Moisturiser - if you had a limited budget what would you suggest?

My thirties have crept up on me and I need a decent.. or at least affordable.. moisturiser. My skin is generally dry, can be oily around the T zone during TOTM.
My husband is currently the sole wage earner so although I have some money to myself I'm looking under the £10 mark. Not looking for miracles, just hoping for a decent no frills product that will prevent if not cure!

Ideally, one with an SPF of 30 or above in it. Or any other cream, and suncream on top of it to protect you from UVA/UVB rays, even in winter.

inquietant · 06/01/2021 23:09

I use coconut oil which is £8 twice a year.

fitflopqueen · 06/01/2021 23:11

Aldi here too for the past 4 years, have tried more expensive brands but always back to the caviar, I do use a facial oil as well though (currently trying a bare minerals plant sample one at night).

Aldi Q10 (Lidl also good but I prefer the smell of the Aldi one). It's about £2 and brilliant.

Fangdrew · 06/01/2021 23:13

Nivea Q10 night. I’ll probably use it for the rest of my life unless they stop making it!

The other one I love the feel of is Eucerin urea replenishing cream - think it’s around a tenner or just over. Non greasy, and leaves skin feeling so comfy.

TheBitterBoy · 06/01/2021 23:14

You can't go wrong with any of the Superdrug own brand ranges - they are inexpensive, and often on offer so even cheaper. I've used quite a bit of their stuff and really rate them, Sali Hughes has written about lots of their products too.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 06/01/2021 23:16

Another vote for Aldi - not because of the price but because it's as good as any of the other brands I have tried over the years

Ragwort · 06/01/2021 23:16

Nivea soft - used it for years, I am over 60, no lines or blemishes (and I don't follow a good diet or avoid sun Grin).. occasionally been tempted by something expensive but always return to Nivea - love it.

pinkcarnations · 06/01/2021 23:19

Lidl Q10 serum. The only thing that doesn't bring me out in spots! Late 40's sensitive peri menopausal skin.

Pootle40 · 06/01/2021 23:19

Products from the inkey list. They work and can't believe I didn't discover them sooner.

ElizaLaLa · 06/01/2021 23:20

Normal blue tin Nivea is 1 ingredient away from creme de la mer apparently.

I'm really liking loriel revitalist atm.

Whiskysoda · 06/01/2021 23:20

I’m a huge fan of Nivea. Marvellous stuff and cheap as chips too.

MiddleClassMother · 06/01/2021 23:21

Reading this is making me want to ditch some of my (much) more expensive products for Aldi, is it really as good as everyone says? Also does it have an SPF?

Yes, the Q10 (ie bog standard one) is sPF20
alltoomuchrightnow · 06/01/2021 23:27

I must be the only one to hate Aldi Lacura. I've tried so much of it and all got binned. It burns like buggery on me....

AnnaSW1 · 06/01/2021 23:29

Budget isn't an issue for me. But the one my skin loves the most of all I've tried is Oil of Olay.

SonjaMorgan · 06/01/2021 23:30

They do have some nice bits in tkmaxx, I normally Google reviews whilst in there. I actually love ponds cold cream as a cleanser and find I rarely use anything else.

CatChant · 06/01/2021 23:30

Astral Original. My mother swore by it and now I do too.

Misspiggyshiyah · 06/01/2021 23:31

Another vote for aldi caviar! I have similar skin to yours and it's the best I've ever used. There's a night cream too. Absolute bargain, think normally about £6.99.

Doodallysally · 06/01/2021 23:33

Anything by the Simple range! Between £3-7. Check which is best for your skin type.

This Garnier one is more natural, smells divine and £9.99

This L'Oréal one on sale atm at £8 is great, with spf too

And the Nivea Blue Tin, especially as you have very dry skin. My grandma used it and my mum. Both had great skin.

H1978 · 06/01/2021 23:34

I use the boots q10 anti ageing cream. My skin has never looked so good. Only £4.00 too.

Rsturbobird · 06/01/2021 23:35

Coconut oil , completely natural with so many other beneficial uses.
£1.50 in Aldi 😜

jelly79 · 06/01/2021 23:38

Also lacura is nice - the same as clearings in my opinion

jelly79 · 06/01/2021 23:38

That should say Aldi (not also) Q10 or caviar

CatVsChristmasTree · 06/01/2021 23:39

Aldi, I have had a few, their most expensive and the next one down (red jar) and they are fab.
