There is some awful behaviour on here.

It breaks down badly at 4 minutes.

It gets better. Bored teenager breaks the internet and makes Jackie a star!

Aww Jackie is being interviewed on the local news she is coming across really well

KerennotKaren · 05/02/2021 18:13

On a more serious note, an investigation is now underway. The comments of Peter (accidentally) "NaughtyStep" Moore are illuminating, not just about the PC problems with rogue councillors but also on the sterling work done by ward councillor Julie Smith and others during the pandemic.

In answer to your question OP , no, our Zoom PC meetings are never like this, there have been some heated debates amongst the public attendees though.

borntobequiet · 05/02/2021 18:32

Shaan, 17, said he discovered the clip while his unusual pass time of watching old council meetings online.
Shaan said: “In my spare time, I watch random videos of council meetings because one, I have a massive interest in policies enacted by local authorities, and two all of these videos are usually absolutely hilarious — from old councillors struggling to use zoom and amazing arguments, but none have ever matched Handforth!

Teenagers. Don’t you love them when they surprise you with “pass times” (sic) like this!

I wish I had your faith.
The investigations have been going on for YEARS

20% of Parish Clerks resign every year

UNTIL the Committee on Standards in Public life
grow a pair
and bring in strong sanctions (at all levels)
NOTHING WILL CHANGE

minchinfin · 05/02/2021 18:35

Shaan needs to get out of the house more once lockdown ends Grin

JackieWeaverHandforthCouncil · 05/02/2021 18:43

Absolute quality. Think of the poor women married to the the Brewertons.

Definite clap for Jackie next Thursday!

Redburnett · 05/02/2021 18:46

I was almost tempted to become a troll and pretend to be the 'Chairman's' wife.

JackieWeaverHandforthCouncil · 05/02/2021 18:51

You can bet that the shouty guys have been Question Time audience members.

Used to live somewhere where the Village Design Plan went out to all households with photos of new builds with smart, unobtrusive iron fences around the gardens. These were emblazoned with a big red cross through and a photo of their 'correct' option, a naice hedge.
Problem was, it was a small place, and the fence photos were clearly identifiable as to whose house it was. And they were OUTRAGED at this impunity, being singled out for such criticism. Fummin (!) even.
The Facebook page was overrun with good natured trolling of said occupants: 'You're undesirable Alan!' 'This simply isn't good enough, Alan, what's the world coming to indeed'.

GellerYeller · 05/02/2021 19:03

And if it's not been said already please can Jackie change her Zoom screen name to 'it's Britney, Bitch' 😊

I would love to be a fly on the wall in some of their houses tonight. Are they getting a bollocking from their families for their disgraceful behaviour or are they all sitting round the dinner table together bemoaning how the world has misunderstood them and deliberately portrayed them in a bad light when really they are the only ones keeping the village in line and i fit wasn't for them.....

Ohthatsgreat · 05/02/2021 19:41

The more I think about this, the more angry I get that most women will have come across these horrible, shouty, arrogant men during the course of their careers. How these men get away with their behaviour when we are in 2021, it’s just wrong. Jackie is a CEO, not some admin person yet those men spoke to her without a modicum of respect. I can think back to loads examples in my career where an unprofessional shouty angry man has taken over meetings and belittled others.

We are all Jackie and we are all fed up of these men.

Would honestly love to hear from women who are married to/partnered with these dickhead men. Are they different at home? Do you know what he’s like at work? Does it honestly not put you off?

Damn, then I would need to change my name again.

Even if she'd been the lowest ranking person in the Council, there is no excuse for shouting and attempts to intimidate.

I know several.

Why do you think their wives encourage them to get involved with the council Wink

The ONLY way to stop them is

  • stand for election
  • campaign for the return of the standards board
JackieweaverhasALLtheauthority · 05/02/2021 19:51

one of them is the mayor!

Roussette · 05/02/2021 19:51

@Ohthatsgreat
No, not married to one but my DF was one.
I'm old though so maybe, as an excuse, it was a generation thing

There is NO excuse for how he/they were

I don’t just mean about councils.

I was also meaning men that hold senior positions in private firms that I’ve worked in that behave terribly (like tolver). I can’t stand in an election to oust them Confused (if only I could)

ListeningQuietly · 05/02/2021 19:56
