What's the best film on Netflix at the moment?

I'm in the mood for a film. Probably not a rom-com unless its properly amazing. Definitely not a TV programme. What's the best thing you've seen on Netflix recently?

I dunno about "best", but we've just watched Enola Holmes, which was quite sweet.

NovemberNameChangeYeahBaby · 02/01/2021 20:52

I've seen that (surprisingly, I don't sit and watch many films). You're right, its very enjoyable.

Not Netflix but hidden figures was on c4 recently and was amazing.

EscapeTheCastle · 02/01/2021 20:54

We have just watched the Breaking Bad film "El Camino" we were v late to watch this follow up to the awesome TV series. Loved it.

EscapeTheCastle · 02/01/2021 20:59

I really enjoy watching "The Prestige", seen it a few times now.

"Blue Ruin"

"Spiderman Into the Spider-verse"

If in doubt you can go through the section called "award winning films" and see if you've missed any modem classics.

Is Eurovision still on there ? I properly loved that but appreciate that might be niche!

6 underground or The Martian.

Hidden Figures looks right up my street but isn't on Netflix or Sky, and I'm not paying money for it. I'll keep an eye out if its on Film4 at any point.

I haven't seen The Prestige but I've had the ending spoiled. Spiderman I can watch during the day with the children (love Spuderman). Blue Ruin looks violent! Might watch it.

NovemberNameChangeYeahBaby · 02/01/2021 21:11

I've seen Guardians of the Galaxy several times Grin but honestly not ruling it out!

Not a film but loved Love Life and Bridgerton. Both great switch off tv.

ArcheryAnnie · 02/01/2021 21:18

If you are willing to watch a subtitled film, and a long film, then I really, really recommend "Happy New Year", which is on netflix. It's a Bollywood heist comedy, and is genuinely one of the most funny and delightful films we watched last year. If you've never watched a Bollywood film before, don't be put off - I have recommended it to other people who hadn't ever watched one, and they found it utterly delightful, too.

(It's extra funny if you've ever seen any other Shah Rukh Khan movies, as the first ten minutes is basically just making fun of the fact that every SRK movie has to have him with his shirt off and his rippling torso wet, but if you haven't seen any SRK movies, just enjoy the abs.)

Looking at my watchlist on Netflix and these ones jump out as ones I really enjoyed;
Prisoners
We're The Millers
Fighting with my Family
The Wolf of Wall Street
Wild Rose
Misery
Now You See Me 1 & 2

Misty9 · 02/01/2021 21:27
