Simba, Emma, Eve ...? Which mattress?

Looking at all these adverts you see, all claiming to be the best.

Do you have one, do you recommend?

Anyone done the 100 nights then sent it back? How TF does that work? Is it hassle free?

Thanks Smile

We have an Emma and I'm in love with it

Mucky1 · 24/01/2021 22:02

I have a simba and love it! It's so comfy like a giant hug.

PlantPotPat · 24/01/2021 22:07

We have an Emma and it's... ok.

I didn't really want a new one. However. You know that old advert (silentnight?) with the hippo and the small bird, where the hippo rolls over and the bird sort of falls into the dip in the mattress that causes?! Well that was me and dp. I was always rolling into the middle of our old, squashy hugely expensive mattress. And DP was always moaning about how much he ached every morning. So in the January sale he bit the bullet and ordered the Emma.

I'm pleasantly surprised that for a sub £400 mattress it's comfy enough. It's definitely firmer than would be my preference and it's at least half as thick as our old one but he doesn't moan about aching any more and we stay on our respective sides of the bed. I'd read on here about a chemical smell and I have a very sensitive nose and honestly it was fine. Left it to breathe for the afternoon when we got it with all the windows open and it was fine. Worth a try op.

Ever stayed at a Premier Inn?

They sell their mattresses. That's on my list!

Savoretti · 24/01/2021 22:20

Just beware foam mattresses are really warm. I had an Otty, it was comfy but so sweaty I found it unbearable. Had no hassle returning it, they came and picked it up (in lockdown) and I’m now back to springs and natural fabrics which I find so much more pleasant and airy.

freeandfierce · 24/01/2021 22:28

I got an Emma pillow to replace my ten year old tempur one, it's rubbish. Gives me neck ache so I've returned to my slightly saggy trusted tempur. Emma told me to keep the pillow and gave a full refund. excellent service but product wasn't right for me. Planned on getting the mattress but won't bother now.

KatharinaRosalie · 24/01/2021 22:29

IKEA top of the range one, VATNESTROM. Cured my back ache too.

Minnie6078 · 24/01/2021 22:30

We bought a 'zonagel' mattress 3 months ago, best thing I ever did! Just a shame I have a 8 week old who wakes me up so I can't feel the full benefit!! Seriously comfy though

Turnedouttoes · 24/01/2021 22:33

I slept on the most incredible mattress in a hotel last summer. When we change our bed next I’ll be buying one. It was a Sleepeezee

tatutata · 24/01/2021 22:34

I got the posh eve hybrid with the mini springs and bells and whistles. £950 and I have to take painkillers to sleep, it's like sleeping on a plank of wood. Big fat no from me ,and of course I've not sent it back yet as I can't face the thought (too sleep deprived). If it helps I weigh 60kg, my husband weighs 80kg and he gets on much better with it than I do.

40somethingJBJ · 24/01/2021 23:24

I’ve had an Eve fir about 4 years now and I’m really happy with it. I have a chronic back condition and find it comfier than anything I’ve ever slept on.

EmilyInParis · 24/01/2021 23:32

Simba here, had it a week and already don't know how I have missed out on it for so long.

I would say it's more firm than anything else I've ever had, but, it moulds to you and I'm now not waking up aching in my back.

blobbyface · 24/01/2021 23:35

We've got a simba. Had it for nearly 3 years and love it. Don't remember a weird smell at the beginning.

Throughhistory · 24/01/2021 23:40

I'd go for a traditional (proper) mattress with pocket springs. Our last 3 have been top of the range Sealy. Wonderful.

SlipperySlope99 · 25/01/2021 07:03

We have a Hypnos mattress with a sprung divan base, have had it 3 years now and still the best bed we’ve ever slept in

captainprincess · 25/01/2021 07:56

@Fuckingfuckssake this sounds great! Do they just have the reconditioned ones on their website, or do you find them elsewhere? Thanks!

MrsPerfect12 · 25/01/2021 08:10

We have a simba and we like it. Don't find it firm or soft, just right.

Savoretti · 25/01/2021 08:33

@captainprincess some sell on eBay so worth a look there

Bloodyhamabeads · 25/01/2021 08:34

We had and Emma but it was too hot for me. It felt like there was an electric blanket on. We sent it back and got a Simba with a wool top- much better.

TodgerStrunk · 25/01/2021 08:38

The second hand charity furniture place near us has loads of Emma mattresses for sale- about £200-250 each. If the guarantee is so good - why? Or are they getting them direct from the manufacturer?

I had a tempur - but exh chose it and it was far too hard for me- I went with a Casper as its replacement- it's wonderful- firm but comfortable. I've had it for 3 years now. I am currently moving house, got rid of my old bed (will get new one once I'm in the new place) so sleeping on the mattress on the floor atm - it's still really comfortable.
Ostryga · 25/01/2021 08:53

I had an Emma and hated it. I just couldn’t ever get comfortable.

Got rid and got an IKEA Hovag (medium firm) instead and it’s miles better. Plus cheap as anything.

xXOXOx · 25/01/2021 08:56

I was looking for a mattress a few months ago and saw a couple people mention inofia, they said loads of hotel's use them. I ended up going for it as they are reasonably priced and im glad I did as it's so comfortable! My friend actually bought one yesterday because she tried mines. You can get from their website or Amazon and they also do the guarantee thing.

Fuckingfuckssake · 25/01/2021 09:51

@captainprincess I got my Otty from their eBay store, I went with them because they only re sell mattresses that have been slept on for less than 30 nights, with the Emma it's 100. I think Hypnos give all of theirs to The British Heart Foundation to sell on. I waited until there was a 20% off coupon with eBay so got a pretty good deal.

captainprincess · 25/01/2021 10:02

@Savoretti and @Fuckingfuckssake thank you! I will take a look Smile
