Can any of you work it out?

Question 1 can't be answered. It can't be both itself and itself + x.

MindGrapes · 22/01/2021 22:52

Unless it's zero, I suppose....

JaimieLeeCurtains · 22/01/2021 22:54

It's a zero sum quiz

Boopear · 22/01/2021 22:54

Unless the answer to question 1 is zero (haven't looked at the others in detail but that would work as an answer to 1. )

Boopear · 22/01/2021 22:57

Yes - all false and zeros

LochJessMonster · 22/01/2021 23:00

How can Q4 be zero if Q1 is also zero?

fairlygoodmother · 22/01/2021 23:03

But question 4 can’t be 0...?

Witchend · 22/01/2021 23:03

@Boopear
What about question 4?
"How many answers are the same as this one, including this one?" Can't be zero. Or am I missing something.

Bellyflab · 22/01/2021 23:05

It's driving me crazy. DH thinks he has got it

Bellyflab · 22/01/2021 23:06

But he's not sharing. Bloody competitive

Boswell

drspouse · 22/01/2021 23:12

8 and 1 have to be zero.

CrumbsThatsQuick · 22/01/2021 23:13

Question 10 makes it all not work

Herdwick · 22/01/2021 23:14

@Bytheriogrande

Boswell
Correct! Grin
drspouse · 22/01/2021 23:15

Question 4 is the problem I think. Q10 can also be zero.

bringingonbackthegoodtimes · 22/01/2021 23:16

@Bytheriogrande aaaaagggghhhhhhhh bloody Boswell

pursuedbyablackdog · 22/01/2021 23:18

Zero

WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 22/01/2021 23:20

You can't answer question 8 until you know the answer to question 8.

Which I guess is why the answers are false and 0. (Not that I would have worked that out)

Herdwick · 22/01/2021 23:22

Question 4 isn't a problem.

All of the answers to the other questions are 0/false.

Question 4 first asks you how many other questions have the answer zero/false. The answer is all of them, instantly making the answer to question 4 different to all the others and therefore the only question which has 0 other matching answers. So the answer to 4 is still 0.

I think

Boopear · 22/01/2021 23:23

Have rethought Blush is no 4 =1 and no 6 = -1. Average still 0 as is sum. 0 divided by -1 is -1. Still not sure about no 10 but has to be 0!

Bytheriogrande · 22/01/2021 23:23

You can if the answer to question 1 is zero. Either way I stick by Boswell
Boopear · 22/01/2021 23:25

8 as -1 not 6! Aargh!

CoffeeRequiredNow · 22/01/2021 23:33

Is there an answer to this or is it something you spend hours on only to find out it's not possible?

Bellyflab · 22/01/2021 23:35

@Bytheriogrande

Boswell

What's Boswell?

Witchend · 22/01/2021 23:37

@Herdwick

I think

@Herdwick But question 4 says how many have the same answer as this one, including this one, so the smallest answer has to be one.

Also if they're assuming for question eight that 0/0=0 that's wrong. 0 divided by 0 is undefined as you cannot mathematically divide by 0.

You can say 0/x approaches one as x approaches 0, but actually 0/0 is undefined.
