SO ANGRY WITH TESCO!

Dazzband · 16/01/2021 10:27

I had a delivery slot booked last night. Waited and waited, it didn't turn up. I called Tesco and they said that the driver attempted delivery and there was no answer -thats a lie!
So they have refunded me.
I had no call or message from the driver.
So after complaining, I'll get a £5 goodwill gesture. I'm absolutely fuming!

Sounds like a mix up

Dazzband · 16/01/2021 11:00

I'm not sure about that, the delivery driver said they attempted delivery and there was no answer. He didn't call me, therefore I can only assume they lied because they couldn't be bothered.

Maybe he got lost and got the wrong address
Maybe he was just running late so skipped your delivery so he could finish on time
We will never know

Hobnobswantshernameback · 16/01/2021 11:06

We had that with Tesco years ago
They claimed they had knocked
There were six of us here the whole time
They definitely hadn't
They were an utter shitshow to deal with
Have never used them again

NotExactlyMrsCurrentAffairs · 16/01/2021 11:07

Do you or any neighbour's facing your property have a ring doorbell?

FabulouslyFab · 16/01/2021 11:09

My DIL used to get this, they lived up a country Lane and had barky dogs so would never have not heard them. I guess he just couldn’t be bothered.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 16/01/2021 11:09

I find delivery people knock quietly so as not to disturb you. Even though I have a laminated sign next to my working doorbell that says please ring the bell.

Roselilly36 · 16/01/2021 11:10

How annoying, I would be angry too. £5 is pathetic. You want your shopping getting a slot isn’t easy.

Whatwouldscullydo · 16/01/2021 11:11

Id be pissed too.

I'd forgive a mistake or mix up. On the basis they were honest about it.

Attempted delivery puts the blame on you for not being in.

Id not be happy with being lied to, blamed and given a lousy fiver to shut me up.

Id start giving my money to someone else now

Mcmole · 16/01/2021 11:13

I would also be really angry about that. I'm annoyed enough with asda who didn't substitute my bread last week - surely there was a loaf of bread somewhere in the store that would have done?! Had to pay a fortune with deliveroo to get some from the Co-op instead.

PainterInPeril · 16/01/2021 11:14

Go to the newspapers about it, I bet Tesco would do a lot better than £5 then!!Grin Practice your fuming face....Angry

Catty1720 · 16/01/2021 11:16

If they say he called you they will have it logged each driver is sent out with a work phone and it works as a tracker as well.

MotherOfSuburbia · 16/01/2021 11:23

My favourite Tesco delivery was when the man got properly angry with me as he had come almost an hour early and I hadn't turned up until 10 minutes before my delivery slot.

LastTrainEast · 16/01/2021 11:23

I've seen from my window courier vans turn up with an expected parcel and then wander around lost and confused looking for the right place. I've had to run after them before and take it before they went away. I don't even know how that is possible when GPS takes you to the right place, but it happens.

So I doubt the Tesco driver was lying. More likely knocked on the wrong door in the wrong street. They should have treated it like the disaster it is though.

There's a space on the order for delivery instructions so might be worth putting "house with green door" for next time.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 16/01/2021 11:24

That's very annoying!

I'd call again on Monday & speak to someone else. Hopefully they'll find another delivery slot for you!

I have to say though, TESCO have been brilliant for me. I've had a weekly delivery for a couple of years now. You get the odd mistake and odd weird replacement or picking error (but you don't have to accept the item), but pretty insignificant really and the odd lentil delivering, but they're mostly brilliant.

Hope they can find you another slot.

thecountdownfinal · 16/01/2021 11:27

I've had this twice from Asda. To be fair, once it was an order I'd secured with two items then forgot about so the driver probably thought they can't be paying for delivery and minimum basket fee for two small items. The other time was actually an order of food we needed though. Both times it said 'delivered' and I had to call for a refund and £5 voucher.

I still use Asda though because I think they are the cheapest who also do online shopping and they do bags.

It could be a big worry if a vulnerable person was expecting the shopping though.

I've had Tesco deliveries too and they were fine, but I find the products a bit more expensive.

I've also used the Amazon same day delivery thing and whilst it's handy for same day, both the delivery and products are really expensive and I hate that they input your date of birth into the little handheld device thing after checking your ID. Unnecessary and freaks me out.

MumOfPsuedoAdult · 16/01/2021 11:32

I would be demanding they find a slot for you today.

Fuckingcrustybread · 16/01/2021 11:33

I don't even know how that is possible when GPS takes you to the right place, but it happens
Not true for my address, GPS takes all delivery drivers to a house 800 yards away on the other side of the road. I've had many heated discussions with different delivery drivers about the location of my house. They usually prefer to believe their Satnav and argue that I'm not at home, idiots.

Onthelowdown · 16/01/2021 11:33

I had a similar incident, different supermarket (Sainsbury’s) but apparently the driver had problems with his van and nobody bothered to let me know, I woke up to a refund notification, no apology etc.

I’d waited up until midnight, as lines were closed I couldn’t ring to be told about the issue, and was a bit stuck as didn’t have what I needed, so was very very annoyed.

I had an order from Iceland when there were no slots at all available elsewhere and suffice to say I am now back to being appreciative of Sainsbury’s.

Iknowwhatudidlastsummer · 16/01/2021 11:41

Complain!

Some people use delivery for more than a little convenience, it's not acceptable.

rwalker · 16/01/2021 11:42

The order will of been picked and on the van so it does sound like you missed the knock.
Motivation is VERY low with supermarket staff at the moment due to the pressure of work and the amount of shit they are getting off the gernral public

Unescorted · 16/01/2021 11:43

Our address is one character different in the post code to an address 3 miles up the road. We have given up on food deliveries. For parcels we have swapped numbers with our address twin - we text each other when they are misdelivered. To be fair most couriers, post office and takeaways know the problem so even if the wrong address is on the delivery they recognise the names.

vanillandhoney · 16/01/2021 11:44

@MumOfPsuedoAdult

I would be demanding they find a slot for you today.
And how do you think that will work in reality?
TodgerStrunk · 16/01/2021 11:47

I had this once.
No phone call, no knock.
They didn't know I had a camera so could prove the "you didn't answer the bell" was bollocks. The driver was already off shift when I called half an hour after the slot finished so they couldn't ask him Hmm They found me a slot first thing the next day, filled the order and let me edit it and check it out.

I've used them weekly (and twice weekly at times before covid) for 10 years or so and its only happened once.

JazzyGeoff · 16/01/2021 11:47

Was it an evening slot?

I avoid this now, as I've had them 'miss' more than once (Ocado). They just say problem with delivery, but I just think the drivers fall behind and then run out of hours and want to get home
