Here we are again, gaining sequels even more rapidly than the Fast and the Furious...

Hello @DWPmisery1972
Welcome. Funnily enough I spotted one of those ads in the paper a little while ago & felt the same.

"Go out but only if it is absolutely necessary or people might die."
Vs
"Get 150 minutes of exercise a week, for example by running, walking or cycling, in order to maintain a healthy body & mind".

We can't bloody win. Right, I really am going out now to spread my non-covidy self (latest test = negative) around the neighbourhood. The only risk I pose is to my own kids who might die of shame because I am wearing a bobble hat they dislike.

DWPmisery1972 · 23/01/2021 16:03

Yes I also received a negative test yesterday (weekly testing as work in healthcare) but we’re all still dangerous murderers... go figure. Enjoy your walk around the neighbourhood! Don’t cough or the covid marshals will jump you :-D

@Reedwarbler the only problem with the collapse of the Tory vote is the lack of an alternative. Labour would have locked us up harder and even more 'for our own good'. I hope there's a viable alternative to either by the next election, because I'm really noticing how politically homeless I am. If any of the ADs run then you would get my vote!

Iheartmysmart · 23/01/2021 16:47

I went out earlier to pick DS up from work. It was sunny so I had my roof down and music on so probably not in the spirit of an essential journey. Toyah’s I Want to be Free came on my playlist so I turned it up and had my own personal in-car protest.

Reedwarbler · 23/01/2021 17:01

@starfish88 yes, I have been politically homeless for a while now. It really is time for some bright young things to start a new party, in fact, I would say the perfect time. I live in hope anyway.
On the upside, I have just been for a chilly but pleasant walk with the dog and noticed how we have a bit more daylight now. A bottle of sauvignon blanc, a fire and netflix tonight, followed by an overnight fall of snow, I hope. Life's little pleasures, but there's not much else at the moment.

Jourdain11 · 23/01/2021 17:16

Hey hey, sorry I lost you all for a bit.
How's it all going? I hear we've got a DEADLY NEW VARIANT and schools may not be back till SEPTEMBER. Daily Mail caps.

My end:

Good news! The chemo has done its job and I am in remission 🥳🥳🥳 I am not infertile as a result of the chemo (seriously, I feel like this is wasted on me, having zero intention of producing more offspring) and my hair is even growing back a better colour (small things...).

More good news: DH is back in school with the, ahem, keyworkers and vulnerable and he is much less grumpy as a result.

Less good news: I'm pissed off and fed up not being able to do anything. I want some new clothes! I want to go to the cinema or for a day out! DD1 is worse than ever and we're considering whether she might be better out of school... but I strongly suspect she would be worse. DH took DD2 and DS to chat to a school friend who is isolating today (and I mean, they were on the pavement and kid was at the raised ground floor window of their home and they got cautioned by the police. DD2 has already told granny and grandad a highly elaborated version of this event on the telephone...

RockaLock · 23/01/2021 17:19

Jourdain, that's such great news, I'm so pleased for you!

DrRamsesEmerson · 23/01/2021 17:20

@Jourdain, such great news - only good news all week!

Pleasedontdothat · 23/01/2021 17:25

@Jourdain11 that’s fantastic news

But wtf were the police doing cautioning your dh and dc ???

Jourdain11 · 23/01/2021 17:27

Thank you. We were pretty damn overjoyed Smile Just hoping to be able to celebrate properly at some point!

Jourdain11 · 23/01/2021 17:29

Unnecessary loitering apparently. It was not a necessary reason to be out. Hmm Never mind the fact it probably made the poor kid's day. DD2 piped up that if they needed to arrest someone "they could try the XXX (local shopping centre) because there are usually some boys smoking naughty things outside". No words, lol.

2020BogOff · 23/01/2021 17:31

Good news Jourdain11

Politically I am stuffed as conservatives have been rubbish but Labour would have had us locked in our homes even more so no way would I vote for them either at the moment.

Jourdain11 · 23/01/2021 17:36

Lib Dems? Confused

Jourdain11 · 23/01/2021 17:37

Bloody fantastic news @Jourdain11 I am insanely happy for you!

MercyBooth · 23/01/2021 17:43

The ASA are also assessing complaints about adverts involving supermarket trolleys and takeaway coffees.

MercyBooth · 23/01/2021 17:45

@Jourdain that is fabulous news. Flowers Wine Smile

amicissimma · 23/01/2021 17:55

According the the ONS, approaching a year after this all started 1 in 8 people in the UK have had Covid. A bit of variation between regions of course.

Which means that out of every 8 people, 7 haven't had it at all!

When I pointed this out to DH he accused me of being a Covid-denier. I don't think so. (He's usually reasonably OK on the D/AD continuum.)

LivinLaVidaLoki · 23/01/2021 17:56

@Jourdain11 συγχαρητήρια!!! ώπα!!! That's amazing. Sorry for the random greek but congrats doesn't seem to cut it...shouting "synchari̱tí̱ria!! Opa" feels so much better!!!

CruCru · 23/01/2021 17:58

Ah, what good news Jourdain!

Jourdain - that is such good news! Big hugs!
