As a side with pasta dish.

Just that 🙂

*When do you have garlic bread if not with pasta? Thought that was the rule!

Spag Bol & garlic bread
Lasagna & garlic bread

Erm...run out of ideas now but don't think we ever just have garlic bread on its own!*

A whole one on its own for dinner when you're hungover if you're like me when I was in my 20s 😂

CorianderBee · 26/01/2021 17:47

Two to three

@80sMum

We used to have one between the two of us, but not with pasta though, that would be a bit of a carb overload for us!
Sound Ike the perfect amount of carb to me!
Baycob · 26/01/2021 17:48

3 adults

@cheeseandworcestershireontoast

Agree with *@PointBreakOrBadBoys2* - I always find that for 4 people with pasta one baguette is too little and two baguettes is too much. I have the same issue when we have beans. Everyone either ends up with too few beans or I open another tin and there’s an absolute deluge of beans on everyone’s plates.
Snap one in half while still frozen. Then put it back in the freezer and cook 1.5 baguettes.

2

Insertdeadcatsnamehere · 26/01/2021 17:52

1 each. Easily. As does everyone I know.

KOKOagainandagain · 26/01/2021 17:53

2 teens. They eat a lot. Pasta bake with extra cheese that should serve 4, accompanied by 5 sausages each plus half a baguette. One also has half a ton of mixed veg. They are both skinny. To the extent of extra high calorie protein shakes. That's my cheap option. Otherwise they polish off 2 large chicken breast each with accompaniments for dinner despite having protein at lunch and breakfast in quite large meals.

TheOneLeggedJockey · 26/01/2021 17:54

I only serve garlic bread at a BBQ - wouldn’t serve it with pasta.

But my ratio is one garlic bread for 4 people - but that’s because there’s so much other food as well.

Randomrebel · 26/01/2021 17:55

2, 3 or 4

ClaudiaWankleman · 26/01/2021 18:01

Garlic baguettes are not eaten in this home. They're always over done and tough (I've never been able to perfect the cooking time). I don't want cut gums trying to gnaw on a disappointing baguette.

One small garlic pizza/ flatbread does two of us. Maybe like a 7" diameter.

Very much enjoy ruining my palette on that though.

davidsSchitt · 26/01/2021 18:02

"We like to use sourdough bread which we toast, then scrub a garlic clove over the toasted surface and spread some good salted butter on it"

Salt? Fucking SALT? Will nobody think of the children? 😱

Figgyboa · 26/01/2021 18:03

2! We love garlic bread!

omg35 · 26/01/2021 18:03

Well 3, but I could annihilate it all by myself...

SwedishK · 26/01/2021 18:08

4, especially if it’s with food.

MonsterKidz · 26/01/2021 18:08

This is a struggle in my house. If I do one everyone feels short changed. 2 kids, 2 adults.

Last night I made two as I was feeling miserable and generous. I felt we all over indulged.

In all seriousness, what is the solution? Garlic bread slices maybe.

BarbaraofSeville · 26/01/2021 18:13

I have the same issue when we have beans. Everyone either ends up with too few beans or I open another tin and there’s an absolute deluge of beans on everyone’s plates

Or you could always save some of the beans for later. Someone might want them with a cooked breakfast or on toast or a baked potato for lunch. Or freeze them to put in chilli later.

Sendingasurprise · 26/01/2021 18:15

Àre people sharing between five meaning 'shop-bought' garlic bread...or a proper baguette sliced, garlic-cloved, buttered and popped in the oven at home?

If the shop-bought ones (shudder!), I would do one per three people. With pasta or chilli is fine, but needs plenty of green salad to
cut the richness. Never garlic bread with pizza. Like bread on bread (double shudder!).

Home-made garlic bread...(shudder-free!)....I'd make one baguette for every eight people. Or half for four if just using up stale bread. Ciabatta... would serve one per six people, as it's shorter but wider.

  1. DH is greedy.
Chanandlerbong01 · 26/01/2021 18:16

2 - but sometimes when it’s all gone dp will point out he hasn’t has any Blush

HeronLanyon · 26/01/2021 18:17

I never eat it with pasta (too busy stuffing huge amounts of pasta).
If the baguette is say 8-10 inches sometimes called a mini baguette split lengthways I’d definitely eat a whole one myself maybe with some salad. Never eat them sliced across (not enough butter surface to crust).

Misandrylovescompany · 26/01/2021 18:26

Glad to see we’ve also now ticked the ‘shop-bought’ snobbery box Grin

KirstenBlest · 26/01/2021 18:29

Sod the pasta dish, give me the garlic bread.

WaxOnFeckOff · 26/01/2021 18:29

I just buy the slices now, i think a slice in those is bigger than a slice from the baguette. We usually just have a slice each but adult DSs will have 2 depending on how many folk are eating and what's left in a packet. You get 9 slices and there are usually 3 or 4 of us for dinner. Usually with pasta but DSs will sometimes have it with soup for lunch depending on the bread situation.

SnugglySnerd · 26/01/2021 18:30

I'm fairly confident each of us could polish off one to ourselves Grin

Obviously we wouldn't do that though. 2 for 5 of us is usually about right.
