...and they're both straight and single.

A, They went on holiday together
B, She move into his place
C, They found a place to live together

Would you think :
A, He just wanted to be friends
B, He wanted to become a couple with this woman

Please, if you take the trouble to answer this, don't overthink it.
I'm after your initial reactions. A or B?

Why would he automatically want to become a couple?
I’m guessing you’re the woman and you want to start dating your male friend.

2typesofjungle · 02/02/2021 07:33

A

Chocolateteabag · 02/02/2021 07:35

Just a holiday could be friends(but probably more) but add B & C and I'd say couple

However you don't give enough info to really decide

But that's my gut reaction based on what you've put

Swingometer · 02/02/2021 07:36

I would assume B unless they are lifelong (platonic) friends

Toorapid · 02/02/2021 07:36

I think in most circumstances it would be B, but as there's doubt, I'm assuming he's saying it's as friends, in which case, I'd take him at his word and not be expecting anything more.

If the woman involved is hoping for more, she needs to step away to protect herself from years of longing.

Winterpaw · 02/02/2021 07:37

I'd assume A and that he wanted help from a platonic friend in splitting the bills...

WeAllHaveWings · 02/02/2021 07:37

You wouldn't "think" anything. Assuming they are both grown ups they would discuss fully what it meant as it could be either.

Shakirasma · 02/02/2021 07:37

It would totally depend on how long they had been friends and how well they know each other.

Eg, since childhood or university and always been close - A
Friendship in adulthood of less than 4-5 years - B

TomatoesAreFruit · 02/02/2021 07:39

Hard to know without seeing the dynamic between the man and woman but I think B.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 02/02/2021 07:39

A. Room mates.

Why would there be an assumption of anything else?

NoWordForFluffy · 02/02/2021 07:41

A. He'd ask her on a date if he wanted to be part of a couple with her.

MargotLovedTom1 · 02/02/2021 07:41

Surely if he wanted to be an couple he'd ask her for a drink/date first. Seems a bit 0 - 60, even if they're already friends, to suggest one of those options as a romantic thing without anything else happening first?!

Norwester · 02/02/2021 07:44

C. If his intentions are not clear to the woman at this point (suggesting holidays and living together) then he has the communication skills of of a termite.

Has she asked him?

FudgeSundae · 02/02/2021 07:47

I think no one should move in with anyone if they can’t have a proper conversation about the nature of the arrangement.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 02/02/2021 07:47

C = hes instigating a back up plan

NailsNeedDoing · 02/02/2021 07:48

B

MonsterKidz · 02/02/2021 07:49

b

Berline · 02/02/2021 07:51

Ah there's a C option.
Appreciate it if you explain.
This is obviously about me and a guy I've become close to in adulthood btw.

OP posts:
LApprentiSorcier · 02/02/2021 07:54

You've left out the critical piece of information as to whether this pair are having sex or not. If not, A. If yes, B.

Berline · 02/02/2021 07:54

See I think I'm being manipulated here. On one hand, it's like he says he doesn't want anything really serious but on the other he's suggesting these things.
I think option C, has something in it.

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 02/02/2021 07:55

It’s obvious you want a relationship.

AtlasPine · 02/02/2021 07:55

Yes - are they intimate?

starch23 · 02/02/2021 07:56

@WeAllHaveWings

You wouldn't "think" anything. Assuming they are both grown ups they would discuss fully what it meant as it could be either.
Exactly
CormoranStrike · 02/02/2021 07:56

B, but I would expect you would know from the lead up whether romance was on the cards for either

fuckrightoff · 02/02/2021 07:58

If you are sleeping together = couple, if you aren't and haven't for a long time then could be friends or the C back up plan
