Moisturiser - if you had a limited budget what would you suggest?

My thirties have crept up on me and I need a decent.. or at least affordable.. moisturiser. My skin is generally dry, can be oily around the T zone during TOTM.
My husband is currently the sole wage earner so although I have some money to myself I'm looking under the £10 mark. Not looking for miracles, just hoping for a decent no frills product that will prevent if not cure!

Another vote for Aldi Caviar night cream and day creams. I have found Superdrug Vitamin E range is very good too.

Another vote for Astral Original, used nightly on face and hands since teens, now 50s. Used Clarins and other expensive brands when gifted but prefer my Astral, big tub about £7.

I’ve been using The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA for a few months (it’s about £5), and think it’s brilliant.

TheSpottedZebra · 06/01/2021 23:50

Agree I'd go super cheap, eg aldi, lidl, superdrug vit e. Spend 3 or 4 pound max of your £10. Then splash the rest on spf, and use it. This will do you the most 'good' in the long run.

heidbuttsupper · 06/01/2021 23:51

Loreal 35+ l love it and its only £5

gradetoolisted · 06/01/2021 23:54

The Ordinary -Natural Moisturising factors

A tad over your budget but if you can stretch a bit, I like the Body Shop vitamin E stuff

Aldi's moisturisers and serums are brilliant and really cheap. Don't waste your money elsewhere!

BunnyBoilerRhian · 07/01/2021 00:29

Hydra Genius aloe water I use the dry sensitive and its fab on my dry skin and does not grease up my oily TZone. It's supposedly 9.99 but most places have it on offer for 6 or 7 pounds. I usually order off Amazon these days at 6.66

I also use Simple Hydra Boost. About £3.25 i think. Its a tiny 25ml tube but a miniscule drop goes a very long way. I use this as and when as an additional booster on my dry areas. Recently the cold outside and then the ch has been really playing up my super dry cheeks, so ive been using it every day and its fab. A tube lasts me a few months so don't be put off by the size.

Another vote for Lidl or Aldi.

HoofHeartedSanta · 07/01/2021 00:49

Aldi

GrimDamnFanjo · 07/01/2021 00:59

Cerave. It's a steal for the ingredients it contains. Plus a SPF.

powershowerforanhour · 07/01/2021 01:10

Anything with UVA and UVB protection, from hairline to collarbones, year round. I like the cheapest Olay ones and Nivea Q10 or whatever is on offer in the supermarket.
If outside in the summer- factor 50 (any kind), a hat and preferably sunglasses.

BusterGonad · 07/01/2021 01:27

I'd say Aveeno. It tends to moisturise to a deep level whereas I find Nivea just moisturiserises the top layer iyswim.

planningaheadtoday · 07/01/2021 01:36

Lidl and Aldi own brands. They are decent copies of expensive brands. Good product and low cost.

NaturalBigDarkBrows · 07/01/2021 01:44

Same age & skin. I've really noticed a much brighter & glowy complexion using Aldi serum & simple 72h protect & glow moisturiser. Also has SPF in it 👌🏽

ifIwerenotanandroid · 07/01/2021 02:03

Something from the Simple range.

SionnachRua · 07/01/2021 02:22

Another Aldi own brand fan here.

bebarkered · 07/01/2021 03:05

NoraNorth
How much Astral do you use to moisturise your face?
TIA

Guineapigbridge · 07/01/2021 03:16

I used expensive moisturizer for YEARS (eg clarins, l'occitane) but I tried Nivea and I love it! Very cheap, very effective.

Year2021 · 07/01/2021 03:44

@287xx

Simple water boost gel cream. Inexpensive, really hydrating while helping with oiliness and doesn’t make oily bits any oilier!
Agreed it's amazing
Userzzz · 07/01/2021 03:53

I love Nivea.

Dereg · 07/01/2021 03:57

Superdrug Vitamin E, cruelty free, cheap and lovely.

Ginmaker · 07/01/2021 03:58

I've been all the way up the value chain with serums and moisturisers from L'Oréal, through Clarins, Decleor, Caudalie to Chanel and La Mer. I've also tried a smorgasbord of The Ordinary which took about 20 minutes per night.

I keep coming back to and will now never depart from Boots own Cucumber Moisturiser Cream at £1.50 per pot and on 3 for 2 offer. Nothing short of miraculous.
