There is some awful behaviour on here.

It breaks down badly at 4 minutes.

I need to improve my investigatory powers and learn to read properly: he's a professional investigator, not a PI.

Lweji · 05/02/2021 12:41

Thankfully not. But it was the best thing today so far. Grin

It's the type of thing you watch in comedy shows and think that people don't actually behave like this.

FortunesFave · 05/02/2021 12:43

Why are they all so OLD? Not being ageist....I've moved to Oz and over the past 5 years I've kind of got used to much younger counselors.

TastyTicklemore · 05/02/2021 12:46

@Botherfreedays

Jackie was interviewed this morning, have any of the obnoxious men commented since it went viral?

@Roussette

What I would like to know is this....

How would the meeting have gone if it was Jack Weaver, a man. And not Jackie Weaver.
I bet they wouldn't have been so disgusting

The Clerk who was "suspended" is a man hence why Jackie was brought in. They are badly behaved bullies.
Roussette · 05/02/2021 12:47

They are all so old because these sort of men (and women sometimes) have a stranglehold on these small parish councils, so why would anyone in their right mind want to join and put up with this sort of awful behaviour.

It's like the retired guy down the road who watches out his curtains and jots down all the numberplates of anyone who comes in his cul de sac. Power. Boredom. Nosy. Ego trip.

minchinfin · 05/02/2021 12:48

if you read up on the background to it all (slow day at work :)) him and Aled had been trying to sabotage it for 6m and Jackie had been boughy in by the others (opposition) to try and mediate. Utter dicks.

TwitterTwatterofTinyMinds · 05/02/2021 12:49

It was glorious! I loved the calm, rational, procedure based shutting down of ranty men, by a woman who totally knew her stuff. In time gone by I'm sure all you needed to do to win was rant enough, be aggressive enough. But not now. There's a new sheriff in town. Jackie Weaver. Clerk, Assassin, Clerk again.

redsquirrelfan · 05/02/2021 12:52

I've got to say that I find this quite astonishing, that adults would behave so badly on a call which they know is being recorded.

Very embarrassing.

Love the bit "I find this all very disrespectful". "that's rich coming from you as you're from Birkenhead".

Quite astonishing.

Same sort of mentality as the other thread about elderly people having a go on Facebook about people not clapping for Captain Tom.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 05/02/2021 12:52

Comments on the Mail online depressingly misogynistic.

PegasusReturns · 05/02/2021 12:53

They’re so pompous and officious and far too caught up with their own self serving politics to actually consider the objectives of the meeting and how they should support the parish.

Seems like the members of the public that dialled in have the measure of the chair.

bellver888 · 05/02/2021 12:53

That is so funny hahahahaha

Why did the fake Handforth PC Clerk start the meeting with
“Fuck off” 😂😂😂😂

Bubblefart · 05/02/2021 12:53

I don't find this funny, I find it horrifying. (Not a dig at the OP)

2021vision · 05/02/2021 12:54

Apologies if this has been posted but evidently Jackie Weaver is chief executive of the Cheshire Association of Local Councils and had been called in to act as clerk - or proper officer. So I think she was asked to attend because maybe there had been problems.

I completely admire her cool, what a woman! That Aled bloke should be ashamed of himself, what a vile person he is. I see that, according to the Manchester Evening News, Mr Tolver has refused to apologise and accept he did anything wrong. These men are so pathetic!

Lweji · 05/02/2021 12:55

Same sort of mentality as the other thread about elderly people having a go on Facebook about people not clapping for Captain Tom.

That has been taken down as probably untrue.

lightand · 05/02/2021 13:03

She didnt have authority apparently.

Comments on twitter too. It really is like we are going backwards.

No point holding any meeting, until authority has been sorted out.
No wonder it descended into chaos and farce.

ancientgran · 05/02/2021 13:09
@ancientgran - To be fiar, I woudl not feel too happy about hard earned money for a school being sent to an unknown entitiy abroad.
It was more of a reality check than anything, I mean arguing about how many times kids washed their hands (I doubt my two mucky son's were adding to the paper towel shortage) she had actually calculated how many times the average primary school child would go to the loo during a school day, that they needed two towels not one and then found out the school budget for them and finally how much it cost to provide what she considered enough. A bit of research can be useful but it was ever so slightly boring to be rapidly followed by the carpet debate, less noisy but harder to keep clean. Then we had the debate of should we buy educational resources, some very much liked this but the Head believed it was wrong as schools in less affluent areas couldn't do it and if it became the norm (I think he was right) it would create inequality. I mean hours of arguing because this because this beautiful new school didn't actually need anything.

If I remember rightly I think after my suggestion it was very quickly decided to buy some play/sports equipment.

I thought it worked rather well.

ancientgran · 05/02/2021 13:14

@minchinfin

please tell me these aren't paid roles? imagine if you behaved like this at work - you're be dismissed almost immediately!
I used to be clerk to the parish council and I got paid quite well for a very part time role. The councillors didn't get paid but they could claim for expenses.

They were all very right wing, very anti doing anything near the social housing in the village and some of them quite racist. I resigned in the end as I couldn't bear listening to them any longer. Fortunately I didn't live in the village so didn't need to see any of them outside meetings.

FatherBuzzCagney · 05/02/2021 13:15

That’s the kind of man who tailgates you all the way home because you dared to overtake him. Headlights on full beam (of course). Or starts screaming at you in the street for some other minuscule slight.

Exactly this. Worrying, then, to see that he's a trustee of a local charity that works with potentially vulnerable people (ex-prisoners). Wonder how consistent his behaviour is with their code of conduct - not at all, if it's anything like this.

Glenchase · 05/02/2021 13:15

Well someone was quick off the mark 😂

The whole "you have no authority here" reminded me of The Two Towers, with Jackie as the newly anointed Gandalf The White of course!

Covidcorvid · 05/02/2021 13:19

It was appalling behavior from the men there.

But do they have a point even if they made it very badly?

If she isn't a Councillor and isn't the parish clerk what authority does she have to kick elected Councillors out a council meeting?

Aquagirl19 · 05/02/2021 13:23

This was the laugh I needed today. Cracked me up watching this!
