I was enjoying the last one too. I do wish MNHQ wouldn't be so quick to pull threads.

Chocolatewins · 24/01/2021 19:18

I love a country walk and stopping off at a nice village tea room.

Gobbeldegook · 24/01/2021 19:20

I'll repost what I put.

Bygone era, but another thing I enjoy about the culture is the deep relationship towns had with their traditional trades like textile works, steelworks and shipbuilding (very much in common with your Scottish neighbours Smile).
I love that they're still proud to this day and just wish it was still a thriving industry.

lightand · 24/01/2021 19:23

I didnt find out until recently[actually I watched an episode of Dads Army, and wondered why they seemed to be able to have as many fish and chips as they wanted during WW11 and rationing] that fish and chips were not rationed during WW11, because it was thought that to ration them, would have meant loss of British moral.

Chocolatewins · 24/01/2021 19:24

I missed the last thread!

I also love stately homes. When DC were tiny I would go to National Trust places a lot on weekdays, mainly to walk in the gardens and have a cuppa and loved the atmosphere of mainly retired folk who had time to chat.

There's a cup of tea theme to my posts!

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 24/01/2021 19:24

I love the regional variations in accent across a relatively small geographical distance.
Roast dinners
Our shared emotional investment in the survival of M&S Grin
The way our language is coded, but we all instinctively 'get' it.

DeusEx · 24/01/2021 19:25

Mushy peas

Tea is our national pacifier - the immediate response to all problems is to make tea!

Tea. I love my mug of tea. I love tea in tea rooms. I love afternoon tea. I love tea with friends.
