There is some awful behaviour on here.

It breaks down badly at 4 minutes.

You Have No Authority Here Jackie Weaver would make a great username Grin

Many moons ago I worked for the local council and had to sit in on planning committees. This is exactly what they're like - teeming with sexism, petty squabbles, turf wars, tantrums and outbursts. I always though, if more of the general public knew what their elected representatives were really like, they'd stage a bloody coup.

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 05/02/2021 01:28

Take Aled bloke's tone of voice, the way shrieks at Jackie then calls the man he's with an "old fool" makes my blood run cold. He's the epitome of an abusive man.

DowntonCrabby · 05/02/2021 02:01

That was amazing. It had elements of something Ricky Gervais would write.

bumblenbean · 05/02/2021 02:05

Brilliant. Jackie reminds me of that woman that did Ladette to Lady and some kind of cooking show - rosemary Shrager?!

An understated highlight was when it flips to one of the men and he has his back to the camera - just see the back of his head Grin

Bloodypunkrockers · 05/02/2021 02:20

Just seen the clip and it's so bad it's funny

Go Jackie. Even if she has no authority here Grin

MercyBooth · 05/02/2021 02:30

Lol. Grin It happened two months ago. Was it uploaded to you tube today?

Maskedcrusader · 05/02/2021 02:42

Thanks for posting this, it really cheered up a long nightshift. I just sat with one of my residents, we had a cuppa & watched it. I haven't heard her laugh so much in a while. Well done Jackie.

Kljnmw3459 · 05/02/2021 03:24

Oh no, my job has a lot of similarities to Jackie Weaver's job. Thankfully the chairs have always been very competent and professional so I haven't had to kick anyone out! Don't think I'd have the guts to do it tbh.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 05/02/2021 04:02

Priceless! Like a real life 'Staged'!

MysweetAudrina · 05/02/2021 04:44

If you didn't know, you would think it was an episode of a Ricky Gervais show.

TomatoesAreFruit · 05/02/2021 05:07

Jackie Weaver for Priminister

ChessieFL · 05/02/2021 06:00

That was hilarious! I can’t believe how rude some of those men were.

Travelledtheworld · 05/02/2021 06:41

I am a Parish Councillor ! We don't have this sort of mayhem in our meetings. Fortunately. A good parish clerk is worth their weight in gold.

banivani · 05/02/2021 06:45

I work in a similar field and this is being sent to all my colleagues thank you. I can’t believe people act like this knowing they are on camera God in my experience that puts everyone on their best behaviour.

Professionally I am also curious about some finer points like what is the clark’s role (shouldn’t it be clerk?) and what is “proper officer” and who can put someone out of a meeting because where I am it’s absolutely only the chairman so I’m very curious.

Indecisivelurcher · 05/02/2021 06:54

And this ladies and gents, is how planning decisions are made...

kitschplease · 05/02/2021 07:05

In all my meetings today I'll be thinking "What would Jackie do?"

Dastardlythefriendlymutt · 05/02/2021 07:05

@banivani clerk is pronounced as "clark" so it is a clerk as you are saying.

Dastardlythefriendlymutt · 05/02/2021 07:06

No idea what a proper officer is or why the clerk's role is so important.

SushiGo · 05/02/2021 07:09

The proper officer is the clerk. (Which can be said Clark but is spelt with an e) they essentially advise the Council and enact their decisions. Depending on how big the Council is they might also be writing the minutes or their might be other staff.

I haven't watched it yet but I assume that's Jackie!

thecatfromjapan · 05/02/2021 07:19

banivani I'm guessing the Chair has been not very good as Chair. Some of the Councillors have been trying to organise a meeting (possibly to instate a new Chair? Something else?) & he has over-ruled them - as Chair - and refused to hold the meeting.

So the two Councillors have gone o er his head & asked for the proper clerk of the council to act as proper officer, hold the meeting, officiate at it, etc.

Which she has done.

It's so funny - but I'm sure part of the reason it's gone viral is because it reminds a lot of us of similar meetings we've been in.

SushiGo · 05/02/2021 07:23

@Indecisivelurcher

In this case, thankfully no - parish council will only be a consultee not the planning authority. They can say what outcome they want and why but not make the decision.
NoAuthorityHereJackieWeaver · 05/02/2021 07:27

She was a remarkable clerk, and obviously very experienced - all hail Jackie Weaver!

Crumpetloverrr · 05/02/2021 07:29

Jaw-droppingly bad! Poor Jackie.

lachy · 05/02/2021 07:31

I've sent this to my colleagues Grin

because we deal with this sort of nonsense every single day
