what would your dream career be?

If you had to be really specific, what would your dream career be?

I have a fantasy of sitting in my plant room in my big glass house overlooking the beach on my laptop working while I help people to redesign their lives to get the perfect balance between lifestyle, finances, family, career etc. I couldn't think of anything more rewarding than making people feel so excited because they feel their dream life is a reality. I would have no idea how to go about this myself. Any pointers?

I would really right now love to be an Animal Behaviourist for a rescue centre except my own home would end up resembling an animal sanctuary!!

Shmithecat2 · 14/01/2021 17:14

Bed and breakfast proprietor.

For some strange reason, a window dresser for a swanky shop. I’m not remotely creative enough though Grin

@Finfintytint I volunteered for a charity shop and redid their window display and we got so many more customers. It was so much fun!

I'd like to design and make high end jewellery.

NotCornflakes · 14/01/2021 17:22

I'd love to be a literary translator. I'm not remotely qualified but I think it would be a very interesting and creative job!

I think I overdosed on the Mannequin film in the eighties. Grin

TheWashingMachine · 14/01/2021 17:25

I would love to be a florist and also an auctioneer at Christie's or Sotheby's

SimonJT · 14/01/2021 17:26

I had mine (rugby player), but I had to drop to a lower league as the pay is awful.

So I would like either the pay to be better or to be rich enough not to really need an income.

TheWashingMachine · 14/01/2021 17:27

I would also love to be an amazing joiner for a brief period of my life and be competent enough to make myself a devol style kitchen.

speakout · 14/01/2021 17:27

I love what I do.

Working in a creative field, from home, self employed, well paid.
Lots of time for yoga, forest walks, tea breaks.
Can't imagine doing anything else.

GypsyLee · 14/01/2021 17:35

It's not really what others would consider a career as unlikely to make huge amounts, but you never know.

I read tarot, palms, tea leaves, herbal remedies, ancestral healing and counsel. I'm a gypsiologist and activist.
Through the cards I can help with relationships, business and work issues.

FitYeDaeinYeMadRadge · 14/01/2021 17:41

Shark conservation or an international cheese taster.

umpteennamechanges · 14/01/2021 17:46

I'm in mine now.

I help other women figure out what they want to do with their life and then make it a reality.

I get all kinds of jobs coming up. Most tend to go towards having different income streams (like a portfolio career).

Some examples:

  • Ethical bee keeper and part time marketing consultant
  • Swim school, mediator and magistrate
  • Sales coach, coach for aspiring music artists and part time bid manager
  • Hypnotherapist
  • Antique dealer, crafter and part time marketing consultant for small, quirky, women led businesses
  • Potter
NoGoodPunsLeft · 14/01/2021 17:48

Working in a zoo, preferably with primates or big cats. If we win the lottery I'm packing my job in & going to twycross

Do you have a website @GypsyLee?

Interested in ancestral healing at some point...

@umpteennamechanges thats awesome and sounds like my dream job! what sort of qualifications or experience did you need? Any tips?

@GypsyLee, are your studies more traditional or of modern day? Are there major differences in the culture nowadays or are there still elements of the old traditions which must be adhered to?

Must be fascinating to research, years back I remember seeing a traditional painted van pulled by a gorgeous Vanner, I often wonder what happened to the older generation who preferred the simpler life.

I find the some of the programmes on telly a bit sneery, perhaps the same with all walks of life, they concentrate on the individuals who make ‘good/car crash viewing.

Happytentoes · 14/01/2021 18:44

I would like to develop properties for homeless people. If I ever win Euromillions, that would be my goal. To repurpose some beautiful buildings and make them available to those who need them.
Course buying a ticket would help.

DuesToTheDirt · 14/01/2021 18:46

Explorer. In reality I have a pretty dull job.

TaleOfTheContinents · 14/01/2021 18:56
