Another thread in the saga filled up (so no forwards link)

I think maybe we're endurance athletes, or maybe multievent like a decathlon Grin

I'm so sick of this shit now. They couldn't be that fucking sick if you were sending them home. Fucking idiots.

I nearly missed proper black bag bin week last week. It was awful. I had to take the bin up the path in my pjs mid morning before I'd even had any coffee.

DS went to school today. If they shut them after a day the government will be a laughing stock.

Keep this handy for later bingo

I'd feed so less cynical about all of this if the fear factor had a break over the summer and into the autumn.

It's the boy who cried wolf. There may well be a wolf this time but blah blah blah, sadly this, critical that, blah blah blah. My emotional range is pretty stunted these days.

Just found this in a local paper, it's a bit reassuring, given its what he said this morning.

Speaking to the PA during a visit to Chase Farm Hospital in north London to meet some of the first people to receive the Oxford vaccine on Monday, Mr Johnson said there were “tough tough” weeks to come.

He added: “If you look at the numbers there’s no question we will have to take tougher measures and we will be announcing those in due course.”

Despite his warning of tougher restrictions he insisted schools were safe, and added: “It’s very important to understand that back in March, one of the things I look back on with the greatest misgivings was the closure of primary schools because it’s so important for young people to get an education

MercyBooth · 04/01/2021 19:16

Channel 4 news has said if they carry on vaccinating at the rate they are now we should be done by October 2027

smallandimperfectlyformed · 04/01/2021 19:19

2027? That's insane!

Jourdain11 · 04/01/2021 19:21

OMG I can't believe it! DC's school have said they're not able to accommodate them for the rest of this week, as they need to assess the staffing situation. Meanwhile DH is supposed to be in his school every day but Thursday and it's my chemo week so I'm going to be useless. We don't have enough food in either, and DH is either going to have to pick stuff up tomorrow. I'm so fed up with all this shit, I just want it to be over. I haven't seen my family in France for over a year and it's starting to feel like I'll never see them again, I'll never be better, this will never be over, DD1 will never get the help she needs to get any kind of a normal life back... It's all just so utterly miserable.

Lostinacloud · 04/01/2021 19:23

Am I being extra cynical in thinking this was most definitely always the plan - I.e. lockdown in January because the NHS can’t handle winter respiratory season at the best of times.

Big however here though... before they u-turned on allowing families to get together at Christmas, we were being told “just because you can doesn’t mean you should“ and all that shite and the inevitable lockdown was going to be blamed nicely on families daring to indeed meet up with their own relatives and they would have been able to so nicely tell us that they told us so. Then the D’s put enough pressure on to force that U-turn so now what can they do to hide their utter failure to be prepared for a particularly heavy winter year? Hmmm how about a new and much more contagious strain? Around since September but handily useful now as a tool to strike fear into everyone again and justify an easy January lockdown that most of us are all begging for and no-one is blaming the government for their failures again. It’s disgraceful, dishonest and we are being played like puppets Angry

DrDiva · 04/01/2021 19:26

So Margaret Ferrier gets arrested but Dominic Cummings still swans off into the sunset.

Hmm.

AcornAutumn · 04/01/2021 19:27

lost yes this was always the plan

Jourdain are you anywhere in north London? I don't have a car but can carry a bit to you on the bus if thats's any help? Planning my usual 9pm Aldi!

Does anyone know, is it prerecorded tonight?

Jourdain11 · 04/01/2021 19:32

Acorn aww, that's actually so kind of you! But we are West... thanks all the same though Flowers We will figure something out!!

NastyBlouse · 04/01/2021 19:35

I’ve put some Leonard Cohen on to cheer myself up.

This situation with schools is staggeringly, scandalously bad. Flowers and Wine for every parent out there who’s battling uncertainty, governmental incompetence, and the wholesale abandonment of the very people who will be the future of our country, society and world.

mightbealittlebitmad · 04/01/2021 19:37

Am I unreasonable for just wanting to be left alone and not discuss why I'm feeling so angry and frustrated? I feel like I'm in the wrong for not being happy and positive or wanting to talk about it. All we are doing is arguing about it and I'm fed up of being made to feel like the bad guy because I say I don't want to talk, he pushes, I explode so then he gets offended.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 04/01/2021 19:40

@Jourdain11 that is spectacularly shit. I am so sorry for you and all of the things you are going through right now Flowers

Weedsnseeds1 · 04/01/2021 19:41

It's death by a thousand cuts.

AaahWoof · 04/01/2021 19:50

I can't take much more. My kids have gone to bed not knowing if they'll be at school tomorrow or not... my mental health is so terrible I struggle to swallow and stammer with the anxiety being so bad... I've just had to begin talking to uni about possibly deferring some of my course to try to get me through. Tried to make contact with school about the circumstances at home - no fucking joy there.

I can't take much more - but I have to keep going to not fuck the kids up.

AcornAutumn · 04/01/2021 19:53

No worries.
smallandimperfectlyformed · 04/01/2021 19:59

@mightbealittlebitmad are you the poster whose husband always wanted the GPS on your phone as well? If you are then I am sorry that he is not even letting you express your frustrations to him. If not then obviously I still don't think that you are unreasonable for not feeling as though you can talk freely. Other than here, do you have any people you can speak to? I hope that you are ok Flowers

By which time it will have mutated to become a regular winter cold.
MercyBooth · 04/01/2021 20:01

@Lostinacloud Heard a newsreader earlier equate having Christmas dinner with family with the NYE protests outside that hospital. Yep Because its totes the same.

Willow2017 · 04/01/2021 20:02

Jourdain11
Big hugs, thats bloody awful. Hope school can wrangle something for you. Its a disgrace whats happening now it really is.
Do you have a Morrison's nearby? They do special vulnerable shopping. Not just a generic box of essentials, you tell them what you want and its hand picked and delivered to your door. Go on the website there is a number, you just tell them your local shop and your details and they will get in touch. Fingers crossed.

Thank you so fucking much, Boris.

That was basically no school until at least half term, wasn’t it? Fuck.
