... that we could all watch please?
I'm out of ideas. We never watch tv as a family and it would be lovely to find something that everyone would enjoy. Not war or horror based but open till any other suggestions, old or new. Thanks!

My dd who is a little older, has been obsessed with all the Marvel films for a few years now. Things like Captain America, the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, etc

It's not my sort of thing, but I have watched one or two and there is certainly a fair degree of humour in them to keep the parents watching.

NCTDN · 23/01/2021 16:08

DS has watched every marvel film going, but def not dds type of thing.

A Dog's Purpose is a nice film. One that we can all watch together (5 year old up to 15 year old).

KyraGoose · 23/01/2021 16:39

Divergent

MsTSwift · 23/01/2021 16:40

The Blind Side
Oceans 8
Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop cafe
Knives Out

FindMeAHolidayPlz · 23/01/2021 16:41

Older movies which were a hit with my teen were Blues Brothers, Galaxy Quest, Some Like It Hot.
Hot Fuzz went down a storm but has a lot of gore.

FindMeAHolidayPlz · 23/01/2021 16:43

Now You See Me was fun.
At the other end of the seriousness spectrum Schindler’s List is captivating and enlightening for that age group.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 23/01/2021 16:44

Delicatessen (French comedy/horror)

Allispretty · 23/01/2021 16:46

What do they like? So many films to watch at that age really, I'd personally say if you haven't already go for a Netflix series. Stranger things would be great at that age.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 23/01/2021 16:48

Watched Attack the Block the other day - it was really good. Tough kids from London council estate fight off aliens. Funny and scary and quite sweet.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 23/01/2021 16:49

(Sorry, I see you said not horror; I don't think of Delicatessen as 'horror' although that's how it's labelled. It's cert 15 and is macabre rather than horrific. But mostly just funny!)

LaPoesieEstDansLaRue · 23/01/2021 16:52

Recently enjoyed with teen:

Lord of the Rings trilogy
Knives Out
Jojo Rabbit (set in war but not an actual war film like, say, Dunkirk)
Hunt for the Wilderpeople
About a boy
Galaxy Quest
Meet the Parents

Also loving the American Office & Parks and Recreation if you'd consider series

Robbybobtail · 23/01/2021 16:52

I would go retro if they haven’t already seen them: The Goonies, Tron, the Breakfast Club etc. Oh and Weird Science has to be watched when you’re a teenager! My dc’s 12 and 15 thought it was hilarious! In fact just any Kevin smith film.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/01/2021 16:52

Peanut Butter Falcon on Netflix

Juno

Clueless

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/01/2021 16:53

And yes to Attack the Block - it's really good.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/01/2021 16:53

Also yes to The Goonies, The Breakfast Club
The Lost Boys
The Wedding Singer
Gremlins

Robbybobtail · 23/01/2021 16:54

Another brilliant one if you can get hold of it is Adventures in Babysitting with Elizabeth Shue. It’s so funny and has a great soundtrack.

Robbybobtail · 23/01/2021 16:55

The Lost Boys! Yes! We watched that a few weeks ago and I’d forgotten how brilliant it is - and how gorgeous Jason Patric was!
