No E or A names
Scottish nod (both Elliot & Arthur are also clan names)
Needs to be a saint name
Agnes for a middle name

Beatrice and Frances are both lovely names but they don’t go with Agnes. Too many sss sounds. Is there a reason why you can’t just use Agnes?

Mummy7777 · 02/02/2021 01:06

Oh definitely Kristen- modern too. I'm not sure any of the names you gave work well with Agnes.

Puffalicious · 02/02/2021 01:21

Scottish here too and my 3DC have very Scottish names but all boys!

My top names for girls at the time.were:
Morven
Beth
Maisie
Mirren
Muirne ( pronounced Murrin)
Rowan
Isla

Possibly could use Christine instead of Agnes as a middle name

Flora my favourite if can get husband to like

Could use Agnes as fn but already have an A name, also don’t think my husband likes it

Have a cousin and neighbor Isobel but like the name, also Isabella

Have a niece Katherine who goes by Katie

I have a 10yo Flora. Everyone else mentioned the margarine when we suggested it but the only people who have mentioned it since she was born is us! "No, not Laura. Flora... like the margarine". She's not bothered at all. It's a gorgeous name.

MessAllOver · 02/02/2021 06:46

Bernadette
Camilla
Ida
Helen

gildalilly · 02/02/2021 06:46

I came on to say Nancy but I'm not sure she's a saint.

itsgettingweird · 02/02/2021 06:57

Charlotte

itsgettingweird · 02/02/2021 06:57

I also like Matilda.

And Phoebe or Grace

user47000000000 · 02/02/2021 07:03

Felicity Agnes

But I am not sure it is saints or Scottish! It does sound lovely though.

user47000000000 · 02/02/2021 07:06

Matilda, Margot, Phoebe or Grace would be gorgeous too. Congratulations OP

RoaryLyons · 02/02/2021 07:08

Heloise? Not formally a saint but close?

RoaryLyons · 02/02/2021 07:09

Oh sorry missed the Scottish connection

Mollymalone123 · 02/02/2021 07:10

What about Mabyn?

Mollymalone123 · 02/02/2021 07:11

Mabyn is a saint but Cornish/welsh -sorry!

yellow25 · 02/02/2021 07:14

I don't know if you are Catholic, but there's an excellent group on FB called Catholic Baby Naming Discussion. Think it's based in the states but they'd definitely have done great suggestions!

I personally love Margaret out of the ones I've seen here. I would use the nickname Margie! My friend has a little Maggie (Magdalena).

All the best. xx

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 02/02/2021 07:15

Bear in mind Margaret Agnes shortens to Maggie Aggie (and kids WILL do that once they find out her middle name...)

moose62 · 02/02/2021 07:21

Lydia
Matilda
Theodora
Florence

Ikeameatballs · 02/02/2021 07:23

When name combinations start and end with a vowel sound it can be really hard to say them without adding in an R sound between the vowels eg between the end A of Flora and the start A of Agnes. Try saying Flora Agnes quite quickly, in natural speech. When I do it it sounds like Flora Ragnes. Not sure if a. Scottish accent makes a difference.

For what it’s worth I would stick with one of your first name choices and swap out Agnes. What about Jean as a middle name?

Christina Jean
Frances Jean

Or

Penelope Frances
Matilda Frances

NearWildHeaven · 02/02/2021 07:25

I love the name Cecelia. It's beautiful and classic and I know of a baby shortened to Cece. Christina is also nice and Margot but I think you need the T.

Something strong and classic goes with your boys names, which might be clans but aren't overly Scottish iyswim. If you hadn't said about the clans I wouldn't have known Blush

willowstar · 02/02/2021 07:29

Georgina or Maud. No idea if saint named though. Iona is lovely. The Iona community is religious....not sure if a saint!

willowstar · 02/02/2021 07:32

My Scottish granny is Georgina Agnes.

Bumpsadaisie · 02/02/2021 07:34

I thought Jane - nickname Janie.

Elliot, Arthur and Janie.
