Another thread in the saga filled up (so no forwards link)

I think maybe we're endurance athletes, or maybe multievent like a decathlon Grin

Livin hope your DB gets all the care he needs to make a full recovery. Must be very stressful for you. (())

DrDiva · 08/01/2021 18:27

And with that Derbyshire story, I note that yet again it’s a couple of women who are stopped. Not 6’5” rugby built males...

flower11 · 08/01/2021 18:31

I was thinking the same, they always go for the easy targets.

Willow2017 · 08/01/2021 18:36

Every sodding time. Or a youngish couple with little kids thinking they wont make a fuss to upset the kids.
Fecking cowards should be ashamed.
Why were there so many police doing nothing in an empty car park? Go catch some real criminals. Irs just another excuse to do sfa and brag about it.

NastyBlouse · 08/01/2021 18:37

It might be my suspicious mind but I get the slightest whiff of a PR exercise from that Derbyshire thing. I might be very wrong.

It’s certainly a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Or more accurately, an ICBM to blow away a dandelion seed.

TheOrchidKiller · 08/01/2021 18:49

I've also been wondering about regulars on here I haven't spotted for a while- hope all are ok.

I saw the aftermath of a distressing incident on the drive home tonight, feel a bit shaken. The police & emergency services here are sadly too busy to fine people for drinking coffee outside.

The wildlife tales today have been very soothing. We have a pond locally which is frozen over but not ok for skating on unless you have wings & flippers.

I think we need a slot at the end of the news where they just show footage of ducklings or sunsets. Or maybe bring back the potter's wheel. Anything soothing would be good.

I think it's highly likely based on last time. The drone footage was right at the start and then they eased off.

The quarry was different in that it's toxic and private land with no public rights of access. There has long been a precedent of dying it black to make it less attractive from before 2020.

It's my birthday tomorrow and a nice sunny day forecast so I will be going for a nice walk with a Starbucks firmly gripped in my hands ( even though I don't drink coffee)Grin

LivinLaVidaLoki · 08/01/2021 20:04

Thank you all for your kind words. I love you all.
Hes still in the clinical care bit in the home and between them, his gp and the local public health response team they are monitoring him closely and hopefully if his condition doesn't get worse then at least he'll stay out of hospital and be managed at the home.
It's just the onset of symptoms and the increase severity all happened really quickly as its suspected he was infected on Tuesday.
I keep telling myself that he'll be fine but he's got angina which makes him vulnerable before you even take into account the paralysis (his level of paralysis means he has a compromised respiratory system, even a bog standard chest infection can land him with pneumonia). Guess it's a case of staying positive and getting through the coming days.

rosettesforjill · 08/01/2021 20:07

@LivinLaVidaLoki I hope it passes quickly and uneventfully for your brother Thanks

profpoopsnagle · 08/01/2021 20:15

Best wishes for your DB Livin

I have a cunning plan. No matter where we go, we all go out walking with a tea/coffee cup. Doesn't matter where we are going. Don't bother to fill it if you don't want to, just walk with it proudly on show. The police won't be able to arrest us all. Those of us who have a hot drink on our travels will still be able to enjoy it.

Extra points if this is your travel mug!

AaahWoof · 08/01/2021 20:31

DD1 was trying to work out how she could start a political party and take over from Boris as PM this afternoon. Well it's progress from wanting to flush him down the toilet.

AcornAutumn · 08/01/2021 20:48

Bit more of the song, cba to finish it.

🎤 Saw the ghost of Cummings
On Teesdale Avenue
Followed him up
To the gates of Barnard
And I watched him drive right through
Now security cameras saw him
But pretended no one knew

There's a dollar laden thing
Waiting for the kings
Down in the COBRA room

Said I was walking with Starbucks
I was walking for my daily exercise
Walking with Starbucks
Police were a really bad surprise

They got vaccines on the table
Corruption in the air
And Justin Welby
Don't want to see you
Not in his church for prayer🎤

Seriouslymole · 08/01/2021 20:57

Definitely up for some coffee rebellion here - but in fairness, the only police I have seen are our friends who are in our childcare bubble and fairly dependent on us for childcare so unlikely they’d dob me in for reckless walking and coffee drinking.

Seriouslymole · 08/01/2021 20:58

@AcornAutumn - pure genius

smallandimperfectlyformed · 08/01/2021 21:10

@TheOrchidKiller I am sorry that you saw a distressing incident, I hope that you have been able to put it out of your mind/talk to someone about what you have seen/do whatever it takes to help you cope with it. Funny you mentioned ducks skating, I was speaking to my mum the other day and asked if they still did 'and finally' - I don't really watch the news and I used to enjoy those little nuggets of positivity!
@dingit happy birthday to you for tomorrow Cake

MercyBooth · 08/01/2021 21:19

@AcornAutumn thats fab.

AcornAutumn · 08/01/2021 21:28

Thanks Mercy - it was the only way I could chuckle at something today!

Glad it's been highlighted, less worried about where I go for a walk now.

DH just looked over my shoulder and remarked that she has his support either way. And, he adds, do the two have to exclude each other? Wink
dingit · 08/01/2021 21:35

I think a bunch of school kids would make an excellent political party.
Acornautumn, loving the poems.

Thank you for the birthday wishes 😊

Tmpnamechange · 08/01/2021 21:39

Phew! They've done everyone a favour really and clarified it unequivocally. I've screen shot their post.
