Another thread in the saga filled up (so no forwards link)

I think maybe we're endurance athletes, or maybe multievent like a decathlon Grin

I took my tree down yesterday. Why do they never fit back in the same box the buggers came out of a few weeks earlier! Packed away all the decorations then remembered the Christmas projector was still out so packed that away. Sat at my desk and have realised the snowman fairy lights are still around my “office” notice board. Can I get away with them until this December rather than get the loft ladder out again...?

Seriouslymole · 04/01/2021 14:10

We're even worse on the tree front, in that it's naked but still needs to be planted back in the garden. It's a two-person job as DH is back at school (risking life and limb obviously by being with small people Hmm) and I only have DS to help who is not big enough and also "home schooling".

I am beyond despair at the moment, everyone shouting for another lockdown and for shutting schools. Not just on here but IRL too. My twat of a neighbour, whose daughter we look after a LOT, like I mean a lot, practically every morning before school and after school too, said to me that we needed lockdown. I said to him it was alright for him and his DW as they were both public sector but actually if the private sector (aka me and millions of others) didn't get properly back to work soon, there would be no-one to pay for him soon. He said, in an extremely arrogant fashion "oh we will always get paid". Many rude words flashed through my head, I settled on "bell-end" and nearly told him to sort his own f'ing childcare. But I just gave a tight smile and walked on.

Sonicthehedgehogg · 04/01/2021 14:29

Seriously what a thoroughly discourteous knob. I'd have been cursing in my head too (then spent the day re-hashing how else I could have told him so)

Iheartmysmart · 04/01/2021 14:34

I’ve met a few people out on dog walks who are desperate for another lockdown but most seem to be very much of the “we just need to learn to live with it” camp.

One person who I’ve always thought of as quite sensible was surprised to find we’ve only had one death in our local area throughout the whole pandemic but they think that’s worse because people will become blasé and they should still be very scared of this deadly virus Hmm

justasking111 · 04/01/2021 14:34

Found another Dec I am not bringing the ladder indoors again so on top of wardrobe untill next Xmas. Have one little tree a real one will keep that indoors and water for a bit of Xmas

Wales Gething schools spoke today said schools would not change course until they changed course. Think unions will be the judge of that the pratt.

Gething spoke about vaccine, well no it would not change anything much, you might not die but you may still kill others. Confused

Pleasedontdothat · 04/01/2021 14:42

Here we go again ... the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different outcome...

If lockdowns and ever tighter restrictions were the answer then why the fuck do we need to keep doing them?

3 weeks to flatten the curve ... 41 weeks later ...

justasking111 · 04/01/2021 14:52

OMG just seen Scotland full lockdown at midnight, no schools at all. Yikes.

Evenstar · 04/01/2021 15:01

Boris making a statement 8pm this evening, Parliament being recalled

That is exactly my feeling too. Meanwhile, over there they are wanking themselves into a frenzy of euphoria over the thought of a total lockdown. Sad

I can't be arsed to watch the announcement. It just pisses me off, much better to just spend 2 mins afterwards looking up the new rules than wasting yet another hour of my life looking at charts, listening to Boris waffle and then the journalists ask the same questions over and over again.

Jourdain11 · 04/01/2021 15:06

Parliament recalled when? Tomorrow, to debate it after the fact?

thenightsky · 04/01/2021 15:12

@2020BogOff I've not watched an announcement yet, not even the very first one in March. Don't intend to start now. The gist of it will be plastered all over SM within 5 mins anyway.

Jourdain11 · 04/01/2021 15:13

"It is with uh, deep regret, that alas, we must now go one step further. From, ah, midnight, we all must uh, stay at home to, ah, protect the NHS and save lives. Exemptions will, of course, apply in some circumstances. For example, uh, if any of my Special Advisors wish to, for example, make a 250 mile trip, this would be allowed under the Exceptional Circumstances for Entitled Twits clause..."

DH likes to watch them but as he is ill recovering from Covid I have told him he can watch the tv on his own and I will go in another room. Even he said he can't be bothered this time he must still be feeling shit

Evenstar · 04/01/2021 15:22

@Jourdain11 I think they said recalled to sit on Wednesday

Seriouslymole · 04/01/2021 15:37

I have to step away from the other threads - I keep getting myself soooo angry! DS having spent the whole day at home has buggered off to a friend's house. I don't have it in me to stop him. Friend's mum is a friend of mine too and they are fairly easy going about life.

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 04/01/2021 15:40

So Scotland has gone for closure of all primary, secondary and nursery schools. I wonder if that applies to nurseries other than those attached to a primary school - ie private nurseries, childminders, nannies. Because if Boris pulls that one out of his arse again then I am in deep shit.

RobinHobb · 04/01/2021 15:47

petition.parliament.uk/petitions/565100

A petition started by a friend to keep nursery and primary school open. Not sure it will go anywhere, but if you agree please do sign.

NastyBlouse · 04/01/2021 15:52

Oh this is beyond parody now.

Government, 'leadership' and so on I mean.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 04/01/2021 15:52

Feeling sad and fully expecting another lockdown in England, sorry for those in the rest of the UK who either already had it or it has just been announced. Well my dickhead of a brother (who I normally love dearly and do still love despite massively disagreeing with him on this) will be pleased as he wanted the country locked down for the whole of January. I hope that if that does happen it doesn't then keep extending as I am struggling already. Oh well.

flower11 · 04/01/2021 15:53

So can Boris do the same from midnight?
Do I iron the school uniform for tomorrow or not????
