Poor DH shit himself then went to work

Literally.

DH made spaghetti bolognese for tea this evening using mince we bought from Lidl on Monday. We put in the freezer until today.

It was in date by several days when we bought it so shouldn't have gone off (especially as it was frozen immediately upon returning home) but it did smell a bit different when he was cooking it.

Within a couple of hours of eating it he's developed a bad stomach and had an accident on the way home from taking DSC back to their mums.

He showered and sorted himself out then left to go to work (nights)

He's now texting me saying he thinks he needs to come home as his stomach is very painful and he's on the verge of being sick.

If this was 24 hours later I'd be thinking he has food poisoning, can that take hold so quickly?

He hasn't eaten anything else.

I'm just bracing myself for the children to get the same..

I've NC'd for his sake as we have loved ones on here and he'd be mortified if they knew.

Oh, enough. I have a mouth ulcer, is that covid too?

Why are you being so ridiculous? Loads of posters on this thread alone have said it was their first symptom, many more IRL.

You think you're being so exceptionally funny but really your just making yourself look like a tit.

An upset stomach is a common symptom of the new variant.

Also, we've been in 'the middle of a pandemic' since last fucking April.

Right, but we've only had the new variant over the winter. Doesn't take a genius to put two and two together.

People are merely suggesting the DH isolates and gets tested.

I don't know why people on this thread are getting so hysterical about this.

ineedaholidaynow · 29/01/2021 15:01

If you think the mince smelt funny but actually now don't think the mince was off, you could put odd sense of smell and stomach upset together and think COVID. If 18% of people report gastric issues with COVID that isn't really a minor symptom to be ignored.

borntohula · 29/01/2021 16:43

@eatlovemerry oh, no. A complete stranger on mumsnet thinks I'm a 'tit?' Absolutely gutted!

If there is a chance it could be Covid, just tick the box for the symptoms and book a test. DP, DS and I all tested positive with none of the classic symptoms.

Whattheduck · 29/01/2021 16:58

@borntohula
Actually I had a mouth full of ulcers when I had covid so i’d get yourself tested

Quarantino · 29/01/2021 17:02

Just to reiterate it's really worth getting the Zoe app and inputting any symptoms (or lack of) daily. You often get invited to test even if you don't have the 'main' symptoms.

It's really worth being away of common other Covid symptoms. Otherwise we'll never drive down the number of cases...

I'm a bitConfused at people laughing at people in a pandemic suggesting it's covid. Hate hearing of people being turned down for covid tests on the basis of symptoms, the range of them is huge and a year later you still have people saying 'but I'm fine, I dont have a cough'

Suzi888 · 29/01/2021 17:14

I have sensitive tummy, I’ve been sick within around 2/4 hours of eating something, doesn’t have to be off just too rich. Whereas DH and DD would be fine.

Hope you are all ok! Don’t boil wash yourselves Wink

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 29/01/2021 17:27

Get him tested for COVID. A lot of people have gastro-intestinal symptoms....

BashfulClam · 29/01/2021 17:32

Sounds like mild food poisoning and he will be sick most likely. I had this after heating spaghetti bolognese in the microwave. Everyone else who bc ate it was fine but I wasn’t home for dinner. It must have been unevenly heated as I didn’t stir it or heave to stand. A few hours after eating it i was violently ill.

Backbee · 29/01/2021 17:36

People aren't laughing, but man eats dodgy meat that the rest of the family have only a tiny amount of as it tasted rank, man shits himself a few hours after, and the logical conclusion rather than sounds like food poisoning but he should perhaps act like it could be covid, is must be covid. As if people haven't been shitting themselves in the street prior to it.
