@Frownette My mum, Aunty and uncle have all been caring for my grandma throughout this. She is far too frail to get by on her own, so they work in shifts so she always has some company, her food made for her (or she wouldn’t eat) and is ready for bed safely by the time they leave. If they weren’t doing it, a paid cater would need to and that’s far more of a risk to grandma in Covid terms, IMO. Caring is allowed!
Having an emotional rollercoaster of a day here - woke up feeling utterly flat then made the mistake of reading the Guardian which only made it worse, got hugely stressed out taking the car to the garage and ended up crying. However, we then got the bikes out and pedalled to the shop in the next village because we’d run out of a few things, and while we were there we got a takeaway coffee and cake from the butchers (they have diversified!) and the fresh air and exercise has helped. The coffee had caffeine as well as they couldn’t do decaf, so that’s also had an effect 🙃 So feeling a lot better now. I’m also very pleased to realise that I forgot something we needed, which would normally be a complete pain but in fact means I can go again tomorrow 👍 I may even get another coffee while I’m there. And I’ve spoken to mum, who had read not only the depressing article but a lot of others too, and so was able to put some perspective onto it.
So we are having a lazy homeschooling day, we’re going to make some asteroid cakes (rock buns!) in a minute which will be good maths practice, and we’ve done some reading. And that’s about all we’re planning to do, tbh. I’m tired and so is DS, and we can’t be full on with it every day. DS enjoyed his little trip to the shops so much, it was quite touching - I will take him again tomorrow.
