I am currently on mat leave with a 2mo and wild 2.5 yo. I am really struggling. I think I need something to look forward to every day so wondered what your daily pleasure is? Need some inspiration!

Cup of tea in bed - 10 mins before everyone else is up, bliss.

As soon as my dh comes home I'm off out with the dog for an hour whilst he has his shower and plays with the kids.

When my 3 year old falls asleep at bedtime, getting a hot bubble bath and choosing a wax melt to burn afterwards.

Every morning I get up 15 mins earlier than the kids. I do a 10 minute Pilates stretch from YouTube, and then have a coffee from my cafetière in my favourite mug. Any other time of the day I just have instant, in whichever mug comes to hand, but that first one I take a wee bit more time for and it sets me up for the day. It’s a very simple and inexpensive pleasure, but makes a big difference to me.
Another one I do is to light a candle when I start cleaning, so by the time I’m finished I can sit down in a beautiful looking and smelling room. I really wasn’t much of a candle person before I discovered this tip, but it makes me feel like I’ve got things more together for some reason!

7am exercise followed by a coffee before my DS wakes up.

Then 8pm when he is in bed a candle, chocolate and tv - I do nothing then!!

A long bath listening to an audiobook. Freshly ground coffee at 11ish. Reading a book in bed at night.

If you slide, steer into the slide, not against it. And don’t stamp on the brake as tempting and natural as it feels, let the car come to a natural stop.

The first cup of tea of the day. I only have sugar in my first cup, and I get excited just thinking about it. I do 10:14 intermittent fasting so I have to wait until 10am for it which makes it even more amazing!!!! ☕️ 😍

Waking up in the middle of the night to get an hour of mumsnet in peace (hopefully)

White wine (weak).

In my late teens I tried every drug there was, just once, and white wine beat them all, even heroin.

I'm now in my late 40s and after cooking for my family, clearing up and getting the DCs (and DH) to bed, sitting down with a bottle of wine and YouTube/Mumsnet/Instagram etc is an unequalled Nirvana for me.

My walk at lunchtime. 15 minutes of meditation before I go to bed.

Proper coffee ☕

And if there is any sunshine at all I put my coat and scarf on, wrap a massive blanket around me and drink it on a sunlounger on my patio. I don't care how cold it is, I want a bit of Vitamin D and I like to be outside.

The dog thinks I'm insane and declines to join me.

I bought a sudoku a day puzzle book and I'm enjoying that. Fun and I hope it will keep my brain from turning into mush.

Latte in the morning and back into bed for 10 mins to drink it and watch some TV.
In the evening, playing animal crossing. Bought it for DS and I got into it.

A book in the bath every evening.
Lighting a scented candle.
Cafetiere coffee in my favourite Emma Bridgewater mug every morning.
Looking at lovely words written to me in cards by people I really love. Some of these date back thirty years.

Also - this is a bit tragic - recording Classic Holby City and watching an episode at night when everyone else has gone to bed.
