Bizarre food combos?!

BabyBee93 · 27/01/2021 15:36

Sat here eating lasagne spread over some potato waffles for lunch and it's got me thinking about all the weird food combos I love and curious as to whether anyone has any stranger?

Some of my favourites include:

Ham and marmite on toast
Sausages and mayonnaise
Scrambled eggs with gravy granules
Grapes and hummus
Olives and Camembert on toast

Any advances? Grin

Peanut butter (spread first) and avocado (chunky cut) on toast. Yum.

Lsquiggles · 27/01/2021 15:39

Bacon super noodles between 2 pieces of bread spread with salad cream Grin

HappyTimeTunnelDinosaur · 27/01/2021 15:41

Is mayonnaise with sausages weird? I like it with anything! In Spain they did a turkey and apple sandwich which I really liked, but is a maybe a bit weird.

Wholemeal wrap, spread with peanut butter, topped with grated carrot, cucumber in thin strips and drizzled with sweet chilli sauce. Wrap and eat. SO GOOD

I want it now.

Also butter on stuff. Slice of cheese? Butter it. Crisps? Dip them in butter. Butter just improves everything!

InsideOfEmptiness · 27/01/2021 16:15

Mashed banana, ham and cheese toastie.

Chicken Super Noodles piled on a slice of thickly buttered white bread.

Mashed potatoes, beans and smoked haddock (with the haddock poached and flaked so it can be mixed in with the beans and mash Blush Grin)

Mmm, your wrap sounds delicious. I'm going to give that a go sometime!

DH has Marmite and marmalade on toast...he swears it works! I can't have citrus so can't confirm and no DC are willing to try Grin

That actually sounds like a really good wrap!

Somehow reminds me of another favourite, perhaps not weird as such, though anyone I've forced coaxed to try it finds it a bit dry. Tuna, mixed with finely chopped red pepper, carrot, cucumber and spring onion and a good glug of soy sauce, stuffed into a wholewheat pita. Amazing.

sadpapercourtesan · 27/01/2021 16:24

Granny smith slices dipped in houmous

TonkinLenkicks · 27/01/2021 16:26

I have sweet chilli sauce with cottage pie or live and chips

Cosmos45 · 27/01/2021 16:27

Lime marmalade and cheese toastie

WellJuhnelle · 27/01/2021 16:27

Tuna mayo pasta salad with chunks of chopped green apple. Nobody I live with will try it!

BabyBee93 · 27/01/2021 16:43

@Poppins2016 @whiteonesugar ooooh those are some brave peanut butter combos. Will deffo have to try these for my lunch tomorrow

@InsideOfEmptiness horrified at the thought of noodles and bread BUT I will certainly be trying some haddock and beans on top of a baked potato

These are giving me some serious inspo ladies keep 'em coming!

@TonkinLenkicks mind blowing. What urged you to mix these two?!??

S1 has Marmite and smoked salmon on his croissants.

Has done since he was about 8.

I just do the salad cream on chips thing. Not sure that counts.

Biscoffaddict · 27/01/2021 16:54

Sausage and melted cheese.

Bowled over at the thought of marmite on a croissant let alone with salmon added to the mix. This is also going on my meal plan Grin

Not weird, well I don't think so anyway, but glorious;
Sandwich a minstrel between two orange doritos. Yum!

Chicken super noodles with cut up hotdog sausages, sprinkle cheese on top.

Breakfast muffin spread with garlic butter and sprinkled with grated cheese, put in oven. Makes far nicer garlic bread.

bearlyactive · 27/01/2021 17:04

The only one I can think of right now is cucumber dipped in ketchup, which seems fairly tame compared to some of these...!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 27/01/2021 17:05

One of DDs lunch favourites...
Leftover Chilli in a sandwich.

Iwantmychairback · 27/01/2021 17:16

Cornflakes and pickled beetroot on white bread with butter.

Baked beans mixed with grated cheese and crushed crisps.

Whiskeylover45 · 27/01/2021 17:21

Coronation chicken and cheese toasted wrap. It's so good! But everyone always pulls a face at it (without trying it may I add)

BitchPeas · 27/01/2021 17:24

Cous cous and gravy.

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 27/01/2021 17:28

It's a seasonal one but Christmas cake with strong cheddar. Delicious!

DragonPoop · 27/01/2021 17:30

Chicken super noodles, on a slice of white bread toast, then topped with grated cheese.

Pasta with tomato ketchup and a bit of butter mixed in.

Broccoli dipped in mayonnaise or salad cream

Celery with chocolate spread
