Confused

Me and DH are freaking out a bit. At about 10pm we heard the letterbox go while we were watching TV but didn't immediately check it. We've just got up to head to bed and it's a tiny little ziplock bag (like 50p sized tiny) with white lumpy powder in it Hmm

We're going to have to call 111 in the morning arent we? Really freaked and going to struggle to sleep now!

What the actual fuck Confused

@ShirleyPhallus

Oh god this thread is premium mumsnet. Lots of terrible advice, pearl clutching, sweeping accusations about all sorts of people. Excellent.
Grin just needs an "OP. Police. NOW."
UnityUnited · 24/01/2021 11:55

Middle-class parents can abuse and neglect their children. Of course. But are those parents likely to care enough to become Mumsnetters? Obviously, as with everything, there are exceptions to every rule but look at who these children usually target.

Weston14 · 24/01/2021 12:02

@Skipsurvey

dd went to university with someone who did cocaine and it was utterly shocking for her that he was - he has left now.
Your DD (and all the other posters clutching at pearls about drug use) are very sheltered. It is rife in every echelon of society. Not intimating that that is a good or bad thing, but please don't think it's just "rough" areas (especially with the price of good coke!) and ESPECIALLY please don't think your "naice middle class" kids can't get drawn into stuff like county lines because it absolutely does happen Confused . Drug education in this country still leaves a lot to be desired going off this thread...
HibernatingTill2030 · 24/01/2021 12:03

Groomers are experts at targeting the right people in the right way.
Looking back, loads of 14/15 year olds in my school had older boyfriends with cars and money. We all thought they were so cool and so grown up (the girls, that is). Could have easily been a grooming gang, who knows? These weren't all what people generally mean by "vulnerable" girls, either.

UntamedWisteria · 24/01/2021 12:10

Hope you won't attract vengeful members of a Mexican drug cartel OP?

Only joking, been watching Ozark on Netflix ...

MacDuffsMuff · 24/01/2021 12:10

@UnityUnited

MacDuff No. Broadly speaking the children they recruit have dysfunctional backgrounds, often the victims of abuse/neglect.
Broadly speaking the children they recruit have dysfunctional backgrounds, often the victims of abuse/neglect.

And middle-class children can't have dysfunctional backgrounds or are ever the victims of abuse? You clearly know nothing about county lines and it's dangerous to spread shit like this. Yes, vulnerable children are more likely to be recruited, but please don't assume that all middle-class children are living in loving, safe homes because the reality is, they're not.

MacDuffsMuff · 24/01/2021 12:13

But are those parents likely to care enough to become Mumsnetters?

OK, so now I know you're not serious ...

UntamedWisteria · 24/01/2021 12:13

@LightDrizzle

It’s the hypocrisy around middle class drug taking that really pisses me off. Lots of the households doing a few lines at the weekend will be fair trade buying, culturally engaged, educated people who decry uncontrolled capitalism and think of themselves as people who make conscious decisions for the planet and for the disadvantaged. Then they fund and perpetuate a grotesque, criminal chain built on exploitation, intimidation and violence that snakes back through so many hands to the country of origin, causing damage everywhere it touches. From the people whose houses are burgled and trashed to fund the addiction of the socioeconomically less insulated; the poor women who die when the condoms they’ve swallowed burst; to the communities caught in the violence of towns run by rival drug cartels with insane mortality rates for their sons and daughters, where torture, rape and mutilation are routine instruments of control. Just buy fucking Nescafé, drive a Hummer and keep pet Tigers or whatever. Oh but of course that is visible and visibly unacceptable, and so not you. You recycle and read the Guardian!
This ^ with bells on.
UnityUnited · 24/01/2021 12:15

I agree. They are experts. Middle-class children are their prizes because they operate under the radar. However the chances of a child with a happy life, relatively few worries about money and engaged parents, (for example a parent who spends time seeking advice on a parenting website) getting involved with these gangs is less likely than a vulnerable child. If people want to do drugs then fine but unless you grow your own be aware that those drugs have passed through many peoples hands before they reach yours and most of those people will be exploited. Weed farms are often worked in by people who arrived in the UK in the back of airless lorries and who sleep on the floor of the farm. It’s modern slavery and it’s not sanitised by the fact that the end user is a 30 year old estate agent. Or Mumsnetter.

