I used to do a savoury thing, rolled up pancakes with prawns in a cheese sauce inside, in a dish with more cheese sauce on top. Delish, but rather too much of a faff.

Peanutbutterblood · 15/02/2021 07:07

American types ones made here, with smoked bacon, golden syrup and banana

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 15/02/2021 07:07

I might do a vaguely crepes Suzette thing - butter and sugar melted in a pan, orange and lemon juice and plenty of Cointreau added, each pancake immersed then folded into quarters. I don’t bother flambé-ing them though - quite yummy enough without.

PigletJohn · 15/02/2021 07:49

Warm syrup and squeeze a lemon or orange onto it

Possibly add cream

Squirty cream is a poor substitute

Use a ladle to measure the amount of batter

Fry in butter

AlexaPlayWhiteNoise · 15/02/2021 08:19

Fluffy American pancakes with crispy bacon and maple syrup. There will probably be strawberries and chocolate chip ones too.

Sceptre86 · 15/02/2021 09:10

Fruit and maple syrup.

CovidPostingName · 15/02/2021 11:00

Thin pancakes with any of the following,
Lemon curd
Chocolate spread
Cherry conserve

And for a black forest vibe, combine the chocolate soured wirh a dollop of cherry conserve!
