What do you do when listening to podcasts?

Random musing for a Saturday evening but podcasts - how/ when do you listen to them ?

I have several I'd like to hear but I can't quite fathom how it works - do I sit on the sofa and listen to them instead of watching tv? That feels weird to me because do I just sit still staring into space?

In bed ? In the bath ?

While I'm out walking or running, gardening, housework, driving.

LegendDairy · 16/01/2021 21:25

I listen to them when I'm doing something like cleaning, gardening or cooking.

ShortSilentNight · 16/01/2021 21:26

When walking or cooking.

I listen to them when running, cooking or driving.
I've never found a podcast so all consuming that it's enough for my full attention.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 16/01/2021 21:27

Driving, shopping or cooking. Was listening to one whilst I was waiting for an appointment earlier on in the week.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 16/01/2021 21:29

If my eyes are really tired when I go to bed I might listen to one then too.

Forgot to say I usually listen to one when I run. For some reason completely uncoordinated I can't run to music.

RustyBear · 16/01/2021 21:32

Gardening, cleaning, or playing certain things on my iPad - jigsaws, some card games or those games where you have to find objects. As I usually play audio books at night to fall asleep to, if I try to play one during the day without doing something else, I usually doze off!

drspouse · 16/01/2021 21:33

Mainly walking or doing housework.

AuntyPasta · 16/01/2021 21:34

Cook, iron, clean, walk the dog, play Candy Crush type games, groom the dog, eat lunch, exercise, paint my nails, soak in a bath ...

hermionieweasley · 16/01/2021 21:34

Walking, driving, cooking, showering, cleaning. Like the times when you'd normally pop the radio on, op.

Which podcast are you going to start with?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 16/01/2021 21:34

Driving
Walking
Doing the dishes
Working
Playing games on my phone
Cross stitching
Bathing
Housework

Giraffey1 · 16/01/2021 21:35

Dog walking. Housework. Crafting. Driving.

doodleygirl · 16/01/2021 21:35

Walking the dog, walking, running, housework, cooking

Whattheduck · 16/01/2021 21:38

Cooking or when I go to bed

Chalkcheese · 16/01/2021 21:39

On the commute. Whilst doing housework, especially the dishes and folding laundry. Whilst I brush, floss, rinse and do my skin care of an evening. While I brush, dry and style my hair on hair washing nights. I would in the bath, but that's when I watch Netflix

Shamefulcorners · 16/01/2021 21:45

Cleaning!

Velvian · 16/01/2021 21:51

Mainly working, although I do have to go back a bit sometimes if I've been concentrating. Also walking, cooking, cleaning, driving.

Itstheprinciple · 16/01/2021 22:20

Normally fall asleep as I put one on in bed!

NeedCoffeeToSurvive · 16/01/2021 22:23

I listen to them on Spotify usually when I'm sorting laundry, washing dishes, cooking dinner, doing my nails, knifing... Etc.

Jemenfouscompletement · 16/01/2021 22:27

When I run, cycle and walk so at least 20 hours of podcasts to get through a week

DuzzyFuck · 16/01/2021 22:28

Driving, walking on my own, running, doing housework, on flights/buses/trains when travel was a thing. DP and I usually put one on at bedtime and hear 10 minutes of it before we fall asleep, or if one of wakes up and can't get get back to sleep. Sometimes if I've got something easy but monotonous to do at work I'll put one on. I can't just sit and listen to one though, I get distracted and start on Mumsnet or social media.

BertieBotts · 16/01/2021 22:29

I listen to them when cleaning or cooking, I can't focus on them otherwise. It gives me an incentive to get stuff done :o

Attictroll · 16/01/2021 22:31

I used to listen on commute. More recently queuing for supermarket- occasionally whilst doing a mundane work task but my listening has dropped dramatically since March whilst ds 8 is obsessed by kids ones and listens in bath or doing lego 😁

Veryverycalmnow · 16/01/2021 22:34

Yeah, commuting or walking. Wouldn't put one on instead of telly x

ThorFull · 16/01/2021 22:36

Cleaning.

Must have headphones so I can hear over the Hoover.
