There is some awful behaviour on here.

It breaks down badly at 4 minutes.

I just watched that second YouTube video. Honestly appalling. They should be ashamed

Someone needs to remove those three councillors ASAP, the chairman, Barry and angry Aled.

JMAngel1 · 06/02/2021 08:18

What is the purpose of this meeting and this parish council?
What do they actually do? Other than argue about the correct procedure to conduct the meeting.
The whole exercise seems utterly pointless and just full of retirees who still want to cling onto some deluded version of authority.
Please tell me they don't get paid.
I found something very sinister about the people in Aled's IPad stream.

Roussette · 06/02/2021 08:32

8I second Sue for chairman. She seems a balanced person and has the same curtains as my mum. Motion carried*

Thank you thank you thank you. That made me laugh so much hahaha

This is brilliant!

Els1e · 06/02/2021 08:41

😁

PurplePassionFlower · 06/02/2021 08:43

Yay Jackie Weaver is now on BBC Breakfast. What a Legend! Go Jackie! Go! 👊🏼

Roussette · 06/02/2021 08:44

Jackie Weaver on BBC news now!

Roussette · 06/02/2021 08:50

What is good to me is.... Jackie comes across well, she is sympathetic, sensible, she is now asking for younger people to consider going on Councils. She has her head screwed on right.

Then there's the wanker blokes. Digging in and looking stupid to the whole world.

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 06/02/2021 08:51

Damn - just missed it.

AtlasPine · 06/02/2021 08:52

She admits to how frightening this aggression would be in person.

I found the screaming man very triggering. I’m nearly 60 and can remember the icy fear when older male teachers kicked off like that. Bastards.

PurplePassionFlower · 06/02/2021 08:52

Jackie rocked on BBC Breakfast! I really hope her plea for a younger and more diverse crowd to get involved in their local parish councils pays off. They need an injection of positive energy ASAP.

As an aside is the vice chair related to the other chap he's sat next to? I wondered if they were father and son?
The vice chair has serious anger management issues to put it mildly. What must he be like when something really serious happens to him or has this just tipped him over the edge after a rough year?!

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 06/02/2021 08:52

I know a parish clerk who says these bodies are full of older men of this ilk. They're always trying to get younger people involved but then they put them off with their poor behaviour.

I live not far from Handforth and there's stuff on local FB pages that is an eye opener. Apparently the VC and his family have been banned from several local pubs for bullying behaviour. He threatens legal action all the time.
PurplePassionFlower · 06/02/2021 09:02

@IstandwithJackieWeaver - Like the name!
That doesn’t surprise me. Do you know if the VC and the chap he’s sitting next to are related? If not, I was wondering how/why they were sat together in a time of plague?! They must have created their own extremely aggressive bubble!

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 06/02/2021 09:06

I know none of them personally (I hope). Looked to me as though the older man was is father and attending the meeting as a member of the public.

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 06/02/2021 09:06

His not is

TheresOnlyOneJackieWeaver · 06/02/2021 09:09

I’m glad for you too @IstandwithJackieWeaver that you haven’t had that misfortune to meet them personally. That’s what I assumed too, father and son.
I’ve changed my username in Jackie’s honour BTW. 😂

Roussette · 06/02/2021 09:12

So agree with this tweet...

'Jackie Weaver spending the whole day talking to journos about the importance of getting involved in Local Govt, making real change and women standing their ground?

We absolutely love to see it'

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 06/02/2021 09:19

The biggest takeaway from all of this for me is that we need to look at who is representing us locally and their records. There are local elections in May and that's the time to do something about this kind of hideous mis-management by self-serving types.

Youngatheart00 · 06/02/2021 10:01

Julie’s IPad and her flushing toilet for Chair!

Yes. I tend to just read whatever blurb is on the website when deciding who to vote for in local elections, but having seen this I think I need to try to hunt down some meeting footage.
Colate · 06/02/2021 10:37
@Colate I have found out that my particular area of town doesn’t fall under any specific parish and is represented by one ‘county councillor’ which poses more questions that it answered Grin
I have been a town cllr. and a district cllr. and I have to admit I find some of the UK's local government structures difficult to understand. There are four different local government structures. See www.gov.uk/understand-how-your-council-works and en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Local_government_in_England
If you have a county cllr., it sounds like you have a two tier Shire authority, also known as a non metropolitan county authority.
You should also have a town cllr. as you live in a town instead of a parish cllr. (Town councils are just large parish councils with a bit more money.) and a district councillor. You should also have a district cllr.

Arobase · 06/02/2021 10:52

I'm not surprised Councillor Brewerton is a non-practising solicitor, his knowledge of the law is appalling - unless, of course, he is deliberately misrepresenting it.

In the January meeting he quotes "legal advice" he has obtained from some councillor but refuses to supply a copy because he claims that it's protected by legal advice privilege and says that if people ask for copies they will be the subject of non-molestation orders.

If it's advice from a councillor as a councillor, not as a solicitor, then it's not legal advice privilege. LAP refers to communications between a lawyer and their client. If the councillor is a lawyer, it appears that he's giving advice to the council as a whole, so one member of the council can't claim LAP as against other members. Brewerton gave a long account of what he claimed the advice contained, and clearly wanted the council to accept and follow the advice, therefore if there was privilege he waived it. Finally, asking for a copy clearly isn't molestation and if he applied for a non-molestation order he would be laughed out of court.

If that's an illustration of his legal knowledge, I doubt that anyone would ever offer him professional negligence insurance.

JackieweaverhasALLtheauthority · 06/02/2021 10:57

Yes the Aled's ipad duo are father and son.

jackieweaverhasauthorityhere · 06/02/2021 11:01

I'd hate to see Angry Aled under real pressure

JackieweaverhasALLtheauthority · 06/02/2021 11:03

God yes. He must be terrifying.
