Tell me, oh mothers of teenage boys...

Where on earth do you buy them pyjamas?

Ds is okay with stripes or plain colours, also tartan style pj bottoms. Have I missed pyjama season or something? I can’t find them anywhere in age 13. White company (not my usual shop but I’m scraping the barrel of all the shops I know) has some suitable but only up to age 12. Do boys stop wearing pyjamas when they enter their teens? I have looked on John Lewis, m and s, Boden, joules, h and m, Tu, and I can’t think of anywhere else. Help!

I recently bought my teenage son PJ's from Tesco men section in size S and they fit perfectly.

autumnboys · 02/01/2021 21:43

Mine moved into men xs/small around that age, I think.

Rollergirl11 · 02/01/2021 21:44

Next, they go up to age 16.

Primark and Matalan

PickAChew · 02/01/2021 21:47

Next do teens sizes and men's XS.

It's compounded by no one having a lot of stock at the moment, mind.

WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 02/01/2021 21:47

Mens PJs here. DS2 (14) wears Mandalorian ones from primark, size small. He is insanely slim so they hang off him but he has very long legs so I wasn't sure XS would last. Previously he had size 4/6 ladies PJs (also from Primark)

DS1 (16) has dr who ones from Amazon and some others. No idea where from. Possibly also Amazon.

Amazon have lots of mens PJs in all kinds of patterns/plain/characters etc.

zaphodbeeble · 02/01/2021 21:47

Asda

missmouse101 · 02/01/2021 21:48

Yes asda or tesco men's small or xs. M and S good too.

DrunkenKoala · 02/01/2021 21:49

Next have loads like you describe and the go up to age 16.

formerbabe · 02/01/2021 21:49

I agree entirely op...they are so hard to find. I've started buying my tall nearly 13 year old pyjamas from the men's section in a small size.

thegirlwithkaleidoscopeeyes · 02/01/2021 21:49

George at Asda - small mens lounge pants with plain t shirts.

Anjelika · 02/01/2021 21:49

Very tall slim DS almost 14 - either Next Age 16 (have to order online) or more recently Matalan Mens Size S. He prefers these as they have pockets.

SweepTheHalls · 02/01/2021 21:49

Marks and Spencer

PickAChew · 02/01/2021 21:49

On back order in the size you want, mind www.next.co.uk/style/st561928/803684#803684?i=1011years

redcandlelight · 02/01/2021 21:51

mens size s fit my teens, tall and skinny well.
last pairs were 'sweat suits' from uniqlo. (both hate buttons and collars)

OTannenbaum · 02/01/2021 21:52

I think there are two issues. One, about age 12 most shops seem to somehow imagine that boys turn into men in a way that girls are not suddenly expected to shop on the women’s section. Very annoying as I really resent having to pay VAT on my 13 year olds clothes. Two, because many shops do this, the few that do go up to teen ages sell out quickly and Christmas is the traditional time to get new PJs. So a lot of places that do do them are currently sold out of those ages due to Christmas and the sales. I get my 13 year old son’s PJs (similar tastes to yours) if I can in the child ranges from Mini Boden, Fatface, M and S or John Lewis usually. H and M do go up to that age as do Next but I personally don’t like their stuff. He does have some men’s stuff from Hollister. You might have to get small men’s for now but I recommend that you look in late October/early November this year if you want boys PJs. Dressing gowns are the same argh! It’s a nightmare. There is a serious gap in the market for a clothes shop that caters specifically for tween and teen boys in my opinion!

user686833 · 02/01/2021 21:53

In my experience teen boys and men overwhelmingly just wear boxer shorts to bed, maybe with a t-shirt in winter.

But I have a similar problem trying to find girls clothes in general age 13 plus. I have to buy adult size 6-8 instead, or XS women. I'm sure your 13 year old would fit XS men's. Also try Gap, I think their teen range goes bigger and they are usually good for pyjamas.

Bvop · 02/01/2021 21:55

Ds hasn’t yet had his growth spurt otherwise I’d get him the adult size. I’ll have a look at next and Asda, thank you. And Amazon (even though I hate them for not paying taxes)

My boys love the next pjs, DS1 is 14and about 5ft8, he has small mens with the long leg. DS2 is 12 and has XS mens or S. They have cuffed legs on some so doesn't matter if a bit long.

treeeeemendous · 02/01/2021 21:56

This drives me mad. I find it near impossible to buy clothes for ds. He is not man sized yet.

Next pjs go up to age 16 but you can only find them online anyway. In store seems to stop at age 11.

PugInTheHouse · 02/01/2021 21:56

DS2 is not much over 5ft and the mens sizes are fine if they have the cuffed leg.

LegoLady95 · 02/01/2021 21:57

I bought H and M, they go up to age 14+.

TicTacTwo · 02/01/2021 21:57

M&S and Next go to age 15-16.
H&M go up to size age 14+ which is very similar to a man's xs

treeeeemendous · 02/01/2021 21:58

@user686833 topshop and Primark start at a size 4. H&M a 6. New look teen range can be good for some bits too. DD buys lots from Shein where an XS is a 6.
