Another thread in the saga filled up (so no forwards link)

I think maybe we're endurance athletes, or maybe multievent like a decathlon Grin

It worries me that it's a different part of the county. I can kind of see a logic in deterring heavy footfall and congestion to the Peak District where rates in many of the village areas have consistently been lower throughout and emergency access to healthcare is far, far slower.
But this resevoir is relatively small (owned by Severn Trent) and not going to attract a pool of people further than Swadlincote to Derby. There were parking issues there through May when prats clogged up blind bends by parking illegally on an NSL road and I wonder if that's why its on the radar.
They're also been hanging out around a country park just off the edge of the city boundary. Again, that was on their radar for problem parking.
But that's not the issue that they're tackling here. It's been fucking freezing all week. The country park is a swamp. It's not circumstances where people are going to flock en-mass.

Containing people within urban boundaries instead of letting them spread naturally within their "local" areas is absolute stupidity. The days are short. Many routes are impractically icy/ muddy. You can't just step into a road to dodge people as in April. Mental health for the masses has plummeted. People need to spread out, get time alone, change their scenery.

This logic means the police would apparently take issue with me being a mile away from home in all but 90⁰ from my house due to the layout of boundaries!

I know this week is crap when I haven't exercised since the 4th. CBA. CBA to get dressed either. Did the kids' English and went to bed for a 2 hour nap.

I'm not conventionally depressed, but the lack of any kind of happy/ excited/ stimulating neural activity has starved me of a normal range of emotions.

I just want to sleep until April.

I'm feeling like you littlebitmad, very flat and can't be bothered to do anything. I also want people to leave me alone. I have a friend who if I don't reply to texts within a couple of hours texts me again to say "Are you okay?" Aaargh, yes, just leave me alone! I think it's emotional exhaustion. I've managed to exercise this morning for the first time for a while so that's made me feel a bit better about myself.

@Dowser

That’s the worry isn’t it Police over reaching their remit.

Also I see in the amendments to the legislation, that the PCSO’s have been included...given them more powers?
Well I hope they’ve been given the training also

Surely the last thing the police want is to be seen as bad guys to normally law abiding citizens

I think police patience is exhausted, a friend in a village near us was in tears this morning, her neighbours are partying, in and out of each others houses, she had a baby in lockdown has a toddler too. Some folk just do not care. There is an old saying "Dont care was made to care"

Don’t care was made to care,
Don’t care was hung:
Don’t care was put in a pot
And boiled till he was done.

Reedwarbler · 08/01/2021 13:56

Derbyshire police (and possibly other forces) should remember they are policing by consent. They need to keep the public onside, otherwise they could be starting down a very slippery slope.

Weedsnseeds1 · 08/01/2021 13:56

Vintagelovingmum I probably live somewhere very similar to you. The starlings are probably about 20 minutes drive, but I would class it as local by our standards!.
Directly opposite my house is a big jackdaw roost, they are extremely noisy Dawn and dusk!

Dowser · 08/01/2021 14:16

@MoltenLasagne

Derbyshire police need to understand the difference between guidance and law. Mind you they were the eejits who used drones to film a guy walking his dog in the Peak District miles from another soul in March so powertrips aren't exactly new to them.
Yes, I remember that
Worldgonecrazy · 08/01/2021 14:22

Our outdoor exercise in lockdown one consisted of walking around our local (admittedly pretty) golf course. But the first thing I said for lockdown three was that I couldn’t face walking around the same bloody golf courses again. I’m not sure if driving 10 miles for my favourite run is going to get me arrested though.

Dowser · 08/01/2021 14:31

I drove all through lockdown .
On one day in the first few days of lockdown I passed 12 police cars.

It just didn’t make sense not to drive when people were still travelling to work on buses and the train to get into my car to drive to a sd beach or park

AcornAutumn · 08/01/2021 15:07

Sorry everyone, I couldn't resist

To the tune of "walking in Memphis"

🎤Put on my training boots
And I got in the car
Not far from Ashby de la Zouche
not remotely far

There were PCs hanging
They were looking over me
Yes, I got a nice warm mint tea
But that's all wrong you see

Said I was walking with Starbucks
I was walking with my friend ten feet away
I was walking with Starbucks
Do I get a PCN for tea? 🎤

well its snowing like fuck here, school has closed to everyone no matter what ya job title and ds has spent the afternoon building a snowman with dp.

just read about starbucks-gate. Police are making themselves look a bit silly.

Awesome Acorn!

The Starbucks thread is turning a bit bonkers.

We had a teeny bit of snow first thing but it’s just drizzle again now.

The bulb has just gone in my desk lamp and I don’t have a spare one. Will the grannies be safe if I go and get one. Bearing in mind so far today I’ve been out with the dog x4 as well as dropping DS off at work and picking him up again. Is there a formula for working out your outsideness to murder ratio?

I also have a new boiler and now realise my old one sounded like an asthmatic donkey.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 08/01/2021 15:46

Well, spoke to the nurse at DB2s care home earlier. He has tested positive for covid. He is quite poorly so being taken care of by the clinical team.
Given his paralysis, the effect that has on not just his immunity but his respiratory system and the fact he has angina, they are in contact with the local public health clinicians to monitor him closely and ascertain if he will need to go into hospital.

Dowser · 08/01/2021 15:49

Can’t get my head around the two women walking in Derbyshire story.

It’s not about covid risk when you see this
It’s control, pure and simple.
When everyone is obese, unhealthy and depressed..then what?

Rain, hail, cold wind
Shall save it for another day.

I’m not that desperate

Dowser · 08/01/2021 15:51

Omg, that’s scary Livin

I wish him well

Seriouslymole · 08/01/2021 15:54

Yes I had to flee here after reading two pages of the Starbucks thread with people coming out with such gems as “well it’s obviously illegal”. I cannot believe we have got to such a situation that people are accepting if your parents work for the “state” they get educated, if they don’t you’re on your own (I know that’s not really how it is but it feels a bit like it) and the police are monitoring exercise. It’s like some communist, dystopian nightmare.

I feel thoroughly fed up today. I can’t motivate myself to do anything which is very unusual for me.

Seriouslymole · 08/01/2021 15:54

@LivinLaVidaLoki - so sorry to hear about your DB.
