There is some awful behaviour on here.

It breaks down badly at 4 minutes.

Jackie Weaver - an example to us all. This is what we middle-aged women have to put up with all the time. If only it was so easy to kick them out of the meeting in real life!

minchinfin · 05/02/2021 12:15

He's called Cllr Aled Brewerton

His LinkedIn profile says he is "Experienced Solicitor with a demonstrated history of working in the legal services industry. Skilled in Legal Assistance, Arbitration, Dispute Resolution" - really?

Can he be sacked?

YouhavenoauthorityJackieWeaver · 05/02/2021 12:15

I want to watch more!

Roussette · 05/02/2021 12:16

@HerselfIndoors

As I understand it, anyone can attend these meetings. In our village they are advertised in our newsletter and you can go to them.

If anyone on here has watched 'This Country' with Daisy May Cooper and her brother (funniest series EVER on iPlayer, cant recommend it enough), you should know this is what village life is like!

Spudlet · 05/02/2021 12:17

@minchinfin Dispute resolution?! Really?

fromdownwest · 05/02/2021 12:21

@minchinfin - He ceratinly did not display those traits on that call for sure.

BeautifulStar · 05/02/2021 12:21

That’s the kind of man who tailgates you all the way home because you dared to overtake him. Headlights on full beam (of course). Or starts screaming at you in the street for some other minuscule slight. The kind of man who cuts you up for a parking space or shoves in front of you in the queue. What a vile individual.

That’s exactly what it reminded me of - the man who screamed at my (12yo) daughter and I and got out of his car swearing at us and filming us on his phone because he thought it was “his right of way”. I remained as cool as Jackie and after telling him his behaviour was disgraceful backed up to let him through. The idiot then turned into his driveway letting me know where he lived....and il let you draw your own conclusions from that!

aliloandabanana · 05/02/2021 12:22

Well, they were never going to take any notice of Jackie as 1) she's a woman and 2) she hasn't lived in their village for at least 30 years.

Dreadful behaviour and indicative of a lot of parish councils unfortunately. They aren't interested in achieving anything for the areas they live in, they just want to feel important and feel they have some power over others.

HangryPants · 05/02/2021 12:23

The second video is just depressing, but I did enjoy the bit where the Chair is asked to share the minutes which he does by holding a piece of paper up to the screen.

HUCKMUCK · 05/02/2021 12:23

'The fact that there were no meetings is irrelevant'!!

minchinfin · 05/02/2021 12:24

" I take chargeeeee" - I can just imagine that man punching his fist into his wife's face. I seriously hope he isn't married.

Sameshirt · 05/02/2021 12:24

I’ve been to lots of Parish council meetings and it’s always certain people(men) on a power trip. Not listening and just doing what they what.

JackieweaverhasALLtheauthority · 05/02/2021 12:26

Just again....handdorth is NOT a village. Itvis a big, urban suburb next to the airport.

Bluntness100 · 05/02/2021 12:28

@Alansbiggestfan

I work as a Parish Clerk and this was shared by a councillor this morning. The Chair's take on it was that Jackie Weaver was in the wrong and should be sacked. Hmm No comment of the behavior of any of the others...
That’s worrying, did anyone disagree with him?
wowfudge · 05/02/2021 12:29

Arbitration?! Well he's not demonstrated the temperament you'd want for that.
VintageDiamonds · 05/02/2021 12:29

If we needed further proof that Richard Curtis and Dawn French are geniuses here it is.

aliloandabanana · 05/02/2021 12:30

@JackieweaverhasALLtheauthority Actually, I know that, so don't know why I said village! Muddling it up with my experiences of a parish council in a village I think. It's the same thing though - people are on the PC for years and feel that only others who've been in the area as long as they have can have any idea about their PC or their area.

LApprentiSorcier · 05/02/2021 12:32

@LalalalalalaLand123

It's like a Ricky Gervais comedy - it's got everything! "Ian you're on mute!"
Yes. If they'd had Zoom meetings back when The Office was made, that would have been a comedy goldmine for an episode.
wowfudge · 05/02/2021 12:32

He's non practising according to the Law Society and works as a private investigator.

TBH, the more solicitors I encounter, the more I think that this is a required personality trait....

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 05/02/2021 12:34

@JackieweaverhasALLtheauthority

I disagree — it runs from the Belfry at one end down to the Blue Bell. Then it's bounded at the sides by Styal Golf Club and the back of Handforth Dean and the industrial estate.

It really isn't that big.

Botherfreedays · 05/02/2021 12:36

Jackie was interviewed this morning, have any of the obnoxious men commented since it went viral?

Flamingosarentreal · 05/02/2021 12:38

i loved it when the screen cut to Roger Small and all you saw was the top of his chair-- reminded me of the Mr Men

Roussette · 05/02/2021 12:39

What I would like to know is this....

How would the meeting have gone if it was Jack Weaver, a man. And not Jackie Weaver.
I bet they wouldn't have been so disgusting

Loogaborooga · 05/02/2021 12:40

If you want a laugh / despair, go to your local council website and find the complaints received about councillors. Ours includes a complaint about permission to use a bookcase with legal action threatened if the complainant used the bookcase. Working for a council, my personal theory is councillors get elected thinking they'll have some power, quickly realise that they have very little (because so many decisions are dictated by national guidance or they aren't part of the ruling party) so cling on to the little bit of power they do have and use it for all it's worth. The chair of Handforth PC perfectly illustrating this.
