There is some awful behaviour on here.

It breaks down badly at 4 minutes.

It's fake

Ohthatsgreat · 05/02/2021 20:09

listening true, good point. Ugh. Can only hope this spurs good people on to get involved in local politics going forwards.

CleanQueen123 · 05/02/2021 20:25

That second video is just as bad. Did the councillor really threaten a member of the public with a non-molestation order if he requested a copy of the letter that was read out?

I'd really hope that he'd be laughed out of court if he applied for a non-mol under those circumstances.

NiceGerbil · 05/02/2021 20:26

Yes that Twitter account is fake lol

I thought you meant the original video for a minute!!!

mootymoo · 05/02/2021 20:32

I used to minute them. Nightmare! People on it for years ignoring or belittling anyone newer who dares cross them. In all honesty they need term limits on these positions, 8 years max and no married couples or relatives can stand at the same time

changingmine · 05/02/2021 20:44

I thought it was depressingly similar to many a mumsnet thread where a poster poses a perfectly reasonable question and gets pulled apart/abused (let's call it what it is) for writing style/spelling/grammar, and is belittled and sneered at presumably for the audacity of asking for support, by a very staunch few who take it upon themselves to derail threads, mock and abuse others. That very unattractive need for control at any cost rearing its ugly head.

I think we need a waiting room /exit button in here.

Awww, thanks

@Ohthatsgreat

The more I think about this, the more angry I get that most women will have come across these horrible, shouty, arrogant men during the course of their careers. How these men get away with their behaviour when we are in 2021, it’s just wrong. Jackie is a CEO, not some admin person yet those men spoke to her without a modicum of respect. I can think back to loads examples in my career where an unprofessional shouty angry man has taken over meetings and belittled others.

We are all Jackie and we are all fed up of these men.

Would honestly love to hear from women who are married to/partnered with these dickhead men. Are they different at home? Do you know what he’s like at work? Does it honestly not put you off?

The most loud mouthed arrogant man I ever worked for was completely and utterly ruled by his wife. It was horrible listening to him screaming and shouting (he only tried it with me once) but totally hilarious to hear him when she phoned, he was all yes dear, no dear, sorry dear, of course dear.

He went to prison in the end, no one was sorry, I doubt very much she was waiting for him when he got out.

Well, it's been a long day for Jackie Weaver and I see she'll be on The Last Leg, tonight.

MarshaBradyo · 05/02/2021 21:11

Ah good on her.

JackieweaverhasALLtheauthority · 05/02/2021 21:17

That's brilliant!🤣

wowfudge · 05/02/2021 21:19

The fake Twitter account is funnier than the actual footage.

JackieWeaverHandforthCouncil · 05/02/2021 22:21

That fake Twitter account is hilarious!

elkiedee · 05/02/2021 22:34

Aled Brewerton is a qualified solicitor but the Law Society website indicates that he's non practising, and the article mentions that he works as an investigator.

elkiedee · 05/02/2021 22:42

I thought that generally parish councillors aren't political party candidates, unlike borough/city/county councils who usually are. Apparently in the last parish council elections in Handforth, there was one Conservative and one LIb Dem candidate, the Handforth Ratepayers Association (which is a registered political party and also represented in in other local government tiers, platform appears to be independence for Handforth from Wilmslow, which suggests some layers of class snobbery within the upper middle classes of a fairly fancy bit of Cheshire, in easy commuting distance of Manchester and several larger great Manchester and Cheshire towns etc)

Pebbledashery · 05/02/2021 22:43

This is quite possible.... The most hilarious... Thing I've watched for a very long time.
I was crying.
It was the bit when Barry says "you don't know what you're taking about" and John's inane laughter.... That just started it for me.
Thank you for brightening up my miserable day with this 😂

Floridaflipflops · 05/02/2021 22:56

It’s on the news at ten ShockGrin

Ho, that is brilliant!

So they're being investigated anyway for inappropriate conduct and possible inappropriate use of public funds - and now this! Dearie me. Couldn't happen to a more deserving group of 3 appalling bullies.

jackieweaverhasauthorityhere · 06/02/2021 00:18

Just seen a news clip with JW. What a ledge. I shed tears laughing at parts but couldn't believe the aggression at a parish council meeting! Pretty uncomfortable viewing in places how they spoke to her.

Furries · 06/02/2021 04:43

It seems that Jackie was “parachuted in” ti try to resolve matters - and blooming good on her for the way it was handled.

But I’m also blooming loving Sue - she’s obviously putting up with this crap all the time, the second video clearly showed that.

So I’m almost more Team Sue right now!

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 06/02/2021 05:28

Sue is definitely an outstanding character - she doesn't bite back, she doesn't resort to their level, and she's obviously pig sick of the way they behave, but she just walks her own road and tries to do the right thing.

I vote Sue for Chairman.

FortunesFave · 06/02/2021 06:57

Can you IMAGINE the outrage on those crusty old wankers faces!
Els1e · 06/02/2021 07:06

I second Sue for chairman. She seems a balanced person and has the same curtains as my mum. Motion carried.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 06/02/2021 07:08

@FortunesFave - it would be glorious to see, wouldn't it?

She was so dignified in the face of their frothing misogyny!