UnityUnited · 24/01/2021 12:16

I think I know enough about county lines mac

TTCPLEASE · 24/01/2021 12:17

@ummwtf stick it in a brew if within 30 mins your fine its sugar if your lifting the couch one handed and hoovering with the other hand then it's something else 👀👀 🤣🤣🤣 I wouldn't worry just bin it and forget if its a mistake they won't do it twice! And they aren't going to knock on for it lol xx

VinylDetective · 24/01/2021 12:18

@UmmWTF

Its just been collected! DH double checked the letterbox and there was another teeny bag of it inside Shock Grin

It will now be disposed of by the police.

I'm glad we could entertain you this cold lockdown weekend Grin

But let it be known the police do indeed give a shit and will send a PCSO with an evidence bag if someone posts drugs through your door Grin

I can guess how it will be “disposed of”. It’ll go straight up someone’s nose, hence the giving a shit. If someone drove into your car and drove away you wouldn’t even be able to get a crime number.
Oblomov20 · 24/01/2021 12:28

This thread is classic MN. Pearl clutching. Grin

I think my friends are 50/50 on those that tried a couple of things at Uni, and those that never would.

People who are adamant they know no one are probably naieve. Bet you haven't actually asked them!

Frownette · 24/01/2021 12:31

Bet they wouldn't tell

EBearhug · 24/01/2021 12:32

It's been an educational thread. I had to look up diatomaceous earth. Haven't knowingly heard of it before (which seems unlikely, given some of its uses.)

Oblomov20 · 24/01/2021 12:37

Middle class children don't do drugs. GrinGrinGrin
You are so fxxking naieve.
Many of them have tried it, once at parties. Many do not, totally non interested.
Most of ds1's , very ordinary school down the road, friends are naice, many parents are incredibly well off. Famous parents a couple of them. MAny of these kids have tried something once.

Oblomov20 · 24/01/2021 12:38

Exactly Frownette.

Timmytoo · 24/01/2021 12:41

Put it back in there as they might come back when they realize it's gone and then they'd know it was you. The dealers won't hurt you or be bothered but the person who bought it will be as it's expensive and might harass you if they know it was in your box. Doubt police would be interested in a measly gram of what is probably coke or Kat and there's nothing they can do anyway as the person wasn't caught in the act of dealing it. Perhaps set a mouse trap in the box so whoever puts their fingers in there gets zapped and would scream then you will know who it was for 😂😂😂

UnityUnited · 24/01/2021 12:44

Oblomov Not sure if that’s meant for me but if so, nowhere did I say middle-class children don’t do drugs. In fact it’s middle-class users who I am really attacking here, especially the ones who purport to care about social issues but turn a blind eye to where their drugs come from.

tommika · 24/01/2021 12:45

@tolerable

contactless+5p forra bag..lol
Exempt from the 5p charge for unwrapped goods for human consumption

If the dealer is a small business they were also originally exempt from the charge for a period of time

oakleaffy · 24/01/2021 12:47

Middle and upper class children LOVE their drugs.
Look at Oxford!
Drugs of Class A type are thriving in pretty Cotswold villages.

It isn’t just sink estates.

Rural drug use is rife.. amongst middle /upper class parents too.
A manager of an inner city drugs service lives 25 miles away in a wealthy hunting area.. and she says it’s rife there.

I found some double strength pills “
UPS supposedly E but possibly PMA in a black silky bag on the pavement.

I handed them into police

oakleaffy · 24/01/2021 12:54

My goodness- are they charging for bags now?!
One Christmas I was given some medical cannabis cooked into two for my arthritis..(awaiting new knee)
It really helped.
Possibly psychological?

PricklesAndSpikes · 24/01/2021 12:54

You might want to read the thread... or at least the OP's replies!! Wink
UnityUnited · 24/01/2021 12:56

All types of people love drugs. The point is some people are oblivious to how their drugs are produced and distributed. It’s a vile ‘industry’.

oneglassandpuzzled · 24/01/2021 12:56

@1forAll74

I would just flush it down the toilet. If you tell the police about it,they may start asking you if you have any more in the house. It would depend on how they viewed some drugs being posted through the door though.
Don’t flush it down the loo.
