I am currently on mat leave with a 2mo and wild 2.5 yo. I am really struggling. I think I need something to look forward to every day so wondered what your daily pleasure is? Need some inspiration!

Tea made in two cup pot, my favourite pot and a little milk jug

tortiecat · 08/01/2021 04:33

Great thread @pineapplejuice22! Following with interest.

I would say showering daily with a lovely luxury shower gel, currently using some nice stuff my family bought me for Christmas

Ain't saying

MrsGatsby99 · 08/01/2021 05:23

Lovely thread.
Decent coffee (as a latte with syrup a once a week).
10 minutes meditation with Headspace app.
Walking and really observing environment.
Spending time with pets.
Waking up early and reading MN!!

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 08/01/2021 05:51

It used to be a proper coffee and toast in the morning before anyone else got up, then another coffee around about 12 while I was on a "break" (in my job you don't technically get a break, so this didn't happen every day). The weekend was even better because I wouldake myself one of my favourite breakfasts in the morning. I've not been able to do that for months because pregnant and really ill.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 08/01/2021 05:53

Oh and not everyday but going for a run at the beach with the dog. Harder work on the beach, but I like it.

ShaunaTheSheep · 08/01/2021 05:57

Instead of an early start and long commute, I take a massive mug of tea back to bed with my iPad.
In the evening, an hour on a sewing project has replaced my commute.
Candle and radio on in my home office.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 08/01/2021 06:00

Oh and at the weekend I out double cream in my coffee. Can not wait to be able to drink a coffee again!

LadyB49 · 08/01/2021 06:02

Every one in bed and a big bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes or frosties with icy cold milk.

OldOrMaybeNotThatOld · 08/01/2021 06:13

This thread has made me realise that I honestly need to slow down and enjoy the smaller things in life. All these things are so simple and I pretty much do most of them everyday yet I dont think of them like you guys do.... How sad for me

Sipperskipper · 08/01/2021 06:28

Congratulations on your new little baby. In a similar boat here with baby DD (4months) and DD1 (3.5y).

For me its a decent coffee in bed before they get up, and a browse on mumsnet etc.

Watching eastenders.

MrsGatsby99 · 08/01/2021 06:38

Using my light box (not every day but should be) I don't think I actually suffer from SAD properly but it's a good mood boost and makes me feel awake - it has really come in handy during wfh. Forgot to add that in previous post.

cloudcett · 08/01/2021 06:50

@britnay

A quiet coffee all by myself
This for me too. My favourite part of the day by far
Bluesheep8 · 08/01/2021 07:08

Having a long bubble bath and reading. Followed by using my jade face roller with my serum and facial oil.

StarlightLady · 08/01/2021 07:51

It takes batteries and gets me ready for the day ahead Wink.

FippertyGibbett · 08/01/2021 07:54

When mine were little I went out every day that DH was at work.
Sometimes it was to a park, others to the supermarket, I just made sure that I went out every day.

AriesTheRam · 08/01/2021 08:04

20 mins on mn before taking ds to school.

Who knew that an electric toothbrush could bring so much pleasure?
MolotovMocktail · 08/01/2021 11:00

A latte from my nespresso machine.
Taking a few mins to do a proper skincare routine morning and evening.
Walking the dog every night in the dark.

This is my little routine of things I look forward to daily, but not sure I managed any of them when DS was a baby.

nitgel · 08/01/2021 11:02

Badedas bath

RecipeStealingBitch · 08/01/2021 11:04

I love Animal Crossing on our Switch - I do half an hour or so on an evening while DH reads his book

HopeYourHighHorseBucks · 08/01/2021 11:08

Good old hot bath. I take my headphones in while DP does bedtime. Can be in there an hour and feel relaxed as anything, coming out to a quiet house and sleeping babies is a bonus.

It gives me motivation to run round like a maniac before bathing making sure kitchens tidy etc.

Hi5 to the woman beard trimmer. Great start to the day, face as smooth as a babies bum.
