Inspiration please!
Tomorrow will probably be a roast, but something interesting for this evening? 2 fussy children (I can adapt for them) and 2 adults.

Tex Mex. Everyone gets to help themselves so no waste or fussing

MrsDThomas · 30/01/2021 09:59

Chicken curry tonight and Christmas dinner tomorrow. I got a large fresh turkey crown on Christmas Eve for £4 so I froze. Can’t wait!

parrotonmyshoulder · 30/01/2021 10:00

Christmas dinner! Brilliant.
Tex mex/ fajitas works well for us too (if I don’t notice that the DC ignore the vegetables).

We had butternut squash and bacon pasta last night.

Foghead · 30/01/2021 10:01

Tonight we’re having burgers, wedges and salad.

starrynight19 · 30/01/2021 10:02

Nice steak for me and dp , takeaway for kids.
Roast for tomorrow.

feliznavidad2 · 30/01/2021 10:05

Homemade pizza this eve, we have it every now and again since lockdown anyway but have recently started using Paul Hollywood's dough recipe and it's amazing.

Chinese tonight
Roast chicken tomorrow.

So so so so so so bored of thinking about food.

FenEel · 30/01/2021 10:05

Yesterday we had Jamie Oliver’s white fish tagine - DS1 picked out the olives but otherwise it went down OK.
Tonight probably beef stew with dumplings
Tomorrow probably Sainsburys Southern baked chicken recipe from their web site but I don’t like it so might have halloumi and salad.

Motherissues2020 · 30/01/2021 10:07

We're having burgers, wedges and corn on the cob tonight and coq au vin with baked potatoes and veg tomorrow.

I've got a new cookery book, the quick roasting tin, that I've been trying some new recipes from recently. I'd recommend it. Lots of veggie ideas and good for midweek and lunchbox stuff too.

SymbollocksInteractionism · 30/01/2021 10:07

DH has already prepared the meat to make homemade donnor kebabs, just needs put in the oven.
We are also having a delivery of pizza dough and toppings from one of our friends who has a pizza business. There's left over rice from last nights tea so will make some fried rice too.

badpuma · 30/01/2021 10:08

We had a Persian food box delivered yesterday with dips, bread and kebabs. It was utterly lovely - supposed to feed four but will comfortably do 8 - we're having it for dinner today too with more salad.

troppibambini6 · 30/01/2021 10:10

We are having pork and bean casserole for dinner tonight and roast leg of lamb and apple strudel tomorrow.
It's lunches I find hard and the kids are sick of sandwiches, I don't really want to start cooking two meals a day though....

TierFourTears · 30/01/2021 10:11

Giant sausage roll tonight.
Roast chicken tomorrow.

Its lunches I struggle with. Came home last week to discover DH had given the kids pot noodle with fried slices of pork pie on top Envy

Fivemoreminutes1 · 30/01/2021 10:11

Tonight it’s loaded wedges www.slimmingworld.co.uk/recipes/nacho-style-feast
Tomorrow I’ll do pulled pork and serve it warm in brioche buns with coleslaw.

parrotonmyshoulder · 30/01/2021 10:15

Thanks for all the ideas. I’m okay with the weekday rut - boring but necessary - but don’t want the drudgery at the weekend.
I’m just remembering a delicious sausage casserole I used to make (Delia!) and it would be very easy in the instant pot. Kids won’t eat it - they can have grilled sausage and mash.

No idea. So bored with trying to come up with things. Last night was bread and cheese!

ODFOx · 30/01/2021 10:23

Since first lockdown I've discovered microwave pouches of quinoa mixed with other grains.
So tonight we'll be having baked salmon with roasted pepper and courgette and microwaved Mediterranean grains. Less effort than boiled egg and soldiers.

Nooch · 30/01/2021 10:25

Tonight we are cooking Borek (with tofu instead of feta) falafel, pita, hummus and tomato salad. Cooking gives me something to do and my only 1 of my 2 children are fussy but loves falafel, hummus and spinach.

WithIcePlease · 30/01/2021 10:29

I'm making a mushroom curry for lunch as it's raining. Recommended on MN a couple of days ago
Family shocked as we always have fresh bread, cold meat, cheese etc 😂
Tonight DD doing jackfruit tacos
Prawns with garlic etc tomorrow night
Monday, having frozen fish pieces and DD doing sweet and sour roast cauliflower
Tuesday I'll do a shoulder of lamb in slow cooker

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 30/01/2021 10:33

Richmond sausages, chips and a value tin of spaghetti. Cheap and cheerful. Would have had a slice of bread and butter as well but my breads gone mouldy. Tea will be either chicken or curry noodles

CandidaAlbicans2 · 30/01/2021 10:43

Oh, I was going to suggest sausage casserole. This is my fave:
www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/sausage-bean-casserole
Normally I add grated carrot to it, and add smoked paprika instead of chorizo, and it's lovely (I'm having it for breakfast now).

You say your children are fussy eaters so what are their likes and dislikes? I have lots of recipes I could suggest but no idea if they'd be suitable.

HeyMicky · 30/01/2021 10:45

Over baked "fried" buttermilk chicken with slaw and chips. I've seen variations about six times on social media this week so I've taken it as a sign.

Making our own Chinese dumplings tomorrow

parrotonmyshoulder · 30/01/2021 10:46

DC 1 Likes: beige
Dislikes: everything else
Tolerates: various veg but not within the main meal.

DC 2 - as above with more ham...
