You have £3k to spend on yourself

What do you buy?

The rules are simple: it cannot benefit anyone but you. So if you wanted to go on holiday, that’s fine, but anyone else would have to pay their part completely. You cannot buy anything for anyone else including children and you cannot pay off debt.

So in this dreamland, what are you buying?

I was thinking a VCA necklace but even in this fake world, I can’t imagine spending so much on one thing!

Sclerotherapy to thread veins
Spend whatever is left on a good personal trainer for a couple months kickstart

BillMasheen · 01/01/2021 22:36

Campervan or a mountain bike.

I had to sell my nice mountain bike to cover a financial shortfall and I miss it every day.

I want this beauty:

Which running leggings? I don't know. That's half the problem.

I want them full length and I'm tall. I have Ronhill at the moment but they're too big for me, long enough but baggy in the bum. The size smaller was too short. Does anyone know a brand that works for long and thin?

originalusernamefail · 01/01/2021 23:50

A holiday, all alone, in some far flung paradise! I can dream.

Equimum · 01/01/2021 23:52

A puppy

MrsWhistledown · 01/01/2021 23:55

A puppy or a handbag, maybe a chanel or a Dior one!

On the more boring side I'd really like to start investing so would most likely actually put it into that.

Littlepond · 02/01/2021 01:03

Driving lessons

£1300 on a counselling session once a week for the next 6 months (£50 x 26).

£1300 on a years membership to the swanky health and country club near me, I've been a few times for a spa day and it would be amazing to be able to just go whenever I wanted. It's a massive upgrade from my current cheap and cheerful one.

I'd use the remaining £400 towards a short break in London on my own: £200 odd on tickets for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and the rest on 1 or 2 nights in a nice hotel, maybe afternoon tea somewhere fancy.

I'm actually quite tempted to think "fuck it" and just book my first counselling session and plan a solo London trip now.

One of those Thai spas with coffee enemas and yoga with Kate moss. I feel given half a chance we would be great friends.

lottielimejuice · 02/01/2021 01:29

I would get a VCA necklace, in my dreams I’d buy a vintage Alhambra pendant!

umpteennamechanges · 02/01/2021 01:41

Some overdue dentistry

Getting my car fixed

A spa break

A new rug for the lounge

A lovely capsule wardrobe

(I'd probably run out of money after the first two in reality!)

Californiabakes · 02/01/2021 01:43

Teeth sorted, or partial teeth sortening

Designingheaven · 02/01/2021 01:45

Some dental work. I’d also order myself a crazy bespoke cake and eat it all.

lottielimejuice · 02/01/2021 01:54

Scrap the pendant idea, I’ve just requested a brochure for the sauna co!

CharlotteRose90 · 02/01/2021 02:02

Nose job or composite bonding to my teeth

Bikingbear · 02/01/2021 02:03

A health farm to loose some lard, and give my body a kick start.

Maybe a puppy but many issues with that suggestion. Maybe the local gym is a better idea??

Jasmin82 · 02/01/2021 02:57

iPad, a new phone and push rim covers for my wheelchair.. Not sure what I'd do with the remaining £2K. Maybe a holiday and a new bed. I'm pretty rubbish at spending money on myself. I'm currently pretty much in this scenario after being finally awarded PIP and getting the backpay just before New Year.
In reality, I'd be scared to spend any of it just in case I needed any of it at a later date.

HighNetGirth · 08/01/2021 15:45

£2k on personal training sessions, the remaining £1k on bespoke shoes.

Friendswithwhenifits · 08/01/2021 16:35

Probably Liposuction - with the disclaimer in real life it seems dangerous! Botox, jowl lift eyelid lift. I would live perfect health and oodles of energy though!

Twospaniels · 08/01/2021 16:38

A trilogy diamond ring
Or
A holiday on my own
Or
A facelift
Or
A personal shopper to help me update my clothes

I'm really boring I would just save it or use it on a holiday

purpledagger · 09/01/2021 10:25

Designer handbag
A piece of jewellery like diamond earrings
A holiday

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 09/01/2021 10:29

Hair , nails, botox, new make up , new clothes . I look disgusting right now!

AuntieDolly · 09/01/2021 10:44

I think this £3k is a bit like the mumsnet chicken - it goes on forever! 😁
I’d get art - I’ve never owned anything original
