... that we could all watch please?
I'm out of ideas. We never watch tv as a family and it would be lovely to find something that everyone would enjoy. Not war or horror based but open till any other suggestions, old or new. Thanks!

Truman Show, very thought provoking and some funny moments

Cattitudes · 23/01/2021 17:04

Favourites here are Erin Brocovich and Shawshank Redemption both have the odd scene you might want the remote handy for but beyond those specific scenes they are both thought provoking films which my teens like.

LaPoesieEstDansLaRue · 23/01/2021 17:38

Oh yes, definitely The Truman Show

Some really fantastic recommendations on here!
What about the Bourne Identity films?

MrsSchadenfreude · 23/01/2021 18:10

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
The Breakfast Club
Big.

mamaduckbone · 23/01/2021 18:10

Peanut Butter Falcon on Netflix - one of the loveliest films I've watched in a long time.

AnnPerkins · 23/01/2021 18:11

We’ve been watching a load of 80s and 90s movies lately:
Brewsters Millions
Ferris Buellers Day Off
Men in Black
Truman Show
Forrest Gump
Beverly Hills Cop
Trading Places

I’m fine with the swearing, not too keen on too icy sex or violence.

Two that didn’t go down well: Weird Science and Bill and Ted.

We also loved Jojo Rabbit and Hunt for the Wilderpeople.

mamaduckbone · 23/01/2021 18:12

Ready Player one
Avatar
Lion
The Martian

snowspider · 23/01/2021 18:17

True Grit
Stand by Me

CoodleMoodle · 23/01/2021 18:19

Rat Race. It's really really stupid but hilarious at the same time, and the cast is brilliant. One of my favourites!

Annasgirl · 23/01/2021 18:20

Yes to The Blind Side - DS and DD loved it
Wonder - both of mine adore it
Abominable - surprisingly good
If you can cope with a series, we are (DC aged 16 and 14 and I) watching The Queen’s Gambit

rc22 · 23/01/2021 18:21

I would second Enola Holmes and Jojo Rabbit.

rc22 · 23/01/2021 18:22

Seeing people recommend 80s films also made me think Crocodile Dundee could also be a good choice.

Randomrebel · 23/01/2021 19:03

Yes Queens Gambit is very good or Dash and Lily wasn’t bad or karate kid films.

snowspider · 23/01/2021 19:04

Bladerunner

Hels20 · 23/01/2021 19:05

Another vote for Instant Family. Funny but thought provoking (and I have adopted...)

Rina66 · 23/01/2021 19:08

The Prestige
